There aren't many 1st person dungeon crawlers on iOS that feature random level generation. And I personally prefer that over hand crafted games like Grimrock. I'm an iPad gamer though and this appears to be iPhone. I might buy it anyway. geno11233 Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 1,054 0 0 #8 geno11233, May 30, 2015 Love to see a gameplay video. The swipe gesture controls are a little loose on the iPad, but this was obviously intended for phone. Standard char archetypes, but only four positions, which always presents the dilemma: which skills are critical? So far, much like Bards Tale, combat is turn based, which is fine by me; never cared for the real time button scramble of the EOB games. You set all party combat actions, then see results. Unfortunately, this fire-and-forget style combat limits the depth of tactics that can otherwise emerge if you were issuing commands a step at a time. Still, it works well enough. Don't expect Grimrock-like smooth rotation when moving, dungeoneers movement is step-based, old-school. Visuals aren't bad, but limited animations and a few clashing textures. Again, nothing ground breaking, but solid, should scratch most of yer dungeon-crawler itch. @DE_Clements Active Member Dec 7, 2013 26 0 0 #12 @DE_Clements, May 30, 2015 Last edited: May 30, 2015 Early 1st IMPs: Pretty Good, worthy of support!! ### .. It feels and looks well thought out. I especially like the grid paper mapping system. Nice touch visually, yet also very helpful in navigation. Great old school Fantasy visuals, nice type fonts, status effects indicators during battle, auto-battle button for a quick turn-based round (as needed). Also some minor animations here and there to spice up your crawling experience. The weapons and items on your person(s) are only single color icons, but I feel future improvements will jazz things up with time. Agree on prior comments with swipe controls on iPad; a minor issue, but not a deal breaker. If you're like me and already own LoG on PC, this is a great place to satisfy the itch on mobile and give another dev a shot for less#. I # it! I'm truly glad I bought this to fully support the developer, especially a new one who is deserving! ######### Jorlen Well-Known Member Jan 7, 2009 1,094 2 38 IT Canada #13 Jorlen, May 30, 2015 For those interested in more reviews, I found out that this was released on Android first. Here's the google play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dungeoneers.game&hl=en I think I'll hold off until (or IF) the developer makes it universal. I'd imagine that because all the graphics are pixel art it might not be easy to just re-scale everything to ipad related resolutions, but the one comment about swipe controls feeling loose on ipad has me worried. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #14 AppUnwrapper, May 30, 2015 I bit. It's ok. A bit underwhelming after playing Grimrock. My main issues with it are that the text is kind of annoying. Considering it's meant for iPhone, I think they should have made the text easier on the eyes. Also, it takes too many taps to make a move in battle, so battles feel really slow. You have to select, say, skill, then the skill, then the enemy, then the enemy again to confirm. And so on with each of the four characters. Even if there's only one enemy to attack. I'll upload some video soon. But I stopped on the second floor because I was getting bored with the pace. I'll let you know more upon completion. nosoup4crr Well-Known Member Apr 29, 2011 689 0 0 #20 nosoup4crr, Jun 1, 2015 Well...just wrapped it up. It was close, but I was able to beat it w/out a character higher than level 13. That's unfortunate, really, since a lot of the strategy I was attempting came from tier 15 and 20 skills. the gear is just too good to require leveling up. My min/max side wants to level up and grind out perfect gear. Maybe after a while. There just isn't enough diversity to keep it compelling. Only 10 different enemies (I think). Really like the gear and skills even if they need tweeking. The gameplay is fun. But the game is really suffering from a lack of content, currently. That said, I got roughly 12-15 hours of fun out of it. $2.99 is the right price-point. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
