All of the weapon unlocks are equippable. There's also an acheivement for beating the game with only the normal weapons.
Also, here's an update on the update. It was submitted to apple about two weeks ago, they rejected it (for a really dumb reason), and I resubmitted it. So that means it's about two weeks away still.
