Although I think it would be difficult to balance, the biggest addition would be more variation among the enemies. Basically now they are all the same, I fight every enemy exactly the same way. It would be interesting to have enemies that you have to react to (e.g., enemy that poisons you and you need to match potions to cure yourself or you keep losing HP every turn; enemy that sometimes becomes invulnerable for a round so there's no point in matching attack symbols that round; enemy that drains HP from you when it hits you; enemy with a piercing attack so that a certain percentage of damage goes through your armor regardless of how much you have; enemy that can steal your gold; enemy that regenerates a fixed number of HP every turn; enemy that is invulnerable unless you match three attack symbols, not just two; enemy with armor so that only damage in a given turn over a certain amount actually penetrates; enemy with dodge so that a certain percentage of attacks randomly miss; enemy with magic spell that recharges every N rounds and does damage or heals the enemy or reduces your armor or other possible effects; etc.).
If you've reached level L in the past with a given character type, then if you start a new game with that character type then you have the option of starting at level (L minus 3). You get all of the skill points that you would have accumulated in reaching that level, to allocate however you want, and you get a selection of starting equipment appropriate for that level in the game. You start at that level in the overland world and the previous levels are depopulated (except for a bug(?) involving previous bosses at levels 5, 10, 15).
This will definitely happen - I will introduce such abilities over time and might freely borrow from your ideas. Maybe some even in 1.15 depending on how soon I get 1.14 approval. I'll take it slowly though to be careful with the whole balancing of it but it's totally doable I think. I'd like each opponent to be unique at some point, not too far away, particularly starting at level 5+. That might explain all those hacked 10$ tips from China Seriously though thank you, pretty special to get these anonymously without anything in return. That's SO making my day! Already updated the app description with it Fun fact: Review deplores the lack of included female avatar. I was very close to have switched the female alternate mage to be the default mage right before launch but was wary this would have been seen as trying to force people toward IAP to get their male mage.
Aye great review for you there congrats. I was wondering that myself though, I'm a guy so I'm not fussed but maybe you should have a free male and female avatar for each class? Still can't decide who I like best, I'll get loads of time playing this week. So far I've done warrior to 10 and doing Rouge now, I'll try Mage next. Just a comment on skills, I know you can see them scrolling through pages on what the skills do, but could you also add in a description of what it does by holding in the specific skill button? But then pressing it triggers it still.
I threw in my vote for game of the week in the poll. Dungeon Plunder is in first place so far! I'd like to see a bestiary added to the game at some point. It's always nice to get a bit of background/flavor information on a beast. I think it's neat when you get a small bonus vs. a creature after you've received a bestiary entry (for example, kill 20 giant snakes, unlock the bestiary entry, characters gain +1 damage on first round of battle against future giant snakes, etc.)
Having an absolute blast with this one... Kudos to the dev! One of the better roguelikes out there for sure.
Cant buy the iap! When I try to do it it says its loading and after 15 seconds or so it says "Requested timed out" and to try again later. Ive been trying to buy it for a couple hours and have gotten the same result.
Thanks for the vote! Bestiary could be interesting to review the upcoming special abilities and such ahead of time. Might be more suitable however on an online wiki platform that could be reviewed both from the app and outside of it. Thanks, and same on your game. Played for 3 hours non stop before release - now I can't play anymore Pinching myself to see if it's a dream or not. Let's hope it gives a second breath sales wise. Thanks for the support! Now that's not the kind of problem I want to read I'd suggest closing off the application or maybe rebooting the device to see if it helps?
Closing the app from the Task bar worked like a charm, now proud owner of the deluxe version, really diggin' this one. Again congrats for an excellent job.
I have a problem I think, on my minor runes when having a choice of which to pick it shows ones that I have and those that I don't. For eg it says I have the artifact rune, yet when I pick whatever new one I want and it goes to the page where it just shows which runes you have it doesn't say I have the artifact rune? Yet I can't pick it as it says I have it and I'm very sure I chosen it.
You probably have a different class of that rune for instance if you have the intermediate artifacts rune, then you can't also have the minor artifacts rune since they don't stack. Unfortunately you will just start piling up unusable extra runes. It would be nice if there was some other use for them. I'm ion early not a big fan of the conversion idea (you will just run out of possible runes even faster and it will take away from the sense of accomplishment when you earn a higher rune).
Conversion will not happen - I want these higher runes to feel special. 1.15 will no longer display those excess runes. In future games if you'd be granted a maxed out rune the game will give you a small extra gold amount instead (10% per rune level) in your inheritance stash.
TA's review (and I think some posts in this thread) mentioned that the highest level you achieve for a class will be the starting level for that class the next game you start. I might be misunderstanding this, but when I reach Level 5 for the Warrior then die, I always start back at Level 1. Are there different levels than just the ones you get through accruing exp and/or what am I missing? Thanks in advance for any info.
You're supposed to start 3 levels below your highest level, not sure why you're going from 5 to 1 tho, I think it should be 5 to 2 unless this function is only applies to higher levels than 5... It's just the levels you gain from XP.
No, my Rogue keeps starting at 2 because I can't seem to get past 5 with that class. Though I haven't actually used any resurrection scrolls yet since I keep dying without realizing I'm about to. So it does work, for me anyway.
