This looks just amazing - by far the best hack-n-slash yet for iDevices.

So glad it has touch movement as an option, and not just the d-pad!!

Right, and as long as developers continue to release a game at $5.99, and drop the price 24 hours later to $2.99, and days days later to .99, folks are going to continue to wait.

Developers are screwing themselves with unstable pricing models.

those are the Indie devs who overprice their apps in the firstplace

    Gameloft never does that

I wish this game had red blood instead of green. Maybe it's just the primal intendencies in me.

Devs do that when their sales collapse, due to the unreasonable price expectations set in the first place.

How many time here at Toucharcade do you see people talking about "damn, $2.99 is too much, I'll wait a couple months for it to drop to 99 cents" as if you couldn't spare the extra $2 between date of release and a couple months after?

+1. Just saw a post on the Dexter thread from someone who expects to get 50 hours + of entertainment for his $5.99 investment, and then has the gall to say that "he's not cheap." I was immediately reminded of the fact that I just paid $100+ for me and my wife to go to the Pixies concert in Boston. Heck, I spent $50 to get Modern Warfare just to play the single player campaign -- which took me about 8 hours. Obviously, you don't want a game to be so short that it comes to an end just as you are getting into it, but to expect weeks of play from a $6.99 game strikes me as a little silly (not to mention disrepectful of the effort involved in developing something like Dungeon Hunter.

It gets old, having to see that stuff. It is the nature of the beast, though. If you participate, as a developer, in a store without a premium price incentive, you'll see a lot of quality games drop to 99¢ quickly. This causes people to question why other games cost more.

If Apple would base their Top 25 list on revenue rather than bulk sales, I think that would take care of part of the problem. Unfortunately, it seems like they're using the cheap game prices as a selling point for their game console, so they have no incentive to raise the average price of apps.

The moment developers indie or otherwise start pushing the premium price points, the viability of the iPhone/iPod Touch as a gaming platform will end. In all respect the highest we should be expected to pay for a game app is $10, these devices were not made for gaming, but for other multimedia purposes.

The market for games on this platform cannot bare the standard market prices of videogames. And once the PSP Go is released the iPhone/iPod Touch will have to compete with playstation Minis (Cheap affordable small apps for the PSP).

And no Sandstorm is not worth more than $7. If you really want apps to be worth more than $10. Then not only do you need gameplay in the range of 20 - 40 hours at least, but also dedicated multiplayer support from the start. No oh well add it later bullshit...

Thats new then! It didn't work that way until very recently, they must have changed it in iTunes 9's new store.

It still works the old way on the iPhone itself, though.

    You can't be serious...

You expect way too much from a $10 game. Do you play console games by any chance? I can't name that many games that even offers close to 40 hours of gameplay (a lot of console games can't even rack up a 20 hour game!), and thats at a price of $60. Some of the best console games (Mass Effect, etc) don't even offer multiplayer.

Sorry, but if you were serious, I would have to say that is one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

I have played more than 40 hours to some Ipod Touch games and I have other consoles big and portables. But I agree the 10$ price limit is ok these days here. Waiting for Dungeon Hunter with passion. I hope is that similar to Diablo like Hodapp said
