Yeah, I unlocked an Orc Barbarian, and I played that on Hard for 3 or 4 short games in the 1000-3000 pt range (at work, so half-a$$ing it, I'll use that as my excuse), but still no other unlocks. Some of the new bosses are viscious. The Brute did me in on one of the games. He "tosses" a skull at you each round that kills that stull, but does that skull's health in damage to you. Some serious damage that way.
Another Question. Does Big Game Hunter count towards getting trophies? I have started using that every round since it causes specials every 15 rounds or so.
I think the number of combined specials to reach the next unlock is set but WHAT is unlocked is TOTALLY random! I've played late betas and now the official commercial release on two different systems and the way the classes and level unlock is totally different each time. I do know ONE trick, however. If you are looking to unlock all of the classes first and foremost, play as the Adventurer (basically playing the game classless with all unlocked skills available but no cool race or class bonuses/penalties) since any trophies found will have to be for new classes since you can never level the Adventurer class. This is also nice since once all classes are unlocked, playing as any given class will then guarantee any unlocks will be further levels in the class you're playing (thus allowing you to direct which races and skills you unlock first).
As far as I know there is no way to do that besides starting a new game and losing the score. I'd recommend taking a screen shot with your score in the stats for personal satisfaction. Or with each upgrade choose the option that downgrades your item, so while the enemies get stronger you get weaker in a way (you will still be upgrading, but loosing things like regen might help) also make smaller matches when you get potions so you have less bonus and get attacked more often.
Thanks for the tip here. I am going to try this, because I have been trying all day to get the Rogue class. Also, thanks for the help with Big Game Hunter. I didn't want to use it if it was not helping me. (It has burned me a few times).
I went ahead and upgraded even though I had an ongoing game. Now the app crashes when I touch continue. So I recommend not upgrading yet to see if they will fix this.
Its quite simple really, exit out of dungeon raid so that you are home screen, then double click the home button so that you can see what apps are running in the background, close dungeon raid(similar to how you would delete an app) and then open dungeon raid again. Voila! You begin on the star menu and can choose a new game. Keep in mind, this doesnt save your score, but thats ok, cuz noone cares about easy scores anyways Oops! This is supposed to be a reply to INCyr's question on how to exit a game
I was wondering if there is plans for an iPad version of this game. More than once I've been caught when I download a new iPhone game only to have the iPad version released months later. I really want to get this game, but want to make sure there is no iPad version in the makings or plans for one in the future because I'll get one and not both. If there will be, I can wait for it.
The iPhone version looks and works great in 2x on the iPad. That's the only way I play. I would appreciate a universal version, but honestly it just wouldn't make very much difference. He could make a whole different game for iPad, with more tiles on screen. But I would want to buy both then, anyway.
Just got the pretzel achievement. I remember when the member here suggested it. I always get happy seeing just how much influence we have on game development on iOS. Great update. Got my Orc barbarian to level 2. Gonna max him out before hitting another class.
I need to figure out how much room it takes to do that pretzel achievement. It seems tough. Also I wish I hadn't died 2 levels away from the level 100 achievement. Oh well, at least I unlocked 3 classes from that game. I think the ranger has the most interesting gameplay change with the addition of arrows. Of course, I have no idea what the classes I haven't unlocked are like.
I know I should search the whole thread but 98 pages are way too many Just a question I guess it has been answered many times: is there a guide with tips or strategies? I can't pass through 2000 pts or so, I think I miss something
The whole scrolls in the store was my idea, and every time I see one I think it is awesome. Also, I had an idea last month to make poison lower the strength of monsters while poisoned, and that is the Elf racial bonus now, and I love it. It works exactly the way I envisioned it. I love that so many ideas from the community have found their way into the game. FF rocks!
I have some detailed strategy posts in this thread. Just search for posts by me, that should narrow it down. The main thing your missing is that since difficulty increases by turn number, you must always make the biggest matches as possible when the going is easy, so that you get more xp, more gold, within a shorter number of turns. Thus, dont match 2 skulls with 1 sword -- match the 8 potions even if you dont need the health. 8 new tiles will drop, many of which will be skulls and coins. You will end up matching more skulls and coins in fewer turns. Do keep in mind that there is a tough set-up stretch, and when playing on hard or harder, I dont always get past a few 1000 points either. When I do get past a few thousand points, I can usually go a long while, and currently have a lvl 47 game in progress that I just started this morning.
If you need help with the pretzel achievement I've taken a photo: http://a.yfrog.com/img612/3043/viajn.jpg Once you've done the achievement it gets way too simple to pull it off. Chain in the pic has 9 overlaps...
Loving the update so far, but I also think that things are unlocked a bit too slow. But oh well. No one has mentioned this yet, but is anyone else experiencing lag spikes whenever they get an achievement? It's REALLY annoying for me whenever I kill a special monster, I get a lag spike of 2 - 4 seconds (had up to 15 seconds when I was jumping in and out of service). Plus, many of the achievements show the achievement bar for each percentage that you get of it. So for example, I kill a special monster -> Bloodlust 1%, kill another, Bloodlust 2%, etc. Can we have it so that it only shows the achievement when you COMPLETE it? You can easily see the progress of it in the Achievements board on Open Feint. That's how most other games do it. This is the first time I've seen percentage by percentage displays of the achievements. I also encountered a bug. I was matching shields and somehow I was able to match skulls and swords along the chain. I have a screenshot below. I couldn't match that skull from any other angle, and I haven't noticed this bug again since.
First off, Id just like to say that this is one of the best updates ive ever seen for a game, its breathed whole new life into the game and will most likely be the cause of many more wasted hours of life. Second off, i would just like to echo the request of adding a small guide of some sorts, and maybe even a general strategy guide for early gameplay to help out newcomers. The tutorial already in the game is pretty nice, and i like the style, but a small guide would be a nice complement to it. Thirdly off, i agree with a comment made earlier that some of the skills are pretty garbo, a general overhaul of the skill system isnt needed or anything, but a few minor tweaks here and there to different skills would help to balance it. Lastly I would suggest adding an IAP costing $1 that automatically unlocks all classes and a $5 IAP that gets every class maxed to level 9. I suggest this because theres definitely lots of people who would be interested in paying 1 mesely dollar to unlock all classes and to dive into the game right away, and theres at least a couple desperate bastards that would shell out that ridiculous five > This wouldnt really improve the game or anything, but it would get you some extra cash. Also Id like it if there were even more achievements. I know thres already 75, but most are based on unlocking classes and maxing them out, id like more achievements like the pretzel one or the piece of cake one, those added a fun extra layer of gameplay when i was trying to get them. Suggestion: Sword? What Sword? - Kill a special monster using only your base attack(or maybe make it 20 normal monsters in one game session, or maybe have both) Anyways i hope these suggestions are helpful in any way and that you think of them when continuing to add to dungeon raid in the future!
