I was wondering if you ever get to take Robin with you in battle? So far, it's the spirits (and they don't really fight and you can't use them immediately), but she's leveled up a few times and it mentioned her HP, attack and defense. So now I'm curious why that is. :)

I'm level 14, and so far the game is fun EXCEPT there is no monster information in battles. It makes no sense. I've unlocked three islands and all the monsters do 1-3 dmg to me (I have 280 HP) but one little green monster w tentacles all of a sudden does like 60-90 dmg per HIT!! and I die. The problem is there are other monsters that look EXACTLY the same, but hit me for 1-3 dmg. Is there any way to know their strength, level, etc in battle? I haven't seen anything.

Also, i've leveled up my spirits w food so they're pretty high and I use their skills, but this little green slime tentacle or whatever monster is pretty overpowered for this beginning area...

Yeah, I agree. I did okay on the first part on a stage, then the next part I died in like two turns. Also, at some point they were attacking me two or even three against one and I just couldn't win there (or run away because I was surrounded). I can understand if it's a level thing, but (unless I missed it) the game doesn't indicate "it's best if you're level x for this part". I try using the spirits (don't have that many yet) but it takes too long before you can use their skills (or else I'm really missing something). The game does mention in the Tips that you can train at the stages you've already beaten, so I guess maybe I need to do so for a while (on the plus side, it'll be good for getting extra materials :p).

I’m having similar issues. On the Elysian Meadows stage 1, still fairly early into the game. Going through the stage and monsters are doing just a few points of damage. Then all the sudden one that looks exactly the same does massive damage and kills me in like a few attack’s while my attacks on it do next to no damage.

Almost seems like a bug because it just doesn’t make sense at all to have such a huge difficulty spike in the same level .... and again early in the game.

Also finding that you’ve got to be careful on what spirits you level up. Got some lion looking fire spirt and leveled it up to 14 (kind of accidentally because I didn’t realize what I was doing). The dang thing only has a “chance” of doing 1/4 HP damage. Guess that may be good later on but is not useful in the early game.

Anyway, definitely seems to have some balancing issues...especially with that huge jump in green monster difficulty.

Was enjoying the game but am kind of annoyed now.

so it turns out that if you remember which monsters those are (they're always the same over powered ones in a stage) you can completely ignore them for the time being - they won't move or attack unless you attack first. I've gotten decently far using this strategy and after becoming somewhat stronger i've been able to go back and beat them. Also it helps to equip the first three spirits you get as they give a nice 20% resistance buff as a link rune bonus. Some of the bonuses are very nice but you only get them when equipping the "correct" spirits.

Side note: When you unlock the event island farm those as much as possible. They have gold logs you can farm that sell for 1000 a piece! (sell once you unlock the store) you can skip any of the slimes that just sit there, and the couple of slimes you need to kill to get the chests aren't bad at all. The chests contain guaranteed seeds to evolve your spirits - the evolution of a spirit increases its stats by a LOT.

So I've been playing this nonstop since release. ~Lv 40 now, beat the main game. Gotta say the story was charming and a fun little time pass for a few days.

Biggest quibble is that it gets incredibly repetitive and there isn't a well-defined end-game. I beat the game without ever touching any of the other spirits outside the starter three and never gained enough materials to evolve any of them. The rate of gaining resources is just a bit underwhelming. I was really hoping there would be more to the game (not being greedy as it was multiple hours of fun) but the spirits don't really add anything to the experience. Whether there were 3 spirits or 500 in the game, you're never going to be able to use them all before you beat it, and the variation between spirits is minor at best (different skills/costs but approximately the same stats). Where I am right now, I can beat 90-95% of the Stage 2s, and the ones remaining are just going to be a grind-fest (multiple enemies that each hit for 200-300 and I only have 600 hp).

There's definitely a huge collection element to the game that I'm sure appeals to many people (all the bonus characters to collect, the dozens of houses to build and upgrade, etc) but collection for the sake of collection gets a little boring. This is one of those games that might benefit from special events requiring some of the grinding.

I do wish there were ways to speed up the grind. If I completely detach my brain and go full-grind mode, the event stages give me ~150k gold for 30 minutes of mindless empty grinding, which takes about two minutes to spend at end-game.

Quick clarification. You can't evolve until you hit max level, so evolution doesn't actually increase stats at all. It only increases the max level.

Is there different weapons and armor to collect that changes your appearance or no?

I was wondering if there was an end-game, so thanks for answering that, tennischamp5. :)

I've played a few hours today and I have to agree; it gets repetitive. Probably because it reminds me of a few games I played on the 3DS (Rune Factory 4 and Fantasy Life), so I'm having a bit of a feeling of "done this before".

I'm not really into the collection element, but it's nice the game offers so much to do. My house is actually currently upgrading, though now I have to get back to the event stage, because I spent all my money buying materials instead of grinding them. :p

Speaking of houses, did anyone figure out yet which house the characters like best? I think some character made a comment about it while I was playing today, but I didn't pay enough attention, so now I can't remember who it was and what they said.

As for the spirits, I leveled the starter trio up today as much as I could (though I think I could have gone further if I also gave them potatoes that weren't their element?), so now they're between level 17 and 22. I've unlocked a few others, but so far the trio does indeed seem best.

Thanks for clarifying that evolving them increases their max level. I can't evolve any of them yet, but looking at the page it does give the impression your stats will go up a lot.

Also, how often can you expand your home and the workshops?

Yeah, the evolve page makes it seem like they get a stat boost, but they can only be evolved at max level, and once you reach max level, you realize the stat boost they get from evolving is only like +1-2 in each stat (equivalent to the next level up).

The initial trio is great just because their skills are so cheap but still effective. I have 6 of the gold border spirits now but their skills are so expensive (cost 7-8-9) that they're borderline impossible to cast more than once or twice a stage so i continue to use my starter trio.

Your workshops can be expanded until Lv 10. Two floors of five rooms each. I'm not sure about the home, but I'd assume something similar. Mine is only two stories right now and costs like 300-400k worth of materials to get the next upgrade - but since it's purely for aesthetic appeal, I've been pushing it off.

When you beat the game, you've only unlocked ~25-30 residents. In the eggpedia, there's like 60 or something. So a big part of the end game is building more houses of different types and upgrading them so that the rest will come live with you. It's fun if you're into the collection part, but again - they don't add anything to the game play and work the exact same as the first 25ish residents (bring along into battle, gift daily, and give them stuff that they ask for).

When I leveled up my starter trio the mana required for their skills went down by 1 at some point. If I continue leveling them up, will the cost go down even further?

How many eggs are there in total? Did you also unlock the secret stages (that appear if you place certain eggs next to each other)?

Also, does the town get bigger at some point? Right now I only have 6 places where I can build a home so if there are over 20 residents in the main storyline, I'm gonna need more room. ;)

The mana reqs go down when you level up their skills. When you see the list of potatoes you can use to power up a spirit, the spirit's favorite potato has a blue crystal on the top left. Those potatoes level up the spirit's skills. At skill level 3, costs drop by 1 for most spirits, and at skill level 5, they drop by 2. So at max skill level, the starter trio's skills all cost 3.

There's 19 eggs in total. I haven't unlocked all the secret stages. It's one of those annoying end-game things I may get around to at some point. I've unlocked maybe half a dozen of them so far, but none of them are anything super special or extra. They're literally just bonus stages/areas for the most part.

The town gets bigger after the ending. You can eventually build in 18 different spots (I think you can only have 12-13ish houses though) and then each of them can be upgraded. That's all part of the end game though. Most of that stuff seems like it's purely cosmetic. Residents start to double up - multiple brownies live in the same house, etc.

Yeah you're right, I didn't realize they had to be max level before evolve, good call. I agree with everything you said. For me it boils down to mainly a collection game. It really feels like this was made to be F2P and it was converted to be premium. I really think a $10 price tag is a bit much for what you get here. This is a "wait for a sale" title.

lol amenbrother, i have the same interests in games as you. There is no gear whatsoever in this game, therefore, no appearance changes.

What are some of the secret stages ? I've placed almost all the eggs and have moved them around randomly but still haven't unlocked any secret areas except the very first one they kinda just give you.

How would you compare this game with Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley? I mean in terms of end goal, repetitiveness, etc?

I spent some of my 80+ eggshells just moving map points around this weekend to see what special bonuses unlocked. The extra stage that appears is a great place to collect logs / wood - they often have 8 trees total, two different types of wood (4 and 4 of each) on a single floor. Here are the ones I've found so far:

Willowwacks next to Sela Swamp - Great Forest spawns in Willowwacks (Grass Logs and Conifer Logs)
Sela Swamp next to Floating Gardens - The Falls spawns in Sela Swamp (Bonbon Logs and Brawny Logs)
Desolare Sands next to Sela Swamp - Oasis spawns in Desolare Sands (Cactus Logs and Flora Logs)
Floating Gardens next to Bamboo Grove - Doggontown spawns in Floating Gardens (Flora Logs and Bamboo Logs)
Himmel Peaks next to Coral Coast - Chiseled Cliffs spawns in Himmel Peaks (Palm Logs and Fruit Logs)
Hailstone Caves next to Luciferous Labyrinth - Eerie Entrance spawns in Hailstone Caves (Argent Logs and Rotten Logs)
Waylost Woods next to Sela Swamp - The Labyrinth spawns in Waylost Woods (Thorny Logs and Luminous Logs)
