Just got my email but I'm at work unfortunately for most of the day. Can't wait to play through it when I get home and post my thoughts/suggestions later this evening. Reading through everyone elses comments and looking at screenshots so far is really making the day drag by so slowly haha...
Gave it a try, and I see a lot of feedback from everyone, wow, I feel like I'm playing catch up LOL. First impressions, the graphics, artwork and art direction is great, I love the vibrant colour palette, and sharp graphics. The animation's great too. The sound effects are clear and functional and BGM is fine with me. I do notice the number of spelling errors and grammatical mistakes, though that can be fixed easily. Gameplay-wise, the game plays well, as a TD genre game should, but the tutorial or aids are really little. The first couple of levels, I didn't know that the real game has started. For someone familiar with TD, this should be alright, but I think there should be a dedicated tutorial level(s), just to give the player a crash course. I felt that information on the gameplay was a bit scarce, and should be expanded upon. Also, at the shop menu, I tried buying the 500 leaves option, and the screen just dimmed to almost black, and I couldn't get out of it. Had to kill the game and restarted. That's it for my first impressions.
Was able to play a quick game or two on my lunch break. My initial thoughts are that the artwork and graphics are fantastic! Really glad to see retina display being utilized to the fullest. Of course I noticed the same spelling and grammatical errors that others have mentioned but I will not go into them since everyone else has pretty much mentioned everything that I would say about them. They should be pretty easy to fix. The difficulty seems great so far and it's nice to even see an 'easy' mode. I don't really mind the way it is now but I'm sure others would like some sort of a 'hardcore' mode that increases the difficulty even further. It would just add to the replayability and longevity of the game. I also agree that the tutorials could be a little more thorough for people who have not played a TD game before. Once I get home I'll play through more and be sure to post more thoughts Edit: I just saw that you can unlock 'Crazy' mode which nulls the suggestion i made before. I'm loving this game!
It has an awesome ingame shop where you can purchase characters, character upgrades, items and leafes, the art is very good and the animations are outstandingly cute, I know I sound cheesy but this is my favourite TD next to Fieldrunners
Only played for awhile so far since I was out in the day, but I'm liking the art and general gameplay. The upgrading/shop system is an interesting premise but I have yet to try that out much. As mentioned by others there's quite a lot of grammar/translation errors, probably the most I've seen from an AppsAsia game so far. I've only played the first 7 levels or so but I found them to be too easy, kinda hoping you're talking about the later levels. :/
I couldn't agree more regarding needing a zoom. I was missing the towers when trying to touch them to upgrade at least 50% of the time. On an iPad, it would probably work fine, but on an iPod/iPhone a zoom is definitely needed.
I'm using an iPad so I've no need for a zoom, but I can definitely see where it's needed on the smaller devices.
As I play for now : Pro i) Nice graphic and good music ii) Great TD gameplay (upgradeable, shops, many choice of attack) Con i) The UI of the main menu need to be polish up to cheer up the game. ii) Lot of typo and grammatically error. iii) My main menu sometimes always pop up saying that "Thanks for purchasing". Will update my post again from time to time.
Another bug: The bomb tower sometimes doesn't shoot, I don't know what causes it but this happens on upgrade 2 or higher, to fix it you need to sell the tower and buy it again.
Zoom definitely sounds like a necessary addition. Also, I'm confused by the numbers on each of the towers (1.0, 3.5). How about just showing the prices for each tower instead?
I believe these are the prices actually, 1.0 meaning 10 gold and 3.5 meaning 35. While I can see where this may lead to some confusion at first, it isn't game breaking
After try a bit the beta, I can say that this game is really good. Some improvements: I think another type of the font in the infos could be better. A skip option to the videos.
Oh well I actually noticed that the white ring around the icon actually appears to make the number have a decimal point in between it. So I guess the devs do need to sort it out to avoid confusion there lol
A few more things I've noticed. I'm really glad the number of waves starts out small and ramps up each level. I hate some TD games where the first level has somewhere around 60 waves! I think the Sentinel series is like that. By starting them off slow it not only lets the player get used to the mechanics but it gives the whole game the feel that it could be for casual, pick-up-and-play sessions or long-term, hour-burning sessions. Another small gripe, when you unlock an achievement in the Honor section, the popup always shows up in Chinese even though the rest of the game is in English.
