Yes, dots prevent you placing pieces there, they appear with straight & perpendicular pieces since they cause some gameplay issues at the corners. I tried some different themes before releasing the game, here is one of my favorites (disregard the GUI, it's belongs to an older version): but I decided to go with a single theme because: 1) it's a hassle to adjust all menus & fx according to different themes 2) it can be kind of dissonant with the music / ambient sounds but probably a lot of people mute their phone playing puzzle games, so, basically number 1 is the real reason. No promises, but I might try to add them now that I don't have the pressure of releasing the game. Thanks for the comment!
Yea themes could be fun, or like a time attack mode (how much you can score in __ minutes) just random thoughts
That looks great! I would love that for an option! You've really thought this game out, at first I didn't see what a huge difference it was from the standard Tetris style games. When you figure out the outer rings score higher, things get very interesting. That pushes us out to the edge and means more of a risk for space management for the larger blocks, or play it safe and stay in the inner two rings, leaves space to put larger blocks... But that normally for me ends up bad. Was in second for the hard leader board yesterday, haven't looked today #
Cannot agree with that...the lack of time constraints is what makes this game great IMHO. Just finished my first run and loving it!
Love this game so far. My girlfriend and I have been going back and forth with higher scores. So far can't best 1600. I didn't realize the mirroring mechanic until seeing this thread. That would be nice for the tutorial. The only issue I have is the music still plays when I set my phone to vibrate. Some more game modes would be nice in the future too! Great job on the game !!!
I would also like to see different themes and would be willing to pay for them, considering the extra work involved in updating the interface to suit them. Still loving this game, but suck at it! Why has no one mentioned the ambient BGM? For me it's half the attraction - it's so "Vangelis"... (BTW, I too, suffer from the music playing while muted - iPhone 6+.)
@lightasammo, Glad you and your girlfriend are liking it! 1600 is very very good without using mirroring, imo. @Roleki, I'm happy someone noticed the music, it may be my favorite aspect of game development (not only for this game but in general) About extra themes, game modes, achievements etc... I needed to face the reality these last days and took some decisions. Although we've made some income during the last week (which nearly stopped since app store feature has ended), the game didn't exactly become a hit and this income buys us a few months only (and we have a pretty humble lifestyle already). So, investing this time on the ongoing projects makes more sense for now. I can return to it later, in a better time, though can't give any promises. I hope you guys will understand this decision and I hope you'll continue having fun while playing it. I'm investigating the music/sound bug (when phone is muted). I'm not sure yet why this happens, because as far as I know I'm not doing anything special that can override the OS in such a way, so weird. It may be some internal bug of the technology I'm using perhaps, but I will continue searching just to be sure. By the way, I also received a bug report like this, in case someone is encountering it here too: Game is working great, and then suddenly it stops working (there are clouds moving in the background but nothing else), deleting and reinstalling the game doesn't solve the problem. In that case, probably your phone's cache memory is full and game save file can not be created / edited on your phone. If you encounter it, please try clearing your cache (you can use "battery doctor" for this, a free app, go in "junk" and click "scan). Also clearing the game related info that is stored on the iCloud may be required (from iOS settings -> iCloud -> storage -> manage storage --> Eklips), but I'm not definitely sure... and if you have this problem, please write the result here afterwards, because this is not something I can reproduce either and it seems like a phone related issue since reinstalling doesn't seem to work. Thanks again for your comments guys, I really appreciate it!
Yep. If it's not profitable, move on. Down the road, you could throw in a one time IAP to unlock additional content if this is a project about which you're passionate enough to return. But, if not, it's totally great as you released it!
Sad to hear UmutD, your game is one of the better games this year for me anyway, but it's hard to get recognized, there are just too many games coming out so devs are killing each other, I would say there need to be more fusions between devs, 10 devs together can make a better game than 1 dev. IMO. Just a tip, didn't you consider to set the game free with ads and then one IAP to remove ads, I know not everybody wants that, but it's worth the try I think, but it's just a tip, trying to help here. Looking forward to your new game, hope it's a puzzle game ha ha.
Thanks for the support guys By the way, I rolled a new update, it should fix the -playing music on muted phone- bug!
Game doesn't go beyond the animated tutorial on my iPhone 6S Plus with iOS 9.3.2. I'm getting the clouds flying by like the dev mentioned and that's after clearing all of the cache and with having around 840MB's available.
Hmmm this is weird. May I ask some questions to have a better grasp on what's causing this? - Did you cleared your cache with Battery Doctor? (junk -> scan). Your phone's memory is managed differently than the storage that is spared for cache, so deleting apps / documents to open space might not solve the issue, I want to be sure. - Did you reinstall the game after clearing cache? (It might help if save file exists but is broken) - Was game working before on your phone or did this happen in a newly bought game? - Also, can you describe what exactly appears on the screen after tutorial ends? If you can, a screen capture would be even better. It can be a new bug, I'm just trying to be sure. If it is not a new bug and affecting more users than I think, perhaps I should update how I save files, but I also need to figure out if there is a way to do this without breaking other people's saves. Thanks for reporting.
Deleted and reinstalled after deleting a few apps and it started working. The game initially wouldn't load any pieces on the gameplay screen with the clouds rolling by.
Game is back to only working after I delete and restart my phone. I've got about 700 MBs of space and had nearly 1GB when it first started not loading blocks on the gameplay screen with the clouds again. It has been freezing in a different way about 80% of the time now. It has started letting me place the first block and then acts as if I've ran out of moves with the undo button flashing. When it gets to that point or only loads the gameplay screen without blocks, nothing can be selected.
Sorry, I couldn't reproduce the issue. As I said before, your empty memory is not the same thing with cache space. So, even if you delete some apps, your cache space probably remains same or similar which might be causing the issue. There are free apps like battery doctor, which helps clearing the cache, which also makes your phone more responsive. I think it will also fix your issue (if my guess is correct) Here it is explained better: http://www.ubergizmo.com/how-to/clear-iphone-ipad-ios-cache/ I know it's not the ideal solution but it's hard to do an update without being certain about what the problem is, and without breaking the backward compatibility (for people who play it without an issue) and I'm still trying to figure out your problem. I will continue searching the issue, but it would greatly help if you can clear the cache with battery doctor and tell me the result. Sorry for the inconvenience
