I felt regret, after deleting DH4 to install DH5 and played fır 3 hours. time to go back to DH4 again...
When it says defenses, that means that your base has done its job and destroyed the artacker. So it only shows if your base does good, not if it does bad. But you can see others win/losses when you attack them, that is odd.
More impressions after a few more hours last night. 1) Absolutely positively love the puzzles and dragons gear system, the fact your starting 1 star sword can be powered up and evolved over and over creates a strong sense of attachment for the player. Since Diablo games are all about getting lucky with the perfect mix of magical attributes, my 1 star glaive with 13 health per kill now evolved to 2 star with 21 health per kill is still super competitive. Assuming everything can be 5-stared, players will have endless fun mixing and matching the perfect attributes for their weapons in late game. If you have a super powerful sword but your best armor is +20% bow damage, what do you do? Choices and decisions are the best part of Diablo games and DH5 is far far far far superior to DH4 in this regard. 2) The stronghold raiding is awesome. You can only rob what they are mining. I love the way they copied the league system from COC but of course, dumbed down base design. Ran into players with 3-star minions and it is really really tough. 3) The potion system, I liked DH4's regeneration system a lot more. If I have to wait for 8 hours to get 3 full potions, it is not a problem at all and much much much better than if I have to farm 3 potions before I can take on hardest challenges. REDUCE the repetition is key to sustain player interest. 4) My main complaint is there is no good screen to look at stats of your items. On the sell screen I expect to be able to click and item and view its attribute. Instead I have to go back to the equipment screen to check it out. Also I can't find a single screen that shows me how much a specific minion can bring in per hour. I thought it is based on attack/defense alone but I got an archer minion that gets back far more gold per hour than a higher level zombie minion with more stats. 5) Skills, I can't tell if they are based on character damage or it is based on its own damage. I got the fire hammer skill and I honestly can't tell if I would do more damage just mashing standard attack button or if I casted it. The only good skill I saw was the multi-slash thing another player had in a dungeon. I just hope skills become a much much bigger part of combat. Please please please make skills based on % of character damage. I should be doing significantly more damage with skills than regular attacks! Suggestions: 1) Implement sweep feature to sweep the dungeons I already beat! To farm a skill I went through a stage 8 times x 5 minutes, that is 40 minutes of boredom and there is no way I would spend gems to buy stamina just so I can do it again. Look at the #1 grossing role playing game, Heroes Charge, if you are not valuing your player's time, you are not going to be successful. You want to give whales ability to spend hundreds of stamina in a few minutes. 2) Inventory system as I mentioned above, when I sell things I expect to look at the full attribute of each item, this is basic stuff and I pressed everywhere on the screen and could not find it. Going back to equipment screen and check weapon, armor slot individually then come back to the sell screen to sell is absolutely tedious. 3) I haven't got far enough into the game to say whether there are unique items/minions. Diablo has random attribute items, but it also has unique items like buriza do kyanon which people would spend countless hours to farm for. I highly recommend taking a page out of Heroes Charge's play book and have gear fragments. You see if a super item has say a 5% chance to drop, they spread it out into 50 fragments and every time you clear a dungeon you get 1-5 fragments. In the end it may take the same number of trips to get, but players get a sense of progression instead "OMG I just wasted another hour for nothing". 4) Greatly increase the maximum amount gold a strong hold can keep, right now I can hit my max in just 4 hours. You got the idea from COC, so don't change what works for them! At least 12 hours. If players feel it is too much trouble to constantly login to collect their stuff, they will leave. In COC if a player feels burned out they can play it farmville style, comes back every day or two to collect and upgrade the base. 5) Daily login bonus, shower your player with gifts no matter how small! Come on DH4 had this! Update on App Store Ranking: http://www.appannie.com/apps/ios/app/885823239/app-ranking/#device=iphone&daily=2015-03-13&type=grossing-ranks Went from top 240 grossing to top 268 grossing on American app store. Seems to be doing much better in South Korea at 41 and China at 104 (much bigger spending region on IAP). As I mentioned before, hack and slash is still successful in Asia, it is dead in western world. I sincerely hope Gameloft take a look at the top 10 grossing China/Korea games and add the features players of these regions expect (dungeon sweep and gear fragment is a must if you want whales to buy stamina, they are not going to spend time to grind the same dungeon 100 times). Gameloft can turn around their penny stock status with success in Asia alone.
I just got the 5 star fusion item from daily event (hardest mode) and holy shit, it gives 75k exp! REALLY strong for upgrading gear. My armor went from level 32 to 43 in one upgrade
I like the game a lot but I wish they would change it back to DH2. In this game it seems as in instead of a dungeon you are just dropped into an arena that you have to clear. In DH2 you could explore the open world and fight monsters on your way to your objective and missions. And the dungeons were actually dungeons not arenas. Also, why do you have to have potions? They need to take away how hard it is to heal your player and add regeneration. Potions could still be used when fighting hard opponents for an instant heal.
What level are you? Because I have a hard time doing the dailies with 900 attack. I'm level 17 and can't complete the dailies. I need to start doing them for evo materials to fuse my 3* into 4*s.
Ive got to admit i was really really worried about the whole strongholds feature, but now that ive played it i love it! Was really worried about people stealing my loot, but they can only steal what i have stored in my SH. And it gives the game a whole secondary objective. Loving it!
No there is no real multiplayer. You can only take in a random player or someone off of your friend list who is then handled by the dumb KI to fight on your side. Maybe it is planned to add mp later on but as of yet, nope.
Ouch. So far I'm not sure what to make of the game. But I definitely feel limited when playing. And no true multiplayer definitely makes that worse.
All of the above are covered by "click and hold" --------------- Some tips for anyone who is trying to play without spending real money: - Once you can finish "hard" difficulty levels, start selling items instead of upgrading with them. (Unless you forsee using them of course) - Try to use only the cards meant only for upgrading (fusion boosters), and try to use four at a time. It costs more gold to use them one by one. - To facilitate the previous tip, spend gems mainly (only?) on bag space upgrades. - Raid early (morning), raid often. Pick the target with the highest gold payout that you can still likely win. This gets fusion boosters too. - Upgrade your keep defenses - not to win, but to generate income while you have free shields (after a loss). Try to harvest that income before the shield goes down.
Ofc you feel limited cuz it's a mash-up of different genres which are heavily stripped down and casualized without providing any real core mechanics. Sooooo, your thinking on that is understandable I guess. Well, if someone likes it to play the very basics of those genres it is surely fun. I just held out on it due to the heavy using of iap. Other than that, the tutorial seemed very promising though xD
I've decided to try this game out, if all is good and I regularly start playing this I'll add everyone in the add me thread.
