Those texts are neither in Japanese nor Chinese, but Korean. Interesting lessons you took. ...But I digress. How about increasing the drop rate of holy leaves for repeat levels (specifically, when repeating the level at a different difficulty setting)?
Oh dear, I just realized that the game is universal! So the iCloud backup feature is a MUST. And I wish there could be more themes, even if it costs as IAP.
No trolling..i have noticed that some beta testers do troll other beta testers..freedom of speech! Anyways just finished playing and i have noticed that the scores from my previous finished maps didn't show up when i back tracked on my previously finished maps.
Maybe its more fun if they will add some cool heroes..just a suggestion though..im still encountering screen freeze problem whenever i transfer to another application and then go back to the game. Os this an isolated case?anyone experiencing the same problem?
I will reinstall the game tomorrow and update you guys if the problem still persist..starting to get addicted ^_^
The song does get annoying after playing for awhile, perhaps having an option to choose your own soundtrack, or have an alternative BGM as an option. The X2 option is great. The items are a distraction, as someone mentioned previously, I too, don't use the items that much at all. I just use Shovel mostly. it wastes valuable screen space. Anyway, I just tried buying leaves, with success this time, but is that taken from your iTunes credit? Also, installing it on my iPad to test it out there as well.
Honestly what I see here is a mediocre tower defense game with little to set it apart from a bloated field other than it's art design. This game needs something really unique otherwise just comes across as a clone. It's not that plain vanilla tower defense games are bad, but there's a lot of untapped potential in the genre. + So far smooth performance without crashing or obvious bugs on my iPod Touch 3G 32GB iOS 5.0.1. - For each level there is a high score, adding information about how that high score is calculated would be informative and boost replay value because I would know what to do to best that score. - Aside from some of the grammer/spelling errors some of the text used comes across as condescending by being so over the top. When I complete a level and it says I'm "Unbelievable!" it seems silly, adding some subtlety would help. At points it seems like the text tries to pump up the gamer by suggesting what to think/feel (such as how cool a weapon is) and it feels off. ~ For tower upgrades it would help if there was some notice of what effect upgrade had, a quick pop-up companion screen feature that could be toggled on/off. + Wave speeds seem really good, I am use to a fast forward button but the pacing here doesn't require ome. ~ As others have said iCloud and zoom would be nice. ~ The elf art design seems floral/botanical. If intentional that's an interesting idea I've like to see expanded upon. Maybe a machine versus nature motif (if not cliche) or some cool botanically themed plot. However that might confuse the elf mythos. ~ It would be interesting if there was some sort of enemy index to explain the story behind enemy units and their power/attack specs. + Maybe it's the polished graphics or the way the poor translations come across trying to hype things but the developers seem to have put a lot of obvious effort into the game and it comes across as spirited. - The transparent zigzag border at top is annoying and sometimes obscures view. Hereos would be really amazing and unique. Anything to add variety to units different from the standard ranged attack of most tower defense. Maybe units that fly around a certain parameter would be nice too. Soundtrack does get monotonous, if there were dramatic shifts to reflect bosses or faster enemies it would also help. Create a map would rule!
Hey guys! When I just booted the game up I got this weird graphical glitch(see bottom and top): Also here are some spelling mistakes(couldn't rotate the pics, I don't know why): These 2 have spelling mistakes in the item description at the bottom: Thats it for today. I will play some more and hopefully will be able to beat the first world now
This is a great idea, at least you're alerted to a change in events. As a warning to upgrade towers or, to wake you up from the monotony.
To be honest, what undeadcow said is pretty much head on. I certainly wouldn't call it mediocre, but in essensce it does feel a little bit tired in that it does not do anything new. My firt TD game on ios was the creeps, and while it did not doing anything amazing, it had something that made me want to finish it to the end. I think having a bit more charater connection might help this. Overall I feel the gameplay itself is solid, but it needs more draw to it. I think map creation would make a brilliant idea to set it apart. I almost wonder if taking some things away might help it. They way I have felt about TD games in general is that a lot of them come off as too messy. My personal two favorites on ios are jelly defense and the creeps. Both of those had cleaner more intuitive UIs, and less things to worry about. Also the creeps had the semi-unique idea of being able to target landscape as well for money. But in the end, they wore both simple to understand, had difficult levels though that took careful planning, and they brought great art styles. The art styles is here for sure. As I said earlier, there could be a bit more contrast in the path versus landscape. The gameplay mechanics are there, but I feel it could use one extra thing to set it apart. And lastly, the simplicity. This is where I feel the game could improve. I tried to think of a way to improve the item system, but I honestly feel it might be best to just do away with it. I personally find it as a nuisance taking up screen space than actually contributing to gameplay. Not really sure what to be honest though.
Yep, Map creation was one thing I suggested too in one of my posts, it would make this game stand out from other games, even though I am certainly sure that this game will do very well on launch if it gets updated regularly it still needs a bit more work with new ideas. To be honest the shop and upgrade system really amazed me at the start but after some time you notice you don't even need it that much and its more of a side thing since you never have enough holy leafs.I am not saying that the amount of holy leafs earned should be increased, its perfect as it is in my opinion, but either the shop should get more important to the gameplay or some more new ideas. Best regards.
A lot of people have mentioned an endless mode which would be a great idea. Even if it was something along the lines of it unlocking when you beat a 'crazy' level. Not sure how difficult that would be to implement this late in the stage of the game but I know 100% of customers would appreciate it and it could help this game stand out more among the hundres of other TD games. Another bug, if you click on a locked world the popup that shows is in Korean even though the rest of the game is in English. This also happens with the Honor menu achievements unlocking. I would definitely like a more detailed and thorough explanation/tutorial about the powerups at the bottom of the screen. Unless I actually try them out myself (and use them up since they are consumable) I really don't know what it is exactly they can do for me to help out with the oncoming swarm of enemies. I have not excountered and crashed or freezes or anything at all on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1. Runs smooooth as butter...
Yeah, in-depth help/descriptions would be nice. Currently the help menu only lists the basic gameplay mechanics, and the screenshots are taken from the Korean version too (you can see the Korean text). On a related note, perhaps a separate tutorial level for those new to TD (since this game seems like it'll be marketed to newcomers too) would be nice, whereas those who are already familiar can skip it. Difficulty-wise, as I (and a few others) mentioned earlier, the game is pretty easy on Normal. Making it harder or having another Hard difficulty level would be nice. Although there's a Crazy version of the maps, you still need to unlock them so if you found Normal easy you might get bored of playing before you unlock them. I haven't actually unlocked the Crazy levels yet but it would be good if it wasn't just a "Hard" version, that is, it should have more waves of enemies and maybe slight changes to the map etc. Somewhat related to the difficulty; 2x speed is still pretty slow, a 3x or even 4x would be good. Subsequent waves could also be shorter, since towers build instantly and you can pause the game anyway. As for zooming, an option to zoom would be nice, as others have mentioned, but personally I haven't had problems trying to select a specific tower (although, when you upgrade a tower to the max and it becomes rather large it might be more difficult to select a small tower behind it). On the other hand, I would like to zoom out to see more of the map at once though. And before I forget: there should be an option to see the increased range before upgrading a tower. Either 1) you see the additional range (perhaps in a darker shade of green) when you hold on the upgrade button, or 2) change it so that you need to tap upgrade twice to upgrade, and when you tap once you see the additional range.
Would be impress and like to have: a) zoom in and out the map. So player could see the whole map and the details of the tower. b) endless mode as player could play as long as they could without lose their life. Really like the colorful of the game. Way too cool!
- The game doesn't force diverse strategies or play well to large maps. Mostly every stage allows you to mob towers at the beginning and it's rare that the rest of the stage is used. Not sure how to encourage greater play area and this may be due to play style or preferred strategy but it seems game elements should penalize stale strategies by having diverse opponent/stage elements. - Found a bug where if you click a tower to bring up upgrade/sell menu then multitask out the upgrade/sell menu remains stuck in the screen with no obvious way to close/select. Although the game continues to run I am unable to place additional units or upgrade existing ones, commands are frozen. This happened with frost tower in area 1 stage 4 on iPod Touch 3G 32GB running iOS 5.0.1. - Add a confirmation option when selling units, I just accidentally sold my star tower trying to upgrade the unit below. - The art design looks really cool in the beta ad on first post but in game looks less stellar because art is mostly zoomed out and shown bird's eye. There are likely style optimizations that can be done to make the art touches pop more. This will create a more kinetic immersive game. ~ It might help to emphasize the upgrade system, maybe trying an upgrade encouragement prompt into the narrative or centralizing an "elf headquarters" that encourages customization/upgrade through plot dynamics. ~ Ability to customize units by selecting colors or parameters would be interesting, maybe add a "create your own character" class would be neat although perhaps unrealistic.
At the end of each level I would like to actually be able to see how the total score is calculated. Like it could be a live update, tallying up the total points from enemies killed, remaining currency, towers used, holy leaves earned, etc. so we can actually see what we did well and maybe have an idea what to do to get a better score in the future. Speaking of holy leaves, they are very slow to accumulate. You earn a few each round but not nearly enough to make any significant updates or changes. Although you do earn a bunch by completing Honor achievements and I'm sure the dev is trying to push for a few customers to purchase IAP for them. I guess maybe you could have a few more enemies throughout the levels carrying some holy leaves. For the people wanting a zoom feature, I have had no problems without it but I'm sure others would like the option. Maybe one compromise could be to have an optional setting to have the tower placement offset from where you are touching so that way it is not directly under your fingertip and you can see better about where you want to place your towers. Even better, coupling this option WITH a zoom feature should please everybody having issues with size.
Some new suggestions: Ad the zoom in/out. In big stages are difficult to see easy all the map. Change a bit the unit icons. That very similar. If you need to build a unit very quickly it need to be more easy.
What I would like to see is either making normal harder or making the game more strategic, if you build an ice tower slap a bunch of normal towers down along with some bombs towers you are basically good to go, the thing with this game is that it hasn't really any challenge or strategic going which is a disadvantage and won't make people too happy. Normal should be harder and easy should be as normal is right now, and crazy, well crazy should be crazy obviously, faster enemies, enemies with more health, higher upgrade costs, the hardcore mode of Tower Defense games. I really think the problem with the game is that there isn't really a strategic way to go and its really easy, done with the first world now and I never lost a heart on any level. Off topic: Post 4/4 for today, I guess I am not allowed anymore to post? Guess I'll be back tommorrow
Suggestion 1: Perhaps it would be could to have a hint button where you could press it and it would give you advice if you were stuck on a stage. Suggestion 2: When upgrading units during the match have either a box that tells you how much their range will increase by, attack rate, and attack power so that way it would be easier to figure out which one you should upgrade first. Also on the upgrade screen with the holy leaves have a screen showing how much their stats will change by. Suggestion 3: As other have stated a create your own map function would be great and being able to share it with other players would be great too. Maybe a multiplayer mode could be fun where one if defending and the other gets to pick what types of waves would come at them. Suggestion 4: At the end of the round have a stats screen which shows how many of each type of attacking humans you destroyed. Also could have a all time total of these on the main menu. It would be pretty cool to see how many attackers you have destroyed. Bug: When you unlock an achievement it pops up at the top of the screen in Korean instead of English.

Tutorial Screen: "If you feel difficulty in normal mode, try easy mode." Should be "If normal mode is too difficult, try easy mode." "In crazy mode, you will gain extra interest golden seeds at end of wave in proportion to left life points."
