I played the first level. It feels like there are three different types of energy and and four types of currency *hyperbole*. It was 'insta-delete' as soon as I saw the 'get more stuff by bothering your friends on Facebook' thing. If there's a good game in here, I can't see it through all the balogna. No thank you.
I am not a minecrafter, junk jack player, or any other mining game as I have tried most if not all of them and they didn't appeal to me. However, I really like Dwarven Den a lot! RPG mining game? Really? Well thats what its turning out to be to me, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are boss levels later on, I only hit level 8 . . . are there boss levels? Either way, here's my quick rundown: Pros: - Great art style, cohesive elements - Upgradable gear/tools, all gear items are graphically shown on your toon, loot with stats - Slick UI, easy to navigate, small learning curve, does allow room for a challenge - Random miner on each level provides a nice touch - Generous energy replenishment, easily farm lower levels for loot Cons: - Facebook integration, no incentive for those that abandoned Facebook such as an option for Twitter - Gem IAP window slams user with too much info, forces me to immediately close it - IAP limited to consumable currency, no option for a coin/energy doubler or IAP unlock to a full game experience If you're trying clear blocks on your map then you're going to be out of energy way too fast. The strategy in this game is choosing your moves wisely based on what part of the map you can see at any given time, clearing maps doesn't really reward anything from what I can see. And yes gear does add to your energy pool, as well as allow you to break certain blocks with less hits. See what you can gain from the forge before moving on.
This is a known issue that we have a fix for and will be available in the next update. Currently, you have to be connected to the internet when starting the game or the issue you described (Play button disabled) will occur. To fix this, connect to the internet to log in (this may require you to force quit the app first). Once you've logged in you can go into offline mode and continue playing. Again that's the temporary fix for the time being and the update should make it so that you can start the game in offline mode just fine. Thanks for catching this!
Hmm, I'm up to level 8 and haven't seen any need for IAP so far. The energy and currencies are discouraging at first, but they are really fair so far. Energy is only lost when you lose a level, not when you enter one. Gems are used to buy gear and energy. Haven't needed to but energy to beat any level. Gear can be crafted, so no need to buy it. You do find gems, but it's at a pretty slow rate. Gold is used to forge two items into a better one. Gold is plentiful, you can easily get enough for fusion (2040) per level. You can replay levels as much as you want. If you really wanted to grind, you could replay the extremely easy level 4 over and over to get the best pick in the game (it provides you with one pick and plenty of gold each time you play level 4). Given, I am still clearing levels without dying, so level 7 or 8 would be better to replay more gold and more loot (picks, hats, and backpacks). I'm having a lot of fun, so I'm glad I gave it a try. It definitely looks like free-to-play garbage at first glance.
Please close / delete your guild. Our toucharcade guild has over 150 users, people will become confused. There doesn't need to be two Still really enjoying this game! I haven't read previous pages but can anyone tell me about this guild prize dragon axe. I haven't seen anything about it. I've done 3 guild quests and only have received stars.
Items bought with gems can't be upgraded? Also I think I'm hitting the paywall already at about level 25. It starts getting pretty difficult, lives are spent pretty fast and you either pay up with gems to continue or put the game down for a few hours while the timers countdown. It's pretty annoying at that point, but I guess that's the life of a free to play title.
I'm a few levels ahead of you, and yup, it's easier to mess up in the stages at this point. True, you could think of it as hitting a paywall, but in my case, I started farming the gold levels a bit so I can upgrade my equipment. Got a sturdy rune blade (x2 gold) just for that purpose. But yeah, the game is getting more challenging.
I think they're bigger. Level 19 "Mummy May 1" seems to be the quickest way to get gold so far for me (I've cleared up to level 35), as that seems to be the highest one I can reliably clear with the Rune Blade (2x gold, I don't have the sturdy one yet).
Been enjoying this far more than I thought I would. Currently unlocked up to level 27 and not felt like there's a paywall. Have tried a couple of times to send people free lives but am not sure whether or not it worked. And let's get mining for the toucharcade guild, people! Still 77 stars to be collected in the next 16 hours and 48 minutes!
I started farming as well, I have the Rube Blade also but I upgraded it so it works pretty good. I wish I could get some clarification on if gem bought items can be upgraded as my current backpack can't.
Hiya Cilo. Do you mean upgrading via forge? I was able to forge a keg hammer I bought with one I made. So now I have a wheel blade. Meh. Can't get past 11 (the first mummy level) because it would take WAY more energy than I have to get through all the stone before I got anywhere near energy crystals. What am I missing? Do I need to keep farming/forging a better blade?
Thanks but can't use more than 2 bombs without bringing down the ceiling on that particular level so I don't even waste energy on mining tech...unless I'm missing something.
You'll need more power on your weapon to be able to cut away at stone in less hits. I just redid 11 to see what you were talking about, and I think I used 2-3 bombs at most with 1 cave in. The rest I cut through, although my Rune Blade has 37 power so most likely a big difference than some of the starter weapons. Once you get past the first two corridors you should be fine since there are a lot of energy/tech refill crystals. This is the Rune Blade I upgraded with gold. This is a backpack I bought with gems, as you can see no option to upgrade with gold.
I think it's just that "Sturdy" items can't be upgraded - I've got some "Sturdy" items that I've found and some that I've made with the forge (by combining two other items), none of them can be upgraded.
You need to blow up the stone in the first bit with bombs. Just run away when there's a cave in. And don't use the Rune Blade, or else you won't get enough tech from the blue crystals.
Could you have meant level 18? Got a sturdy sprocket pick from it; it's not as good as my current axe, but it sells for 165 gold per pop, so it's worth farming.
Thanks Cilo and HLW. I do have the rune blade in its infancy now after farming and forging via level 4 but I don't see how to upgrade anything with gold (even in those screenshots). Maybe I have to be at a later level? I do have the -25% cost of tech backpack so that could offset the rune blade a bit. I like that azure better for the fragile ceilings though!
