"Item drop" (aka holy leafs and item random given after each match) rate should be optimized in order to have a balance game play I think. Believe it, I cleared 3 map in a row and I got nothing new beside shove & those leafs that randomly dropped by boss and enemy units.
i disagree, shovel fits better because the stones and stumps are imbedded into the ground and should be dug up.
Suggestion 1: Add in a "Challenge of the day" Mode which would feature a stage that has high difficulty but high reward that you can only play once. This would be a nice little addition to boost holy leaves and make the game more exciting. Suggestion 2: Add in special costumes or skins that you could unlock either by IAP or by how many stars you have achieved to make the game a little more customizable and fun. Suggestion 3: Have the option to post your high score to social media sites like Facebook and twitter. And if multiplayer were added having to option to invite your friends to play against you through social media sites would be a good way to get the game out there to a larger crowd. Suggestion 4: Holiday or Seasonal themes for all stages or just a select theme area where they would only be available for the season/holiday. Everyone enjoys these little updates they are normally pretty fun and a simple addition that adds a lot to the game. Suggestion 5: I noticed that the first stages always start with the game paused but then after that the game always starts unpaused I feel it would be better if it was consistent either with it all being unpaused or all being paused. Suggestion 6: A "Humans" Mode where you could play as the humans and defend from the elves attacking to further the plot where elves could get revenge.
So here's one thing I've been thinking about the past few days. The initial contest where we got to vote on and choose the game icon probably should have waited until we've had a chance to play the beta first. The icon that won (and I voted for as well) is great and all but does not really accurately portray the whole game or it's characters. Sure the dragon/dino guy is in it as a mercenary tower but, at least for me, is not used very often. If I could go back and vote again in that contest, I probably would vote for the Elf icon. It's still very visually appealing and would stand out among the thousands of others in the store but would also give the browser a better glimpse into the great artwork and color palette throughout the game. I'm sure plenty of others will disagree with me but that's just my thought. The current icon still rocks too though, so have no fear that others will love it when it's released. Also, I completely agree with iANiMeX's suggestion about having a total tally on the theme screen with how many stars (suns) you've earned in that theme so far and how many remain to be earned. It's visually appealing and also at first glance makes you want to replay those levels to earn the stars you haven't got yet.
Suggestions: -More creative tower names("icer" for an ice tower is really not that...creative) -Add sprites/animation viewpoints from different angles, for example when an enemy turns he still faces the same way he did before. -Daily(weekly) challenges, every day(week) there will be a game challenge(e.x. kill 10 enemies while your towers are under the effect of the skill of the special tree tower) that will earn you holy leafs for a fun and new way to earn them. Bugs/Problems: -The game doesn't seem to be very stable when using a multitasking device, sometimes when I come back from the homescreen it seems if the game is about to crash or bug out.
Bug : Got stuck in profile mode where the updates and such would appear on the top of the phone instead of the center where it should be while playing the game. Going to attach a picture showing what I mean on this post. Bug 2: After it was stuck in profile mode I tried hitting the lock button and then unlocking and going back to the game but now the music will play but you can't touch anything and have to shut down from the game from the multitasking menu. Bug 3: In the Arctic theme stage 1 when you hit the home button or lock your phone and come back to the game the graphics tend to mess up some like the paw prints and other effects on the ground were flashing quite a bit when I would come back to the game. Text error : There were some text errors in the intro video to the ice theme and then also with Coldybear's description it says skill: skill:. "Ok i think we have to admit that the humans got some guts at least. During all those defeat, they still want revenge. Humans will follow elves to end of the Arctic. They can't see who started this at the first time." "Elves can't understand reason of this war. Now they're tired of being patience. We have to get rid of their false ambition. Maybe this could a great chance for lesson." It should read something like, "We have to admit that the humans have got some guts. During all those defeats they haven't given up and want revenge. The humans will even follow the elves to the end of the Arctic. They can't see who was first to start this fight." "Elves don't understand the reason for this war. They are now tired of being patient. They have to get rid of the human's false ambitions. This could be a good chance to teach them a lesson." The text errors all seem to be just mistranslations but they do make the game feel quite cheap or rushed. Suggestion 1: Have more styles of elves for each theme or more characters that can join them during themes. Perhaps elves that boost your stats like a fire elf that increases your elves attacks for the rest of the stage but you can only build one. Suggestion 2: Have total score be a way to unlock certain upgrade you could purchase with holy leaves. It seems right now that your total score is shown in Gamecenter but it doesn't seem to really mean anything, there's no urge to get the highest score I could try for right now.
Just thought I quickly would mention something...not sure if many spoke on this yet but the dev team should definitely add a magic power to the mercenary units as a stat as well as maybe adding weapons to them Ina update and then adding weapon power... Also I just realized that for some reason I lost my fire dragon unit and don't understand why also some stars ...has anyone lost a save yet? Other units and things which I've unlocked after that are still here though... I'm confused.. Here are more stat ideas for units and mercenaries: 1. ITEM POWER- strength of item use when a certain amount of units are on the map at once together .. For example if I'm using 6 flying units .. A 5 percent more power to my offensive items with go up..to explain this in the tutorial simply say .. "some unit stats are based on the amount of units on the map" This would also add to buying IAP for upgrades for our favorite units we like to dominate with to give us that edge in the game.. 2.Obviously special move/magic power for mercenaries... 3. How about the good ok Luck stat which would work in various way for different things such as increase the sale amount when sold... Increase coin drops when using that unit etc Here is a wild idea for special moves only for basic units ...adding a kind of line drawing special move, it works by pressing a special move tab then connecting the units of the same kind together with a line ...either like a triangle or square of the same units ... After they are connected by the line the area inside of the square or whatever shape you made is then effected by magic or a status change like slow or poison.. Or even that inside area could gain more coins when humans are killed within that area..I think that might work well and set the game apart from other TD genres..if it hasn't been done yet that is..
I noticed that the "SPEED" stat is not right. I think in this game lower means faster attack speed. Because the Eilectrician only got 1 "SPEED" and she is the fastest in attack speed. You can only notice this one with the 2 starting towers, SAMSON and ICER. ICER got a higer SPEED while SAMSON got a lower one but SAMSON is faster in terms of attack speed. So I think the correct or proper way is to change the number to HIGHER as the fastest. So I guess you need to change that to avoid confusion because other stats like POWER and RANGE is based on higher number. I also noticed that you will ONLY NEED 2 TOWERS and 2 supporting mercenaries to finish the whole game with PERFECT on all levels in every THEMES. Why? Because I've PERFECTED all the LEVELS in EASY and NORMAL on FOREST and DESERT only using SAMSON and ICER and two mercenaries, STIMULATER and FIRE DRAGON. Now I am halfway done in perfecting the ARCTIC theme using this combination. I didn't use any other tower other than these 4 only. I think you need to balance the towers pricing and stats to make other towers useful. Like make an elements or something like that. Like this monster can only be killed with this tower, this monster take less damage on this tower, etc.. Lower the upgrade cost for other towers. Most towers are over priced when upgrading.
I would change the way the material through which pass the enemy, every square stones is very different from the side. I would put the thin dirt road. I'll like an option to advance x3 for the easy stages.
Suggestion #1: I hope you can change the loading screen to a much better one. Like a character design for the towers or monsters, a funny image of the elves and humans fighting in chibi format, an anime style drawing for each towers, humans and monsters, or the design for each themes like a good drawing for the DESERT theme, etc. Just make another option or menu for the tips where you can read them all rather than becoming a loading screen. Suggestion #2: How about adding a voice over? Like adding a voice when a wave is coming. Example: A human Knights will be coming out as a wave, a voice will be triggered and will say "ATTACK THOSE ELVES!!". You can turn them into chibi or chipmunks voice or make them more mature one like from the movies. You can also make the towers speak when you touch them. Like they will respond "I am ready!!", "Die!!", etc.. Or just let them speak only when you build them. Like they will say "I will protect our land!", "Armed and ready", etc.. Suggestion #3: How about adding TRAPS? Traps like Pitfall, Net, Spikes, Boulder, etc. If a monster stepped on a pitfall, they will not be able to move for 2-3 seconds (Can only trap 1 monster. Add 1 more monster trapped per upgrade). Spikes gives damage to monsters stepping on it (Damage increases per upgrade). These Traps can be permanent or one time use. If it will be one time use, the cost should be lower. If it will be permanent, It should be 100 coins or above. This can only be placed on the monster's path. This can be unlocked on a certain point of the game or by IAP. Suggestion #4: How about adding a COIN maker Tower. This COIN maker tower will generate coins every 3-5 seconds. Each upgrade will speed up the generation of the coins and so does the coins it produce. Or you can make this COIN maker tower to generate points each monster it hits or kills or you can also make this tower generate 2x coins each monster it kills. This can help the balancing of the pricing for the other towers.
Something that really needs to be changed is the level selection screen, the swiping is a pain, everytime you want to swipe through it resets it and so on and so on, also the Holy leafs are pretty unbalanced, you get about 80 every game and you need over 4000 to buy every mercenary tower, for sure you can do all the honors, but that takes a while, and when you are done with them you've propably beaten the game twice, at some points it is perfect as it is, but at some points it still needs to be tweaked. And to all other beta testers: We can be proud, in only 4 days of testing so far we plowed up this game and got so many bugs and problems and suggested so much that could be gamechanging. Just noticed that when opening the Leaderboards on an iPad, it shows up in portrait mode, even though the game is in landscape.
Bug 1: If you are touching the screen when you take a picture it won't recognize any taps you make after that the game will still run but you won't be able to control anything. You have to shut the game down and start it back to get controls back. Bug 2: Lots of the maps the right side on the border is unable to build on though you should be able to. Sometime the top most spot will still let you but the rest won't. Left side never seems to have this problem it's always the right. Suggestion 1: When starting the game it is normally black for a little bit before it shows the JellyOasis screen it would be nicer if that screen showed up first. First time I turned the game on I thought it didn't work. Suggestion 2: Have a "Time limit" Mode where you have only a set amount of time for the stage and the golden seed is given to you over time rather than from defeating humans so you have to plan accordingly to survive the whole stage.
Btw, you will also notice after opening the Leaderboards and pressing home on your iDevice then going back in the game again, the welcome back screen of game center will be in portrait mode as well like in the image below.. I think the portrait mode Leaderboards is causing this. Btw, when you take a screenshot after opening the Leaderboard, all of those shots will be in Protrait mode. Seems like the Device thinks you are in Portrait mode lol.
First crash/bug. After exiting the game during the middle of a game and opening the game again, the screen just went black and crashed. I'll try and replicate it later. Only bug so far
That kinda happened to me too, except for me the game didn't crash, don't forget to send your crash report, it will help the dev Post 4/4 again, god damn it
It's really odd that so many of you are reporting crashes on multitasking devices by exiting out and returning etc. I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1 and have tried a million times to replicate these crashes you're describing and just can't. I, of course, believe you all and am glad you are finding the bugs and sending the crash reports that I can't find, it's just strange is all. It's running like a champ for me while going back and forth between other apps/games and getting texts/emails. On another note, I can't believe the testing period is almost over! I hope they actually release a final version soon after quashing the bugs and hopefully taking some of our suggestions into account since this has grown to be one of my favorite TD games for iOS...
