Still Gameloft is the worst ever company for the platform. I can't name one top quality game of them.

Well seeing as Chillingo doesn't really make the games themselves, I would say Gameloft. Then EA - they are really stepping up their game recently.

    1. Chillingo (their games are fun)
    2. Gameloft (their graphics are nice)
Distant 3. EA (Mirrors edge is good, but they delayed reckless racing)
    4. Ngmoco. They suck now, not even because of the freemium.

I agree. Chillingo is decent, EA is... alright, sort of. The others can burn.

Uh, Modern Combat 1 and 2? Greatest FPSs on the platform? I guess it's all matter of opinion. Just don't say a game is bad without justifying the reasons. ;). Or, for that matter, saying a game is good.

Chillingo gas a lot of crap but a few good ones. But I've wasted too much on them for the good ones to make up for it!

I'd say EA due to all the big titles, majority of which are fairly good for a mobile. And the sales make up for the (lack of) gameplay.

I don't care if a game is decent, if there is nothing original about it. You can't argue that there isn't one unique, new or in any way different Gameloft game.

    Chillingo, by far.

    Although I prefer Indie devs.

What makes the other developers better? Just originality? Okay. Well I guess that's your opinion.

What else? I doubt that it takes much to create an okay quality game if you have another game to copy in 90%. What makes games good is creativity, and bigger companies simply don't have that much. Especially on the iDevice: Gameloft copies successful games from other platforms, EA makes ports of their games. Indie devs don't have that much money or that many people, so they need to compensate for that with ideas, which results in a better game usually.

Everything about the iPhone screams anti-FPS, there aren't any really good ones on the platform period. I have plenty of reasons but don't feel obliged to write them down again, I've done that enough already.

I dare say the iPhone pulled off FPS better than the Wii.

I agree with friendil about the PSP and possibly DS, but Wii? Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition is one of the greatest games of all time. Not technically FPS but basically the same idea. Metroid is better than anything the iPhone has ever seen too.

Metriod Prime 3 was probably one of my favourite FPS games of all time.

That FPS Metriod on the DS wasn't awful either. But yeah FPS games don't really work on the PSP very well. The best was Resistance Retribution, and that was a 3rdPS and did very well of making up for its short comings, but other than that. Bleh.

FPS Games on the iPhone have been mixed for me. While I had no trouble popping off headshots without autoaim in the first Modern Combat, it still felt weird to do so. N.O.V.A. was an odd one as well. But it worked fine for touch screen that's for sure.

    Doing nothing of importance.
    Somewhere
It's tough... I mean, the Wii has some pretty cool shooters, but the controls have killed me on more than one occasion, especially trying to play Call of Duty 4 on it. I would accidentally move the remote a bit and send my aim way off.

That said, the iPhone has its faults too. It's near impossible to quickly aim down the sights, take down the target, and go back without being extremely experienced at iPhone shooters, a task easily performed in shooters on any other console.

Now for the poll... I ended up going with Gameloft. They've made the most progress in iPhone gaming, leading the way for many other fantastic games to be made. Without games like Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes, Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, and many others, we'd probably be way behind in 3D gaming, and many of the amazing games we're playing right now may not have existed. They've also done an amazing job porting games previously thought impossible, like Rayman 2 (which was ridiculous for its time), Driver, and even Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within. They really helped to prove the iDevice as a real gaming platform, and have done more to help advance gaming on the platform more than any other company I can think of.
