GUYS! I'm going to E3 tomorrow from 12 to 6! Start throwing titles my way that I should play, normally I come up with a list but this year I am pretty much clueless. I know I wanna get my hands on Skyrim and Arkham City... And obviously the PSV and Cafe, but god knows that the lines for those things will be hours long, and I only have so much time.
I refuse to call it vita to me it's the psp 2 and unless Sony do something really stupid between now and it launching it's a must buy gadget for me even if it's just for wipeout 2048 although no doubt there will be many more games to tempt me. I played wipeout pulse a lot on the first psp which is a very good game I expect this one will be much better.
I want you to get your hands on Skyrim and tell me everything I could possibly want to know and more.
I don't think it's a terrible name. Besides, it's just going to become the PSV anyway, which is actually kind of clever on Sony's part, since it's their fifth gaming console (after, obviously, PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3). Even though I've become pretty attached to my PlayStation consoles, I'm interested to see what Nintendo's new system is like. I'm a little skeptical about it from early reports (particularly the idea of controllers with 6" HD screens included -- how much will they end up costing?!), but it will still be neat to see what they bring to the table.
I think I'm looking forward to Far Cry 3 the most. I loved Far Cry 2, but I'm pleased they've returned back to the tropical island setting. Shame it's not coming until 2012, but that's ok as there are tons more games to look forward to. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
I know consoles/handhelds are 99.9% of what's at E3, but I'm curious if any descent iOS news has come out. I think last year at E3 was when we found out about Secret of Mana and FFT. It would be neat if we got some more announcements like that.
I doubt the 3G would be used for playing Call of Duty online. It will be for turn-based stuff and small games like the inevitable Fruit Ninja and such. I'm not convinced that the Vita will be a successful platform for those types of games, though. I think most people who want to play games like that will get an iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, Android or WP7, and those are a lot more portable (well, not the iPad) and convenient. Anyway, the best news out of E3 is Trials Evolution! Woohoo! That and Fruit Ninja Kinect.
Vita sounds odd for a console... That was the name of a nightclub in my town! What do you all think of the Assassin's Creed videos?
...And there it is. Looks pretty bulky. Two thumbsticks, two triggers, giant screen in the middle, four face buttons, arrow keys. Screen can essentially display anything that the TV does. Stylus included. Interesting interactivity with the Wii remote. Sticks onto the Wii gun peripheral to be used as a scope. Includes a camera. Controller's screen can be used as a magnifying glass. Wii U coming 2012. EDIT: Excuse me, four triggers. The controller must be connected to the Wii U to function. Cannot be used as a portable gaming device (i.e. you cannot just take it wherever you go). HOLY CRAP EDIT: SUPER SMASH BROS. for both 3DS and Wii U. Could work together in some fashion. Still very early development; no footage as of yet. Insane support planned. Ghost Recon Online, Assassin's Creed, Arkham City, Tekken, Darksiders II, Dirt, Aliens Colonial Marines, Ninja Gaiden 3... All in HD. Lots of shooters. Looks like Nintendo's trying to appeal to the hardcore. Pulling all the stops. EA's on stage. Maybe Battlefield? Teasing EA Sports support, Battlefield, open online functionality. Here's the Wii U box:
I guess if Microsoft has decided they want to out-Wii the Wii, it's only fair if Nintendo decides they'll take up the 360's space? That thing looks...uncomfortable. And expensive.
They're obviously trying to bring gamers back, but I'm wondering what the appeal of games like Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Arkham City will be when the new system finally comes out. The absolute earliest it'll be out will be next April; according to most reports, it seems more likely to be Summer/Fall 2012. By that time, games like AC:R and Arkham City will be about a year old. What's the selling point -- especially considering that the Wii-U is almost certainly going to be significantly more expensive than the PS3 and the 360, even if neither Sony nor Microsoft have any price drops between now and then.
The Wii U looked pretty epic. I can't wait to see this in my living room! I really hope the price is right... like the other console systems in the past-- $250?
I think the system will work. I liked almost all Nintendo releases. I like the idea of the game being played on TV then having it transferred right back to the controller. With the success in almost all their systems, I can assume they have almost everything polished and ready to go. But I do wish they would stop making new consoles every four years (unlike Apple and their "i" products every year). The Wii would've worked fine, I think.
