The new update rocks! The enemy special abilities really add more variety and dimension.

Went ahead and upgraded to deluxe...this is my current favourite IOS game.

I played almost a full level since the update. Looking pretty good.

I like the enemy statuses, they keep things interesting. Also good is not being able to "hold" the useless symbols on the reels.

  4. Thanks for the good words guys, glad you're enjoying it. Heads up though: some of them are nasty and require a different playing style to overcome. :)

If you can take a minute to update your reviews when you're done playing I'd really appreciate it as they get reset at every update.

Should submit 1.16 within an hour or so - I'll be back with the update notes shortly.

HAHA! The new creature abilities are really good. They add a whole new level of strategy (and PANIC!). I was around level 7 on my mage after updating and wasn't really paying attention, I went for the killing blow vs. a cobra and it did over 30 damage due to it's incremental poison. Dead adventurer! But wow, was that a good lesson learned.

You really have to adjust your strategy vs. each creature now. For example, vs. snakes (poison ability), you need to make sure you hit the hearts to cure it every few turns. Against hard hitting orcs with their frenzy, damage abilities, you need to stock up on shields, still learning. . .

    Great update!

Paralyze and fear are making for some interesting engagements....especially when they happen multiple times in a row. Everything still feels pretty balanced to me though.

Love the new abilities, my recently deceased warrior might think differently, but it definitely shakes up the sameness of the fights.

I was already impressed with this game enough that I gifted it last night to an old friend, and now it's even better :D

  8. Thank you!

Yeah I'm fairly confident on the balance of it all having done pretty thorough testing. You can get some mean streaks still but I put the percentage at a proper level I think. Can get pretty nasty later on with the higher levels but I'm fine with that :D

So far the feedback in emails is very positive although some were caught off guard obviously if they were high levels and haven't seen them in action on lower level foes.

Nice of you and thanks for the support!

  9. Allright 1.16 has been submitted to Apple! Here's what's to expect:

Should be live next monday or so.

1.17 will be fairly light on new features  and more of a transitional update toward the 2 new classes of 1.18 which are not a single week thing (keep in mind I don't do this full time).

More on it later this week.

There's also still time to vote for one of the ranger's pet. So far the Dire Wolf has a comfortable lead.. upcoming season 3 of Game of Thrones effect?

This game was hard enough.. And now the warrior is weakened and enemies have skills?

I tried Davies strategy of focusing on shields and it totally didn't work... All it comes down to is luck with the shields I had a lvl 12 warrior going then I died twice in a row in like 5 minutes knocked down to lvl 9, now my artifacts are gone there's no more runes... (Can't even tell what they're doing anyway) I have like no money now...

I think I'm done with this game... If only 1 person can beat this game there's something wrong with it. if all it comes down to is getting shields or your dead its not worth playing..sorry

The shield strategy works. I started using it around the time It was mentioned here, but while Davies pushed through and devoted 10+ hours to hit the end game, I spent my time between different games.

It is very hard to actually die when you use the shield strategy, but it is very boring as it takes significantly longer to kill each enemy.

The way I used the shield strategy was to set a lower limit like 70hp where I would focus exclusively on matching shields, and and spam it until I reached above 100hp where I would match coins instead.

With two life scrolls, and keeping an eye out for the low hp indicator, I didn't did, but it got very boring so deleted...

Also another possibility is that Davies was probably on the old double axe build when he beat the game, whereas you are now on the single axe build, which takes a long time to kill enemies, which theoretically gives them a higher chance of killing you, if you aren't following your winning strategy strictly.

I maxed out shield at level 9... Died like 4 or 5 battles later simply because no shields came up... I dunno but by having the battle take forever with doing such little attack maybe can work against you mking battles longer means you have to keep getting shields longer... I dunno whatever I gues you need a phd in math to play this game :/

Were you perchance matching coins when that happened? I noticed that the more I matched coins, the less shields turned up. To get them back, I usually have to not match anything for a round or two before a shield will turn up.

Not match meaning not holding any of the icons and just pulling the slot machine lever...

Ditto! I take back any comments about 2D baddies as now they all really feel distinguished from one another! :D

Terrific update. It adds a lot more variation to the game. Re-reviewed as well.

Not really, I kept every shield I had I just couldn't get 2 up or whatever before I died..

I was waiting for the update because I thought It would be easier, maybe he changed it so shields aren't the best...I dunno I just died way to easily

I agree 100% that the shield strategy was very boring since creatures took forever to kill but it was effective with a warrior pre 1.15. That's why I did adjustments to put diminishing returns on the skill and tweaked mobs accordingly: Lower damage, lower hit points.

If you go full out shield now it will not be nearly as effective since many points will be wasted in the diminishing return. You need to adjust your gameplay and skill points allotment. Give it a shot and let me know.

That's precisely what happened. Try to spread your points a bit more and don't go blindly for shields: If you have a solid offense don't let axes fly by hoping for shields. It's still a good idea to invest in the cooldowns reductions.

There's also the factor that many creatures require an adjustment in play style - take a look at abilities before the fight.

That being said I may upgrade warriors inner defense efficiency if people are struggling badly at it since it wasn't my intention to make the game harder. It should be easier to play without a full out shield strategy. I'll keep a close eye on how things unfolds.

Love the game so far. A few things. This was pre-update, but my rouge strategy was just to get as much poison as possible which ends up adding to your shields when your opponent is stunned and then farm coins. I am just level 7, but it has been a cakewalk so far (again, pre-update). Though, you increased the proc chance for poison, so, it might be easier.

I just got killed by a cobra. At first, I didn't understand the mechanic of 2 hearts sets it to zero (which was really just my stupidity). So, can you add another page onto the in battle help screen, after an explanation of your abilities, to show the enemy's abilities you are facing? Maybe slightly more indepth to remove the vagueness.

Also, any chance to have the cobra's poison reset after an initial poison? My shield went, got hit with 35 poison...yeah my fault...but then no hearts and now 38 poison and then 41 and death.

May I even suggest a new mechanic?

How about the cobra's (or any other poison monster) damage is always their level. But, the probability of them poisoning you go up each round on ANY attack by 15%. So, if I am facing a level 5 cobra. He has a 15% to poison me the first round, then 30 the second and 45% the third. Once I am poisoned, the % resets to 0 and starts going up again. I then take 5 (which is their level) damage each round until I get 2 hearts. Or maybe even 2 hearts cuts the damage in half until you get 2 hearts again, and 3 or more cures it. That way, the poison can actually kill me behind my shield and shields have no effect on it. I can try to ignore the poison if the match is almost over, but if it goes too long, my hp keep on dwindling.

I am still low level, and I am not sure if you implemented this...but maybe have a mechanic where armored warriors shrug off a base amount of damage. That way, instead of slowly waiting til they die, you may not really be doing any damage to them at all. Of course, they don't hit very hard either.

One more thing. Can you make it so we can determine when to use our mana surge? I guess that dynamic makes it a lot like berserk, but the problem arises that you cannot attack if you want to maintain a big mana percent for vortex.

Maybe make it so that if you are over 50%, you will always do a surge (but lower the damage to 1.5 times. And then make more things use mana. Time warp costs 25% mana. Force Field costs 35% mana, or something like that. So, if you are over 50% mana, your attacks are stronger, but once you use a skill, your attacks are weaker, but you used the skill. An interesting tradeoff.
