Erm... you know you don't HAVE to pay for DLC. You can still just play the game. Some of you are going on about it as if it was compulsary!
Well think about this: You see Simcity 3000 in the App store and you buy it (assuming it has no DLC) but you oprn it up and to even get a good piece out of it youi have to pay money for DLC. Me I rather buy a game in full (by that I mean has the full game in it no DLC what so ever) without no DLC.
Hmm yes not including parts of games which should have been there in the first place is certainly an issue... Not what apple intended though.
wow this is good news! I just hope they are priced reasonable. I get nervous about these industry giants pricing games very high. But we will see!!
Simple google search brought this up: http://www.iphonegamenetwork.com/gdc-ea-mobile-going-big-with-iphone-announcements
Wait. Do I see Monopoly CLASSIC in that list?! You're kidding me. I paid for the Monopoly app in the AppStore. That sucks...........
I don't think that Monopoly Classic will sell well, seeing as how there is already another one, and that one is not so great.
its a pity the sport ones wont be til august/september for the release of the 2010 games. i would love them soon
iPhone 3 hardware? Let's get this straight: Apple hasn't announced anything, and rumors to the contrary aside they most likely will not release a major hardware revision in the coming year. It will be a MINOR revision at most. So, no new GPU, no new CPU, no increase in RAM. And so these games, contrary to what you may think, will be coded for the existing hardware, as the existing hardware has proved more than capable of running games of this sort. I honestly don't understand why you'd think otherwise. I put this new iPhone hardware nonsense rumor in a higher echelon of silliness than even the premium price section nonsense that still rears its head around here from time to time even though it has mostly been shown, time and time again, to be nothing more than a RUMOR with no basis in FACT.
They almost HAVE to release a new iPhone model to keep consumer interest up. If they don't update the line for a full two years it will be easily surpassed and sales will drop. People are ADD with cellphones these days. That said, I doubt it will be a major revision, just a bumping of specs and maybe a slight change to the form factor. Maybe they will introduce colors or something. These games sound great. I am especially looking forward to SSX, C&C, and Madden. They better do a good job on them.
That's what I was getting at. Minor revision, sure. Maybe even that mythical iPhone Nano. Who knows? But I sincerely doubt they'd release a major hardware revision. Not this soon. Next two years, yeah...but now? We have to keep in mind that the App Store for the current devices has only been open for a year. It's still got a bit of life in it, to say the least.
To the above posters discussing iPhone 3.0: I believe the concern is that the new microtransaction system coming with 3.0 will be greatly abused by EA by charging for every little DLC. However, I was too lazy to read through the rest of the forum so I may be mistaken about that subject.
YAY! FIFA!!! But when are they releasing this? NFS alone has been delayed for 6 months. I guess we're getting FIFA 2012??
