I actually really enjoyed this game a lot and I was really impressed with how addictive it was. I'd really love to hear from the developer on how this game was created. What tools he used etc. This game really inspired me to look into iphone development myself.
I have had this game for a while(a year maybe) but I stopped playing it because after a while, it felt repetitive. Without a strong story, I felt no desire to keep on playing the game. So I removed the game from my phone thinking that I would never play it again. But recently, there was an update to the app. I was like, hm really, an update? What kind of updates would there be? So I installed the game again just to have a look at the updates. And whoa, I was pleasantly surprised. The developer added retina support to the game. He added Gamecenter integration. He even tweaked some of the dialogues to improve the flow of the story. The best thing about the update? The developer did not promise anything to the users. He just came up with an update and that made his existing users happy. Even though I think I will still stop playing this game after a while, I still think it is commendable that the developer has updated the game even though the game has never received much attention from the majority of iOS gamers. Thank you, developer of Dungeons and Such.
Not sure what's up with the crash ppl are experiencing, but I have experienced none in the full version. This game is definitely worth checking out, if you like RPGs that is. Just happen to read about it on the idevice game thread on neogaf, or else wouldnt have found it! Highly recommended (and support indie dev as well)
So what's the difference between full & lite? I didn't see anything listed on iTunes... or anywhere else.
The Lite version ends after some level. I forget which one. If you like the game I'd buy the full one before the Lite version ends, because you'll be starting over from square one with full version. The full version also has more items and such, and presumably no end (or maybe there's an end, but it comes much later - I'm not sure). I think they should have ended the lite version sooner as I was bummed I was going to have to start over. Then again, I bought the full version, so I guess the lite version worked as-is. I have to say, when I first started playing the Lite version I was like WTF? But then an hour and 30 minutes later I hit the end point, and then bought the full version. This game isn't perfect - for one thing I think the penalty for dying is far too minimal - but I can't deny that for some reason this game is really addicting. I found myself firing it up this morning when I should have been getting ready for work.
Yeah, it's a cool little dungeon crawler. I just got it since it went on sale and I'm enjoying a lot as a casual title.
+1 - It's a little more involving than Cozy Quest, because you tap and slash the monsters. I know that seems minor, but it matters.
I must be getting hungry...i thought i read "Dungeons & Sushi ($2.99)... hey, maybe that's a great idea for a cool game!
I know this is an oldie (but goodie), and was hoping someone would check out this thread. Does anyone know what the two hidden achievements are? I was hoping that they would be in the realm of beating the dungeon or learning all spells and skills, but neither was an achievement. Thanks!
Hidden Achievements Hello: I just started playing Dungeons & Such a few days ago, and it is terrific. I defeated the double-headed dragon, and am playing it a second time. It is that good. I have three questions: 1. What are the two hidden achievements. Some hints would be nice. 2. What does the shore do? It states that a light breeze brings the smell of the ocean. But nothing is available. 3. I built my home and have the safe. However, there is a button for Storage Chest. When I press it, it does not allow me to store anything. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robert
I don't know about the first two, but when you're at your home, press the items button and you'll see that you can deposit items to your safe/storage. Hope that helps.
Responses Thanks, Pham. I spoke with the developer yesterday, and he said the same thing. On top of that, here is what he said. 1. What are the two hidden achievements. Some hints would be nice. 1) the hidden achievements are for defeating A Lot of enemies. Note: I am not sure how many, but probably 7500 to 10K per achievement. 2. What does the shore do? It states that a light breeze brings the smell of the ocean. But nothing is available. 2) I was in the process of making a new feature from the shore, but I had no chance to make it because I had no time. Maybe when I have free time I can implement it. 10 Tips: Dungeons & Such Hello, all! Here are some tips I have when playing Dungeons & Such [presently, I am a level 126 character]: 1. Always get the best equipment. It pays off. 2. Use the ores when you get them to upgrade your equipment. Again, it pays off. 3. The guild members don't really add much to the mix. I defeated the game on level 80 [and am playing it again], and my two guild members had little to do with my victory. I would skip this. 4. The two spells I use frequently are heal and shield. And the one skill I use is the one where you can see your enemy's HP [not sure of the name, but it appears at the top of the skills list]. You should get enough Intelligence points to buy the heal spell and shield spell. 5. In the woods, pay the 800 GP to have Steroid Man build you a home. Then, get this thin scale and beast fur to have a safe. This way, when you ravel to the dungeons, you can put all of your money in the safe, so as not to lose half of it when you die. 6. Before you venture into a dungeon, here is what you should do: a. Buy potions, magic waters, and green teas from the shop [you won't need anything else] b. Put all gp into your safe except for 6 GP. c. Max out your shield and scan spell and skill [max value is at 99] d. Spend 5 GP to stay at the inn, which will restore all MP to full. e. When you enter the dungeon, you will have 1 GP remaining. Why the one GP? You should always walk around with something in your pocket. 7. RUN from the dragons. 8. The best equipment isn't always in the store. So, when you get a piece of equipment, check the stats against the stas of the comparable piece of equipment, and if better, use it. 9. If there is a choice piece of equipment, and you cannot wear it because you lack a stat, whenever you level up, level up in that stat. 10. The magic user character does not give you an advantage, as most spells can be played as the warrior, and you get the value of opening up a super duper mamma jamma on the foes. Those are my tips. What are yours? frisbee10461
Been a while since I played this, but I unlocked everything and got to my third playthrough. I remember having masses of mana and magic damage and spamming multitarget spells, like 'Fire', even if there was only one opponent, because it would hit them four times, almost always resulting in instant death on their part, whether it was one or four opponents. When I got a big wave with like eight opponents, I'd use 'Earthshake' (I think, it's called that?) and the whole wave would vanish.
