Think we might make an iPhone version and price it at $1.99 instead of $2.99 like the iPad. That would make it better? Or do you prefer a universal one?

    fixes and english subs version

    Hi,

    Thanks for your feedback.

We've added a server update that greatly improves stability.
    http://www.floatingcube.com/DVDPlayer/download.php

We've also added a server version that automatically turns on English subs.
    www.floatingcube.com/download/downloads/DVDPlayerServerEngSub.zip

To add a sub selector on the iPad requires further review from Apple which takes a little longer. If you tell me which subs you want, we can create a custom server version with those subs for you.

P.S. the show selection feature is also coming soon.

    Cheers,
    Ian

If your site has a link to the app, I’m not finding it. I’d recommend making a direct link to the app be very clear on both your site and your announcement post. Best of luck with app :) I’ve bookmarked it for when I get an iPad.

(Also, your DVDPlayer site just says “Run the iPad application” but it’s 100% clear what the name of it is. “DVD Player for iPad” sounds like a description rather than a name. So people might not even know what to search for manually in the Store. Don’t worry, I found it :) But I just hate to see you lose sales because people have less patience to dig.)

    EDIT:

Re Universal: yes, please :) $2.99 is fine for an iPhone version, no need to drop to $1.99 in my view... but $2.99 to get both versions is much nicer than $5 for both. I’m sure I’ll have an iPad someday, so I strongly prefer buying Universal apps. (Not that I boycott separate apps—I just have a preference.)

Also, a feature request (for iPad and iPhone alike): enable VGA and other video-out in iOS 4! :) I can imagine using this to play a DVD to TV, when that TV lacks a DVD player, or when the Mac handles a scratched disc better.

    Ooooh! Ooooh!

Slick! But you know what would make it concentrated awesomeness? Remote playing outside your network.

I'd love to take my iPad to the gym and watch a DVD loaded into my MacBook at home...

Any way to set up a VPN tunnel between devices, then stream between them?

That would make elliptical workouts FLY by!!! Who's with me?

    :D

That is so full of win!

    Works great! THANKS!

Really looking forward to the updates! Hopefully that will allow you to make the software more full-featured (allow changing of preferences, etc).

Thanks Adam for the suggestions. The iTunes links are a really good idea, and we'll get it done.

Thanks also for your input on the universal app. We've decided to go ahead on a universal app based on your arguments : )

@heykenny: yes, we're currently working on a navigation system, that will allow you to read such files. That will take a few weeks.

@troutmagnet: thanks! we're working on a new feature called "Save a DVD!". Basically its a button on the iPad, that will allow you to store the DVD onto your iPad, such that you can continue watching it when you're outside. (Not sure though if apple will approve something like that)

@ravenvii: thanks for the kind comments : )

I don't think this is what he (and me) wants. The DVD stream should be available over the Internet like Air Video manages to do it for other video streams.

BTW, it is fascinating that this thread is still in "iPad Games". Are all moderators on holidays?

Hm... that would be a little tricky. We'll look at it. Thank you for the suggestion!

P.S. I'm not sure what a suitable forum is for this. Lounge?

No, "iPhone OS Apps". iPhone OS is just the old name for iOS. This forum is for all non-games iOS apps.

So does the app just stream the biggest video title, or can you interact with the DVD's menu system? This would be great for working through TV series discs. Any chance of the feature being added?

The app currently streams all the videos in sequence (i.e it'll start with the first TV show and keep streaming till the last).

Our next update v1.2 to be released in 2 weeks will have a type of menu system where you can choose the episode to watch.

    Thank you for your interest!
