Yes, Boost Armor is basically Enchant on steroids, you can usually get one upgrade in the early game if you save shields before casting. Once you have a few Boost UPs under your belt, the level of item enchantments to start to flow like water...

I think he meant taking enchant on top of the 3 abilities for the standard upgrading combo (boost armor/scavenge/ dazzle). I've done that before but i find skill elixir to be a better choice as it helps you gain a bunch of levels AND helps clear the board of potions to increase your shield chain when you pull off the combo.

Dang it. Just had a great start on a Halfling Raider with Masochism, Double Coin, Treasure Chamber and Skill Elixir. Then stopped paying attention and died really early. All the enchants and skills were coming in the right order. What a waste. :(

Right on. It's like the game has become self-aware and is now addicted to playing/updating itself. Which is crazy.

OK so help me out here guys, I am really not too good at this game, My highest score is like 2700!

Can you guys give me some tips? What I should be focusing on early game to get set up? What skills are a must have? Should I focus on damage or armor?

Thanks for any tips guys! :)

Keep in mind i got better at this game over time and the game has also changed a lot with recent updates... so my later posts are probably more relevant for the current game

    I hope they help!

I generally favor base damage as an early focus-- it stops you from having to rely on swords. After that, I prioritize upgrades which increase xp/gold/up. I usually avoid charisma, since if you last long enough it will become useless-- you are better off just getting the dex/str/etc. stats. Then, once I am strong enough and monsters are dying just to my base damage (without swords), I start leveling my skills up so I can use them more often.

Since you are still pretty new, I'd advise you to get the Teleport skill if you can. It's very useful for keeping alive longer. :)

Interesting. I tend to go for weapon damage and get the base damage upgrades through levels only. I briefly discussed it in previous posts but overall i think weapon damage is more beneficial since I usually am chaining swords with skulls... so as long as I'm doing 2 or more swords it is better than base damage... It is very rare i chain only skulls and that's the only case where i think base damage is better.

Anyone else care to chime in on the weapon vs base damage?

I agree in that I prioritize weapon damage over base damage. If it comes down to it, even poison is more beneficial than base damage since later on, you are unlikely to kill anything with base damage alone, in which case your poison can be doing much more damage.

Well, weapon damage scales better for less, but base damage is easier to come by. I tend to get most of my base damage later, when I have nothing else to do with my levels. I prefer weapon damage in general because almost any skill set allows access to multiple swords for attacks. Of course, with the shield combo, base damage is helpful to avoid using future shields for attacks.

Agree with weapon damage as well. An interesting thing about poison, I usually don't take it often, but the game I'm on now, after taking it a few times (like 8) it's coming up a LOT, like encouraging me to build a super poison build.

Also, the GC leader on hard has an insane score, like 250K. Trounced the old high score that was up for a long time from the pre-maxed life leech and other updates.

It's a shame the high scores don't display the skill set/race/class of that game...I guess OpenFeint isn't really built with that in mind, but I wonder if fireflame has access to that info?

Will you please please PLEASE change it so when I push a special monster with my finger the description doesn't appear directly underneath it. Put it at the bottom of the screen. Grrrrrrrrr.

how does skill elixir determine the amount of XP to collect? By health per potion?

That would be incredibly overpowered, you can get health per potion up to 100 or more.

My guess is that it uses the same XP multiplier as skulls do, i.e., each Skill Elixir potion gives the same XP as killing one ordinary skull (with bonuses not available). So that would max out at 3x.

It could be that each potion is just the equivalent of one base skull but the multiplier doesn't apply.

I also don't think you get bonuses.

Ok got this game a few days ago. I'm playing on Normal and finally got a good run. I'm level 495 with over 100,000 points. My skills are Teleport, Dazzle, Skill Elixir, and Repair. I level so fast now I'm basically invincible. I can kill boss skulls with 3 swords or 3 skulls. It doesn't seem to be getting any harder.

My question is should I just quit the current game and play in Hard mode instead? Or should I keep grinding it out and eventually it will get harder?

It sure sounds like Easy to me. This has come up before. I don't really see how you could get that far ahead of the game on Normal. It's hard to tell since we're all comparing our experiences remotely.

Another possibility is that Skill Elixir is broken/overpowered in some way I don't fully understand.
