Rarely but once in a while the King spawn seems to be hidden between too many secret passages, or room not connected. So far 4 instances of this were noted. To deal with it, I have added a King spawn in another cave: When you are standing one tile south of the skulls, go all the way east to the end. That cave also rolls a King spawn. Make sure you play v1.1.80 or later though.
The spare dungeon on the east worked, thanks a lot! (from a narrative point of view, it seems the main HQ was a decoy, and the king was hiding in a less prominent place for protection...)
This game looks to be up my alley but I'm not a fan of managing many characters in a party. Would it be possible to play this game with one or maybe two characters at all? Thanks!
The game is not designed to force you to min max each character. There are hardly any decisions required, you can play with a very light touch in terms of caring for a characters skills and spells. Choose the default party option. Give it a try and if you don't like it message me over my toucharcade account and I refund you.
Based on this response alone, this has become one of my favorite games/developers. I know other companies may offer refunds. But, to openly offer it on your own is whole other world of proper buisness ethic. Nice job!
Cool man, sounds good to me. I'll pick up a copy. Thanks for the refund offer but even if I don't like it, I won't ask for that, I stand by my purchases Edit: I've only scratched the surface but I really like the feel of the game, the UI and also all the options that are available. I can see myself losing dozens upon dozens of hours playing this game. I will play more and provide my impressions both here and on the app store review.
Played a couple of hours. I ended up making a new team with 3 archers, 1 fighter, 1 mage and 1 cleric. I did this primarily because I wanted to automate the battles a bit and take care of stuff from ranged. I managed to kill the white rat on my 2nd attempt. Good stuff. This game could use a manual. I know I've seen some information peppered here and there but a one-stop shop for info (especially about spells and stuff) would be grand. In-game resource would be even better. EDIT: Just found this link (https://dungeonsofchaos.wordpress.com/howtoplay/) so I'll check it out and see if it helps me with the mechanics. Also, and now I'm just throwing this out there... I realized you couldn't make smaller teams than 6, meaning you have to have a max 6 party team. Would it be remotely viable to allow a minimum or 2 or 3 and just ensure enemy groups aren't too large based on a calculation? Or are there just too many other variables at play? Smaller teams could even get bigger bonuses like extra HP/defense or something. Just so you know - I never play games with parties, but I could not resist yours. It's good enough to make me play it to enjoy the rest, and only because of the auto-fight system you have which is rather brilliant.
Glad you like it and thanks for the feedback! I think there are some monsters where you need the tactical chocked granted by 6 players. A mob of rats alone, due to flanking impact on evasion, could be too much for s single character. Some monsters have abilities to particularly strike you when you think you have he advantage (at high difficulty settings summoned monsters can spawn in the left side of the arena where you will hide your spellcasters). I am not sure it would be a good experience, and if you wouldn't get frustrated having to play through 4 times to try out all the advanced player classes. By the way next update (few days) will give a choice of character picture so that you can differentiate players that have same class.
That's cool man, it was a long shot and I totally understand the constraints. Truth be told I'm warming up to a 6 party entourage. Sorry if it's been asked already but how do you find secret areas? I've already found secret tiles with treasure but those aren't terribly difficult to figure out.
I've been playing rpg's for 20 years (though not a lot of them have been crpg's) and this is the first game I've ever played that gives you free access to all your party's equipped items while trading with someone. Thank you for that!! Otherwise this interface and gameplay flow has taken me some time to get used to, but I'm starting to really dig it. Kudos, mister.
Secret areas come in many forms: in randomised dungeons (orcs) there is a certain % that a corridor connector to a room is empty vs door vs secret passage. Those you most likely will spot walking past, with a decent perception skill between your players or wizard eye spell active. Also in randomised dungeons there can be rooms that I designed to contain a passage with a secret passage like an alcove on its side. Or one connection two half-rooms. Those can be tougher and designed to reward high perception players. And then there is fixed maps, like the Minotaur castle, where it pays off to check minimap for black spots...
Nice little patch. I really appreciate that apart from now being able to change each characters avatar you can also change their gender. I always appreciate this option in a party based rpg. Oh, and being able to do that with a current saved game is especially welcome. Thanks!
You are most welcome, and thanks for the feedback. People requested this every now and then I just needed to trust my own copy/paste/scale/hue-correct skills to make a few variants of characters.
thanks for the patch Volker, every improvement for this gem is welcome! btw, this game is a must have for all the old time 2D rpg lovers, it reminds me the excelent old SSI AD&D series on PC (Pool of Radiance trilogy, Dragonlance, etc) for its complexity in stats, loot, battle rules/fromations, etc, a really good immersive rpg, imho the best in its genre on the app store so far.
new features ! v1.2.72 now live with many new functionalities: - choose the specific basic auto attack spell, instead of using teh most proficient one - selection of 6 different pictures (and gender reference option) for each class. at character creation stage as well as page 8 of the options now - value sort for inventory + stash - 'take all' button in fight result screen, to bypass inventory screen when grinding - option to not show daily skill reset notification - minor fixes, including an embarrassing issue with raising spell proficiency (rare though) - now calculates HEAL SELF correctly for monsters. Lich was healing too much which caused me to look hard at my formulas - nerfed-up (made grinding less easy) the larger monsters' damage output in 2nd half of game. If you notice anything totally out of whack though please send me a message / post here as I may have gone overboard, who knows. Hard to play test because different players may have different parties / levels / equipment powers. - you can now see a player's original FEAT in the stats menu, another fan wish. Please note most feats only have impact on starting stats, skills, spells, equipment so the main stats show current status which includes any feat bonus. Enjoy!
