I've gotten some matched in Ranked. I suspect the problem is simply lack of players right now. Hopefully the player base will expand with time.
We optimized our matchmaking so you should now be able to connect with others in the Arena (Ranking Mode). Please try and let me know if you're still experiencing problems. Have fun.
Question about factions: when I click on a card, in the bottom left corner is has a faction icon and says "-2 risk". If you are currently using that faction does that mean the card should carry -2 risk? Also, anybody have any solid decks yet? Been playing rogue but haven't put together anything very good
That's correct, although you already see the final value in the Strategium. For example, if you're playing as a Rogue, and your Rogue card is shown to have 6 Risk, that's exactly how much Risk it has. However, for Mages and Warriors, the same card is worth 8 Risk. Crazed Rogue is a good example. For you, the card is worth 0 Risk, so it is a fantastic card to open with. For players in other Factions though, it is worth 2 Risk, so - because of the card's "Madness" Weakness - it is almost always a guaranteed loss of 2 Risk. Unless, of course, you have an appropriate coloring card in your deck... HINT: Think about synergies. If you have a card with Weakness, it might be smart to also possess a card with Maneuver or Cede & Seed to combat this Weakness. Refresh works great with skills you might want to use multiple times, like Void. And so on...
It all depends from what type of playstyle / tactics you want to use on the battlefield. Have you tried to change a faction?
And here's something to make up the minds of those who still doubt that Earthcore is all about gameplay! Multiplayer gameplay with developer commentary: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Wow the arena queues are nearly instant for bronze league now. 400+ players on. Is there a possibility the coin doubler can be purchased with gems? Like 400 gems or something to make it a hard choice for f2p players. As of now I'm not seeing anything worth spending gems on aside from the promo packs
Actually there are many more players. What you're seeing are online players from just one of our servers. We have a few of them live currently Gold Doubler is actually a free reward you get when you reach LVL 7, then LVL 10 and then every 10th level of experience. When you get it for free it's yours. The only thing we do is that we ask you to come back everyday to refresh it with 1 Diamond so it can work for another 24hours. 1 Diamond refresh is basically free (we make sure you get way more Diamonds every day). As for purchases for in-game currency, Earthcore is all about acquiring cards and creating new ones: 1. First you collect new Recruit cards (single-skilled). You'll want to have most Recruits in multiple copies, because... 2. ..Then you go crafting and sacrifice recruit cards to create Heroes! You can figure out what do you think are the perfect skill combinations and go and craft such cards. No randomness here - what you plan is what you get. There can be up tens of thousands of unique card combinations in Earthcore! It's up to you what card you're going to craft 3. ..and then, if you find your Hero not perfect or you want to improve it, you can decraft and craft again so you get a completely new card. Eventually, you can get up to 18 three-skilled Heroes in your 25 card deck (as of today, because we plan to add more Hero cards later). Just imagine how powerful such deck can be if you came up with good, synergic skill combinations for all your Hero cards! As you can see, this game is all about the gameplay and trying out different cards in battles against others. On later stages, it's all about figuring out the most optimal skill combinations which can help you develop unique strategies and minimize the randomness during the battles to a bare minimum. Oh and by the way, if you craft a Hero card which nobody had crafted before (in other words, you will be first to find the unique skill combination), the game will reward your handsomely with plenty of Diamonds and your name will stay forever next to that Hero. As of now, there have been more than 2,500 unique Hero cards created by players. Still tens of thousands options left!
Some tips Here's my advice to new players in terms of deck building. Cards that change elements are GOOD. Vampire, Spymistress, Druid are awesome, because they screw up your opponents plans. For example let's say you put a water creature in the middle lane, opp counters with earth one. Turn 3 you slam down Vampire and kiss your water creature - and you also kiss your opponent goodbye. If you have these, put as much in your deck as you can. Cards that are gold and mess up the plans of your opponents are even BETTER. Ice rogue, Reptilian, Lake Master - awesome mind games. When crafting heroes keep in mind what's their purpose - for example a hero with Crush and Intimidate will underperform. A hero with high risk with Intimidate and Overpower...that's tasty. For example - my favorite card is Ann Drake, which has a basic Reveal skill. I crafted her with Terrify if she gets countered (which she gets a lot as her usefulness is at the beginning of a match) and Intimidate - so when she's countered she can Terrify the countering card and dust it when she's deadlocked. My Spark has Crush, Vampire Kiss and Morph. I use to slam him against a winning element 6 risk opening monster, or to kiss when I need to - and as he's 17 risk now, morph is used as an escape mechanism. General deck building should be decided on whether you want to control and win lanes, using deadlocked middle lane to win in 1 - 2 strikes or direct damage through skills (Elf Captain, Accursed, Devourer chant and creatures with backstabs or vendetta) Hope I helped - the name is Pepsodont, if you're new. Oh yeah, some general tips: - don't buy other packs than Army, it's not worth it. You get a shitload of gold in adventures and later in every won Arena match with a Gold Doubler - refresh the Gold Doubler, it's cheap - don't use 1x of a card in your deck if it isn't a situational one like a chant breaker or...eeeh a chant. It's better to set a deck strategy and include as much cards that support it as possible - rogues don't have good openers (cheap risk 4 risk cards), don't use crazed rogue like ever. Defender is alright when you're starting, but useless later in the harder fights as he can't defend two lanes. Because: - save the last skill activation, you never now what will hit you (exception being Gorgon decks, when you see one you bet there will be more when that came from) - put your phone on Do Not Disturb when you play...or you lose
Hi! I have. And then accidentally decrafted again. Lol! Noob mistake. But getting better. At least in the Silver League now. This game is eating up all my Hearthstone time! Lol!
Pepsodont: Can you share your insight on obtaining cards? Because your guide assumes a person has those cards and in abundance. I'm about a third of the way into Book III of single player, have redeemed 32k of gold on an army sized booster pack, but I have no vampires and only one spymistress. Also, I don't have 3 copies of either buff you suggested for a hero build. Where are you getting the goods?
You can gain some cards for completing missions but mostly you should buy booster packs. We would recommend inviting some people to the game, so you can receive your share of gold when they progress (and when they're active enough - also diamonds). You should also go to the Arena, even if only for casual and not ranked games, because they also allow you to earn more gold. Have an active gold doubler during all of the above and you'll have no problem with buying at least a few booster packs and getting enough copies of desired cards without spending a real-world dime.
One more advice: winning streaks in PvP Arena multiply your experience points A LOT! That's the quickest way to level up but of course you need to demonstrate some skills. When you level up, you get Diamonds as rewards and booster packs from time to time. I personally recommend playing on the Arena, where most fun is. By winning a game in the Ranking mode you're awarded with 1000 Gold - that's 2000 with Gold Doubler (which you get for free on LVL 7, 10 and then on every 10th). That means that 16 won matches later you can buy the largest booster pack. We see players netting over 100k Gold daily from just playing and having fun. And BTW, in the meantime you complete quests as you play so you get additional stream of Diamonds as a bonus. Good luck
