So I was looking for a good gaming magazine earlier today and stumbled across Electronic Gaming Monthly February 2011 Edition. It mainly was about the 2010 year in review. I flipped through the pages and found an article called "The Download" . It focused on 5 iphone and ipad games: Infinity Blade, Aralon, World of Goo, RAGE, and Real Racing 2. It talked about how fun they were, the depth, and the graphics. They all receieved a 9 out of 10 except for RAGE, which got an 8. But, the interesting thing is, is wasn't until after I finished the article that I found out it was written by ELI HODAPP! I thought it was cool and just wanted to share that interesting little story.
I don't know about now, but it used to be huge in the early-mid 90s. That and Gamepro were the big gaming magazines during the 16-bit era. Anyway, congrats to Eli, that's pretty cool.
I remember seeing a YouTube video of him on the news about subliminal McDonald's advertising, and another about a horrible The Final Countdown cover, both posted by him. This was before iPod touches even existed though, which I thought was pretty cool when I found out later.
EGM is pretty popular in these parts anyway. And he has been writing for them for a few months I thought. At least I have seen stuff by him for awhile now. Probably never took the chance to say congrats though - so congrats, well done, keep up the good work, etc!
Eli has been an iPhone writer/editor for EGM for many months now, a good part of 2010 through the present day... at least since they resurrected the magazine in April or May of last year I thought he even announced it here, but maybe that was just via twitter because I can't find the article
I used to EGM occasionally back in the days of the N64, something of a novelty as magazine imports are few and far between.
