Ummm.... Really u deleted this insane game because it had no music you can listen to your own anyways
I think my wife is mad at me because of Dungeon Raid overload, but still I can't stop... by the way, it's hard to type and play Dungeon Raid at the same time but can be done.
I can't say that I agree. The graphics aren't bad at all. They're functional (which is very important in a game like this), easy-to-see and diferentiate, and stylistically consistent. I really think the simple, iconic graphics contribute to the rogue-like experience. Of course, I'm also one of those people who prefers to play Nethack with ASCII 'graphics'. I'd rather see simple graphics like what's present now than a bunch of fancy-schmancy animated graphics that end up getting in the way when it's time to make changes or upgrades - which is exactly what happened with '100 Rogues'. They've had to delay updates on that game because it takes a long time to create new visual assets. New visual assets for DR are a snap as things stand now... Just my two cents... Spoinlar
I third this post. The game creator should do what he wants with the visuals, but I feel the art direction in the game right now was a very intentional choice and it ironically lends the game a lot of character precisely because the icons are so universal and generic in their fantasy motif, and the story is a satire on ad-lib RPG plots. Love this game to death. Current score barrier is 29k on Normal. Had a good run just now and died around 22k due to one wrong move. I've also challenged my friends to a contest, where the first person to beat my score by the end of Feb. gets $100 bucks. Incentive for me to keep playing and get better, and it got them all to buy the game.
I think the graphics are spot on. The only thing I would suggest graphically is related to the numbers that appear to indicate how much damage you took, how much health you lost, etc, seem to be moving constantly and they disappear so quickly that I can never see what it says. I'd like it if the numbers stayed on screen a bit longer.
Well I found the lack of any music a little annoying too, but i guess i figured a good solution for myself. I just downloaded the music for 100 rogues from the official site(thanks Keith ): http://dinofarmgames.bandcamp.com/ and created a playlist and play it when i play this. The music suits perfectly, thanks to the rogue-like origins. Try it and tell me how you find it.
Would be nice if there were a way to offset your touch point a little, sometimes especially with long chains it can be hard to see where you have the line drawn and have to peek under your own finger to see it. If the offset were able to be set by the player it could be put in a comfortable position not obscured by your own finger. Cheers
I bought it on sale and it's pretty fun, but not as fun as I'd hoped. I mean, I'm enjoying it, but I see burnout right around the corner. I had the same issue with Sword & Poker.
It isn't for everyone and really seems to center more on "playing the system" than unveiling any sort of epic adventure. This, at least to me, is a game that really encourages discussion, as you see here, where players' swap their best and often pretty divergent strategies for big scores. While there is a lot of luck (getting offered the right skills and upgrades early on and or having the needed icon types handy right when you really need them), you'll find the more you play the better you tend to do overall as you learn to sort of "ride the wave" and get a better idea of which skills/items/upgrades suit you best at that moment.
Does anyone know if the dev is planning on adding achievements through Game Centre? If you ask me, that would just be the icing on top of a particularly good cake!
Originally i refused to buy the game since it was an endless mode type deal, and cause the puzzle screen was all you saw. But i couldnt resist giving it a chance for a dollar, now im glad i did and im lovin it. I know this has been asked somewhere in this huge thread, but where can i find some strategies to use in the game?
I've collected some of the strategies in this thread and posted some of them right here in my blog: http://iphonedevpinoy.blogspot.com/2011/02/dungeon-raid-strategies-tips-and-tricks.html credit goes to clarsonx, ArtNJ and anthem47
So far, this thread itself is the best source for strategies I've found... I ended up reading it from start to finish, and it improved my game quite a lot. It's a LOT of reading, though...
Perhaps one of our strategy experts should recap their best strategies again now with the latest update so we don't have to go fishing through the whole thread for them? Like which are the ideal skill combos? Which are the most useful upgrades? Who are the scariest specials at this time?
