I think the solution I had was the best one for fixing all issues that people had with the Mimic, but fireflame decided to remove it. Maybe it's best to trust his decision on it and leave it at that. Hey fireflame, are you still thinking about adding a "real-time" game mode?
Oh I definitely trust fireflames judgement and apologize if I'm beating a dead horse. He's had a nack for only taking the best of ideas. I just figure it can't hurt to share ideas with him. Like my one above would also allow him to scale the difficulties a little more and help ease new players into the game more by lowering the number of specials originally thrown at them while allowing the veterans to be (largely) unaffected. It'd also potentially help people know roughly where they were in a game. "Oh hey the liche popped up. I must be past 500 turns." Anyway, keep up the great work fireflame!
Can you explain how the Mimic worked and why it was removed? I got the game after it was taken out. Ty
It was a monster which looked like a shield, coin, or potion (not sure about potion), but slightly different. You could match it with swords/other monsters, but if you matched it with the tile it looked like it would take half of your hitpoints. I didn't like it because I have terrible eyes/I told Fireflame it took advantage of external factors beyond the player's control and it was unfair...so he took it out.
Yeah the art was mirrored for a mimic. It also grunted when you tried to chain with it so it wasn't too bad to notice if you were paying attention. I did get caught every once and a while but for the most part i just thought they were a neat and fun special! Also I know a large part of the reason it was removed was all the "I found a bug" posts and emails fireflame got where people thought they were chaining two different types of tiles together (because you could chain the mimic with swords obviously).
I thought mimic was a genious addition. The icon it copied was always backwards and as you explained, grunted when touched. I can understand it being difficult to spot for some, but can't understand the bug reports. It, like many other factors of this game, was just something "original"...
Hah I think I would have enjoyed the sudden surprise of losing half my hitpoints... of course, I would be flabbergasted at first for losing half my health after matching potions, but once I figured what it was I bet I would laugh Too bad it got removed.
The other "bug" part of the mimic was the "I have no skulls on the board, but I'm still taking damage" type. I liked the mimic as well, but FF claimed he was getting multiple bug reports per day (I assume the ones you submit through the App Store), so I totally understand him taking it out. I would have done the same.
were you one of the folks asking for mimic to be taken out? that was a damn good monster. made people pay more attention to their actions. I MISS YOU MIMIC <3
It didn't quite work for me the way you described. I found that Treasure and Treasure Chamber only work together if you use TC and then Treasure on the *same turn*. Therefore the only way it works for me is letting a big pile of *coins* acummulate on screen, then use SC and Treasure, which will collect the coins and a bunch of new coins will appear, after collecting these a new batch of coins appears, as if I had activated TC again. For logical reasons, this combo will not work if I start out by collecting any other tile than coins. But what a freaking good combo it is. I have for the first time passed 100 max armour =D. I modified the strategy; in the place of Mana Potion skill I use maxed-out Slash, and because I have the quicken upgrade on my necklace and the "-1 cooldown on the 4th skill chosen" perk, I can use Slash EVERY TURN. I'm also using the Dragonkin race, which means I can set a skull on fire every turn if I so desire. You could be thinking "but you have no survival skills, what do you do if you're in a pinch?". Well, because Slash collects me a row of tiles every turn, not only I'm constantly recovering health and armor because of the collected tiles, but it is also removing those tiles and bringing in new ones, which eventually gets me out of the pinch. It's pretty neat. The only drawbacks are that the Mage skull makes my life quite hard (it stops all skill cooldowns from recovering, which effectively inutilizes my Slash), and that the Dragonkin's fire cannot set Special enemies on fire, only regular skulls. Thank you for taking the time to explain the strategy ^^
can some one post a comprehensive guide about different strategies ?? maybe make a post about it?? and to dev ... plz universal support?? by way thanks to dev for awesome game!

That's just a poor feature of how apps and iTunes work together-- if you delete an app, you lose all its data. The only options would be to restore from an older backup or to grab the app data off of your iPhone and manually install it onto your iPad. There's guide on how to do that at the bottom of this page: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=341974
Two things I'd like to suggest to the developers of this great game... *Make an online multiplayer mode with win/loss records! **Make a campaign mode where you don't lose the levels or upgrades you've earned!
I recently had a surge to play again today (a good 3 hours). I saw the coin combo above and it looks gimmicky, but i'll give it a try. I'm a rogue player anyways, but tend to use other skills.
cheap deaths? I find the game highly addicting and enjoyable, but wonder if something can't be done about cheap deaths? I've only come across one or two, but they're really annoying. Has anyone else ever activated Masochism, only to have it spawn a Meat Shield along with all the rest of the skulls? Hardly fair :-(
An online multiplayer mode? That would pretty much be an entirely new game. What sort of campaign are you talking about? One where you don't lose upgrades when you die?
