No, the repair statistic definitely doesn't increase the upgrades you get! I know that for sure. I've gotten my repair up to 80 or so, I'm definitely not filling up the upgrade bar 80 times as fast!
Yeah, just waiting on Apple to review it, if anything changes I'll let you guys know. The stats screen shows the 5 major stats and their 2 effects, e.g. Vitality affects max health and chance of bonus potion. A lot of people have suggested adding a more in-depth glossary somewhere in the game, though, which is something I'm still keen to do. They don't in this context, if you have 8 repair (i.e. 8 armour per shield) and collect 3 shields, the first shield will repair your armour up to 8/12, the second will repair your armour to 12/12 and the third will be added to your upgrade bar. Fractional shields do count towards your upgrade bar, though, so if you have +0.5 UP and collect 3 shields then another 3 shields next turn you'll get the same number of upgrade points as if you'd collected all 6 in one turn (not counting bonuses). Not quite, DEX & Repair only makes your shields worth more as far as refilling the armour value, not the upgrade bar. And +UP only makes shields worth more as far as filling the upgrade bar, not repairing armour You should be able to unlock faster by playing a longer game, and probably at a higher difficulty. As I mentioned before, unlocks come up after you've killed a certain number of special monsters, and these come out more frequently the longer you play and the higher the difficulty. So if you play 60 games where you only kill 1 special monster, that's equivalent to playing one game where you kill 60 special monsters, and the latter will probably take much less time
I have a question. I have been playing a game on Normal for a while and I have gotten to the point where no matter what I do, I am essentially not taking any damage. I level up every turn or two, and I can see this game going on forever. All of my stats are pretty maxed out, and the skulls are not getting much stronger. My question is, have I sort of "beaten" Normal mode and I should just kill this game and restart in a harder mode, or will the difficulty ramp up soon? I don't really care about leader boards (except my own) so I don't want to keep playing this game just to get a high score, but I wouldn't mind playing it to a conclusion if one is eventually coming. Any thoughts? By the way, I would love to see Dungeon Raid start to keep track of statistics. I would be curious to track how much time I spend playing. I bet its a lot.
The skull growth curve will eventually catch up with you. I believe at Normal, it's won't go on forever. What I am curious is if it's possible to be permanently ahead of the curve on Easy?
I think you are guaranteed to die eventually, because (I think) the skulls start getting stronger at an exponential rate, and your skills only increase linearly with time. So eventually you will reach a crossover point. However, it could be a long time from where you are now. Look at http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=1630925&postcount=817 for how far I got on Normal, my score is more than three times yours. I played over 1300 turns, but there's no display that shows how many turns you've played, until the game ends, so I don't know how that compares to where you are now.
NEW CLASS PREVIEW! Rogue: It's all about the money. Perk: +10% chance for bonus coins when clearing 3+ tiles. Flaw: 3% chance each shield added to the grid will show up broken (useless but linkable to other shields). Unique Skill: Greed (25): All normal skulls adjacent to a coin are instantly killed. Default Race: Sauren: Double the chance of a scroll being attached to an item in the shop. Mortal Enemy: Thief: Steals 2 coins from grid or, if out of coins on the grid it steals coins from the player's supply (and as a mortal enemy, when it steals from your personal supply you'll also suffer 2x it's attack value in damage). I love the Sauren race's effect but have to admit I'm at a loss as to why they're more likely to get scrolls...is it because everybody knows dinosaurs are magical, look no further than Barney?
On normal I got to level 600 before I let myself die. I had 135% life leech and did a lot of damage. So I think I could have kept going. Every single move I made got me multiple levels, upgrades or shop purchases. Was starting to get annoying with no challenge.
I thought the unique skills would be better. I don't think I've seen one yet that I would actually take, over the tried-and-true choices that already exist. I know balancing skills in a game like this is very hard. But I would still like to see more. Maybe the problem is not that the new skills are too weak, but some of the existing skills are too strong. Why would I take Greed when I can Teleport, with a faster cooldown, and get rid of all skulls, not just normal ones?
That sounds like you're talking about the game before the cap on multipliers, and other changes. Before that, I think you could probably play forever, or at least much longer than anyone would have the patience to play. But I don't think that's true in the current game.
Yeah, have to give credit to FireFlame here that whenever truly exploitable loopholes were brought up here he's managed to, for the most part, plug them up (with the exception of Easy which he has intentionally left as something a skilled player could keep going indefinitely if they so desired).
I'd say if you don't care about the score, end the game and move up a difficulty to where it's still fun and challenging for you The difficulty curve will catch up with you eventually but it might not be for a while yet, so your time might be better spent holding on for dear life on harder
sweet! I've been checking this thread daily for a week waiting to see that it's been approved. Here's to countless more hours lost raiding the dungeons. Thanks fireflame!
I'm confused. Weren't you supposed to see the effect of matching shields or potions etc before you lift your finger? Also, the text that explains what the class is about is a bit of a mess and difficult to read.
Updated and NO in-game explanation about the new classes or how to unlock them... at all. Just a bunch of locked icons and the same gameplay. Tried to continue my existing game I've had going for a long time, crash. Tried again, crash, etc. Apparently my game was lost in translation. Epic Fail.
Just received the update but I'm in the middle of a huge highscore so I can't play it yet. Thanks for the addiction fireflame, I've never played a game so many times for a score in my life. Also after a while it gets hard to read through the upgrades and compare them, maybe green addition signs and red negatives for a quicker comparison? Also you know we crave achievements=)
Yeah, have a look at the gold/health/xp/up bars as you trace. The text looks ok on my phone, can you post a pic? Sorry about the savegame corruption, it's always very difficult to test whether a savegame will survive an update and it looks like it hasn't this time How to unlock classes is mentioned on most of the pages in the class edit screen (kill special monsters) and you start out with no classes unlocked, so yep there's no explanation of them all, just the lock icons for each one you've yet to unlock. Also, even after you unlock them all the gameplay will still be very much the same as it's always been - I'll be adding different game modes in a later update Yep, both of these are in the new update - up/downgrades are highlighted green/red and there's 75 achievements to collect
