If it does the one it will likely still do the other, cool. EDIT: I just gained a level for my Raider in Pretzel Hero (Masochism is a handy skill for this).
Question for fire flame whenever you get back... Why doesn't the hack and slash combo kill specials? I don't think it would be overpowered considering you have to use two skill slots for it and one of the two has a fairly large cool down. I would think you should get the credit (xp and gold) for killing them but at the very least I think they should be cleared from the board.
Maybe time just seems to go faster when you're having a good time or you have a lot of apps running in the background? But yeah, I have actually noticed the game dies a bit faster.
Just played several games of the new "Sprint" Challenge mode: When I first read about what the updates were, I was initially disappointed. Now that I've played it, I totally appreciate it and right now feel that it is my preferred way to play. I've been asking for a story mode, this isn't it, but it at least gives me a way to win. Loved: - pacing of upgrades and enemies is faster, more tense, makes each turn seem important - encourages you to try different skills since it's such a short game (100 turns), so you don't feel as committed - there is a winning condition - you still can unlock classes and levels in this mode - like how the score is displayed in real time I feel less guilty playing DR now since I know I will be done in a much shorter time, but then 2 outcomes now occur: 1 - I die before turn 100 and immediately go back in because I know I can get to 100 or 2 - I actually escape, feel so happy, look up my score relative to others... feel less happy... go back into the dungeon for another go. Eventually I'll try the pretzel challenge.
Hi all, I'm back, and am pretty concerned about this PlayHaven freezing issue There's no ads in the paid version of DR nor will there ever be - the PlayHaven interface some of you are seeing when trying to start a game should only be activated via the "More Games" button on the main screen, and certainly shouldn't be freezing anything. Looking into this now and will fix asap. In the meantime, if you encounter this issue: close the game, stop it running in the background (double-click the home button to see list of apps running in background) and start again. Why not just turn your finger a little when tapping a monster that you want to see the tooltip for? Unlockables transfer between devices via achievements, if you're logged into 2 devices with the same account and e.g. have the Raider achievement then they'll both unlock a lvl 1 Raider, if you have the Halfling achievement then they'll both unlock a lvl 5 Raider, and similarly for the Master Raider achievement. If you have the Classy achievement all level 10 classes will be unlocked. Yep, I'll be expanding the High Score screen with more detailed character info now that it's cleaned up a little The skull damage isn't random, since your armour always blocks as much damage as it can and after that gets broken based on durability. I'll add a red background when you're about to die, although some of the special monsters complicate matters somewhat I think they've just got a constantly long queue of updates to sift through, it seems to take about a week before an update even begins to get reviewed, and then a day or 2 until it finishes. It's certainly pretty frustrating at times but I'm sure they're doing the best they can considering how many apps there are in the store Hah doing a Bejeweled mode in DR would be mighty ironic Yeah, it's certainly a bit more luck-dependent but it makes for a very quick game and is reasonably challenging, so it's nice if you just want a quick break after a 1000-turn marathon Yep, also still keen on this hardcore random mode, with the score averaging to deter continuous restarting until you get a good combination Definitely a bug, as mentioned at the top of this post, but I can't seem to reproduce the problem using these steps, does seem like the "More Games" button is getting clicked while it's not visible EDIT: found it, fixed in next update Note that your spikes only activate if your armour isn't completely broken (i.e. at 0). Spiking a spiky is definitely working ok otherwise Hah yeah, the poisoned phylactery is not intentional, will fix Right now none of the skills instantly kill special enemies and I'd like to keep it this way so that killing specials is an effortful exercise (as opposed to evading them using teleport/banish/exorcise). There's lots of ways to make Hack+Slash more frequent and collecting the whole board already feels pretty powerful even without the massive XP+gold bonus that special enemies would provide
That makes a lot of sense. I guess it was just disappointing because based on the descriptions I really thought it was going to clear the whole board and I had a couple fun builds in mind using it instead of a damage pump spell or teleport (my usual abilities for killing specials). I finally got both fully leveled and got a brute so i used them only to have the brute remain and a whole new screen with lots of skulls drop. Yeah i died. Anyway, I'll just have to rethink the new strats is all. Thanks for the response though and I hope you had a great vacation.
Hi fireflame, The transfer between devices doesn't seem to be working for me. On my main device (iPad), I have maxed out several classes, while on my secondary device (iPhone), the most any of my classes are at is level 5. One of them is still showing as locked even though I unlocked all the classes on my iPad. This has been going on since owning the game (1 month). I checked the Game Center and Openfeint achievements and they are all listed there correctly, so it seems to be something to do with the device not pulling in the info (perhaps because its not the device where I earned those achievements?)
Hi fireflame, thanks for a great game that my whole family is playing. Did you address the poison kills liches deadly bug in that roundup? Alison, who just got killed by attacking a spiky in pretzel mode again.
Welcome back fireflame! Loving the new modes, thanks for them! I hope you are still considering a "real time" mode Btw, in Pretzel mode, I think you should make "+VIT" have double the bonus chance since it does not provide the HP boost, thus making it half as strong as the other stat bonuses (in a sense). So maybe something like 0% -> 10% bonus chance instead of the 0% -> 5% chance it has right now.
Thanks for staying strong on this, FireFlame! I think it should always be the case that no skill nor perk (the Assassin's passive ability, for example) can instantly kill Specials besides Banish and Exorcise as it would really disrupt any sense of balance to the game. At least in the case of Hack & Slash, it would make the combo the most potent skills in the game and render all other skills fairly useless in comparison (I far prefer only having a couple of useless skills in the game like Freeze and Steal ).
I *finally* beat Dungeon Sprint after many tries. The faster pace makes it much more difficult. (I normally play on Hard.) After playing this game so frickin much, it's great how these changes totally spruce up the game and give it something new. I wish I could re-buy this game, because this has been such a bargain.
Irony of Elves... Hey Gang, Let me know if I'm missing something obvious in regards to elves in this game. Being an elf means taking half damage from poison. This would appear a handy abilty in itself BUT: The only way one can get poisoned in this game is by the Assassin who, as it is also your arch rival, will give you bigger issues to deal with and therfore nix the advantage of half damage. So this ability is only useful against 2 (normal and rival forms of the Assassin) of the 40 or so specials, 1 of which you'll only see as an elf.
Welcome back aswell fireflame, I hope you had a good trip, the new update is really fun. Do you plan on adding more character classes in future updates?
The elf makes it so any enemies who are poisoned deal half damage to you as long as they are poisoned. I thi k they still take full poison damage. They have one of my fav racial abilities actually.
Alright, just found 2 bugs related to this, I'm guessing you haven't got Rogue unlocked on your iPhone? And looks like the syncing for the master achievements was only unlocking the relevant class at lvl 5 instead of 10. Sorry, this is fixed in next update Yup, poisoned phylacteries are fixed in next update Yes of course Yeah, the elf halves the damage poisoned enemies do (i.e. ones you hit with a poison-upgraded weapon), it still takes full damage from the poisonous special enemy.
Pretzel Hero is great! I've been playing it so much that now when I go back to the normal game I always make knots with the pieces unconsciously. XD Anyway, I've been playing this alot lately. Only have 3 more classes to unlock and then I can work on leveling 'em all up.
Thought of an interesting ability (possibly for a new class similar to a barbarian or Viking) called war cry. It would turn all specials into fleeing specials and halve their attack values. I think it'd be hilarious. Might be overpowered but no better than banish I'd think. A new race could also be vampire (not that this race fits the ability above). It's racial ability could be you gain 0.5% of your max life for each enemy killed. I like it being percentage based because it fits the flavor of a vampire. The older they are (aka more hp) the stronger they get. For example... With 100 hp you'd only get 1 hp per 2 enemie but at higher levels you'll be gaining 5 life per enemy or more. This could become quite powerful when combed with life leeching on the weapon so it'd take some testing to tweak the % and make it balanced. The arch enemy could be vengeful. It too would gain a % of life for each enemy killed and gain one attack point for each enemy killed. Again just some random thoughts. You always seem to pick the good ones so feel free to use them or pitch them and keep up the great work! EDIT: Just to be clear... I mean heal .5% health (similar to life leech on weapons)... not increase the max health.
