There are no ads and none of the hardcore FTP shenanigans. There are two currencies, both of which are obtainable in game, and there is a stamina system in which each hole or online matchup uses a set increment, but none of it is aggressively implemented. The stamina setup regenerates at a pretty generous rate. I've personally made one $3 in-app purchase, not out of necessity, but simply to play a lottery draw for equipment. B++ promotional match. Most of my gear is 2-3*. I go against a guy with all 4* gear. I'm up 1500 points going into round 3, after he shot the last hole OB for a bogey, and I got par. I par the last course, but he uses some skill I've never seen that lets his ball glide through the air almost all the way across the course, and lands a birdie out of nowhere to beat me. Forces me back 6 points, so I have to win another match just to try to promote again. This guy matched my shots, except then he got a bogey, and even shot OB.
