So I'm way behind the times. I just installed a six-month old update for Stanza that killed the program. (F*** you, Amazon!) Previously it was probably my favorite application.

Any recommendations for readers similar in functionality to Stanza?

    Thanks.

I'd be interested in people's opinions as well, as I've always preferred Stanza to iBooks...

Sad thing is that I've been buying things in the Kindle format as I like the Kindle app better than iBooks as well... (There's a good chance I'll be buying a Kindle Touch just for reading at some point.)

All I can say is that you should have a copy of CaLibre on your computer if you don't already. Makes juggling things a lot easier.

    Really liked Stanza as well.

I use the Kindle App now. iBooks I pretty much use for PDFs (mostly game and synthesizer manuals).

I'm curious what problems you guys are having with Stanza, since mine still works alright. I know there were problems with IOS 4.3 but it seems to work again with IOS 5.

At some point, I could no longer download books.

I loved i2reader up until I bought a real eink ereader it never gave me a single issue and worked great with Calibres content server, it was one I purchased though and not free.

I always found stanza pretty poor although I understand the earlier versions worked pretty well until apple changed some rules somewhere.

I actually picked up a now discontinued (but new in box) Kindle Keyboard. They have free unlimited 3g and through the feature devoid, yet functional browser, you can access any website.

The current Kindles with free unlimited 3g can only access amazon and wikipedia.

It works well as an ereader, and with the hacks out there, you can do quite a bit of customization.
