Yeah, I won't be using energy for anything but that event for the next 4.5 days

The gems you get from this event will give you at least one free pull, combined with the gems you already have.

The event itself, assuming you put all of your stamina there, will give you 1-2 pieces of equipment, depend on how dedicated you are.

Today I just got an offer, 99 cents for 1 pull, I didn't take it, trying to stay true to the zero dollar religion.

But in any case, that is 3-4 pieces of 3 star gear that can be upgraded to 4-5 stars, for 99 cents total, one week into release. And I already spent 30 gems for 30 slots. I am sure events like this will be bi-weekly or even weekly. If you are wearing max 3 star gear (can be upgraded from 1 star) you should have no problem getting materials for 4-star.

A little patience goes a long way, even zero dollar players will be wearing full 5-star gear, 3 months from now if you play every day. Just grab a staff or crossbow and mooch off your rich friends and have them tank hard contents for you until then. Obviously never ever ever ever spend gems to refresh stamina or revive as a zero dollar player, it is the golden rule in every freemium game.

Discovered regular obtained gear cant go over 3 stars. Was bummed since I had a pretty neat set of crossbow and chest that I was hoping to level with.
I decided, what the heck, and opened $100 worth of chests: one 4 star staff, rest is 3 star duplicates of same crappy chest armor with horrible stats and double swords. Horrible payoff for $100.
I wish theyd let you spend gems and upgrade your regular obtained 3 star gear.

Wow. Thanks for the data. I got the .99 for 50 offer like hitmantb and decided what the heck. Got a 3* piece of armor with attributes that I like much less than my current maxed 3*. Meh.

So the event is pretty nice. Although it's hard to decide to i waste energy doing the gear event? or get my materials to evolve my 3* to 4*. Decisions decisions.

You dropped 100$ and got one 4*? Jeez. I haven't been able to do the math but if you waste all energy daily once refreshed on the loot event will you be able to snag the gear?

    Great question.

In many freemium games it is actually worthwhile to:

    1) Level up as fast as you can
    2) Spend all of your gems on stamina refreshes with a bigger pool of stamina, instead of lottery chests
    3) Aim for specific gear from specific events

I may do this if I am short a few points for this event's gear. Still hoping someone will show us the stats of the two gears first however.

hum.. i was enjoying this game immensely until today morning, when i too found out that my 3 star crossbow and chest cannot be evolved further. Good thing too, as i was going to buy 10$ of gems as thanks and support to gameloft for such a good, unrestrictive game - until i discovered the restriction.

The thing is, if with the IAPs i could choose what i could buy (ie, weapons and armors that can be evolved indefinitely), i would have spent the money.

But to spend money to get something i may or may not want, with an element that might or might not be good in the next events/ missions, it seems wasteful to me.

Instead, on the way home i gave 20 more bucks and finally bought Diablo3 and RoS, since i can play both only at home with wifi, and one seems vastly more expensive...

Why oh why spend $100 on this? That's just crazy money... It's no wonder this is the model GL use.

Anyway, would love the 50 gems for a buck offer...

I spent 50$ and it's absolutely not a big deal, at least not to adults who has a job, maybe it is for students or underaged people however.

Although sad to see he got so unlucky, with my 50$ worth of boxes I've gotten three 4 star items, two weapons of different elements and one armor

I am also a working adult, with kids and a mortgage. and in my opinion dropping $100 on consumables in a FTP game is crazy. You can get a full blown console game for less than that that will give hours of entertainment, for that one of price. What did you get for 100 bucks, 20 chests full of stuff he didn't really want, that effectively is now 'gone'

At the end of the day it's your money and you can do with it as you wish, but I just can't ever imagine spending that much on a FTP game. I will maybe spend $5-10 on a game if I think it's worthwhile, but most of the time I will pay for free.

Also it just shows why GL and others make these types of games. You two alone have accounted for 30 sales of a $5 game. And you will not be alone. With a premium $5 game with no IAP, there is only the initial sales, with FTP you will have individuals continuously pumping money into it that pay for the rest of us to be free users.

Anyway, people spend money in different ways, and we could spend hours debating it, so let's get back to the game :)

I don't usually "gamble" on freemium games. Mainly I pay when I know what Im getting, for example, I buy premium tanks in World of Tanks Blitz, because I know exactly what Im buying, I really like the developer and want the game to be successful. I decided to experiment with DH5 too, but the gamble wasn't worth this time.
As far as spending $100, I generally spend $70-$200 a week for when I go out on weekends. This week I was stuck working so might as well have some "fun" lol.

Good Lord is there a difference between hard and expert, at least in the week-long special. I can finish hard without looking (non max 3* armor, staff and belt- no water items) but I don't stand a chance in expert. That was a quick 30 down the drain but I had to know!

You can always find a rich friend who can *almost* solo the boss by himself. I have had helpers with 1.5-2x of my stats, but of course they don't typically accept my friend request.

Key is to max out your friends list (reserve 1-2 spots for other player's invites), then weed out the weak players who don't login and build a portfolio of strong active helpers over time. I got like half a dozen potions from 10 ticket chests alone.

Anyone know of a reliable way to refresh the helper list? It is very weird sometimes the entire list of players are weaker than me, sometimes the entire list is stronger than me. I was expecting a mix.

    Surprise!
The first available armor and weapon from the event is capped out at 3* without being able to get upgraded any further.

Do you have a screen grab of them? Is it just +fire damage and +weapon type damage? Not doubting you but looks like the best reward from this event is the free gems which leads to a free roll in premium chest for something that CAN be upgraded to 5-stars.

Also the 55000 reward someone said it starts at 3-stars as well and must be upgraded to 5 stars.

Oh well, I guess you can not give out end game gear too easily first week of launch.

Nekku is right. Wow, that's a BIG disappointment for the free players.

I just got the armor myself at 13k points, and it's 3 star and can't be evolved further.

Yep. It's greyed out in the evolve screen and says that it's already at its maximum level if you try to evolve it. It has slightly higher stats as my actual gear but yeah, that's it. Well, now I'm broke (in-game ofc, not in reality) and still have shit gear.

At this point, I cant think of any way to get 4* gear without spending money or free gems, which are very limited. You wont be able to compete in those events for a damn long time as non iap player until you'll be able to get the best gear from the event.
