I think the tutorial needs a little tweaking as this game is not like DH4 or others before it, the whole mechanic of using the elements for fights isn't an unfamiliar mechanic but new to this series. I understand holding any item gives detailed specs and that before each mission there is an icon that states what element is best suited for the mission, but.... To manage the inventory I'm deleting some of my lesser used items by fusion and trying to focus on 2 sets of weapons. Dual swords and crossbows, the swords are air and the bows are earth as those 2 have been used most often so far that I have seen but I'm still not far into game. I see re super fusion thing, but if it's like other games, I suppose it gives more experience of achieved? Im not sure. I wish more expansion had been given to info regarding the importance of the elements and whether stats take priority over elemental alignment. I'm assuming that higher grades weapons and armor probably nullify the elemental rotation in lower areas but I'm still rocking 1 stars ATM
Is it me or the inventory is way to small for five full sets and fusion and evolve materials? The starting inventory needs to be bigger.
Thanks for responding, Eli - I've not considered that F2P has an inherent challenge. It's interesting that subscription-based gaming has not taken off like it has on the PC - clearly mobile is a different ballgame. Anyway, sorry if I helped derail the thread - I am personally losing interest in this one because of the lack of character customization - can anyone speak to this? Is every character Mr. Guy and Mrs. Gal??
Guys, I'm begging you, please take these types of conversations to their own thread. I am absolutely not interested in how much money subscription based PC games do or do not make in the Dungeon Hunter 5 thread
Unless skills come later, it appears it's auto attack and random magical attacks gained by cards acquired in combat, other than the rolling dodge which is given at the beginning. I don't even see a skill tree icon
Honestly, for the mechanics of this game the story is pretty pointless and they should have gone back to the arena style of DH3. What is the point of the story if you're going back and doing the same missions over and over? Instead of the story adding to the game it just becomes a nuisance of voices and pop-ups when you're grinding the same chapters over and over to get gear to advance. I'm utterly disgusted with the greedfest this series has become. I don't see how this game is an improvement over the last. I actually think this is worse than the last one. All I see in this game are more pay mechanics. Now we have bases to fill with minions, multiple gear sets to acquire all using the same random resource... chests. Instead of waiting for potions to recharge we have to go do hard missions and hope we get some potions. I have zero problem with freemium games, I've been playing TaiChi Panda and Infinite Myths. I've spent money on both of them mostly because they are fun games and have a rewarding payment system. I get the in game currency daily because of my purchases in the past. It's a system that rewards you for your generosity by being generous also. DH5 nickels and dimes you and just wants more money instead of rewarding you for both playing and paying. Clearly we're never going back to a premium DH game but I really think Gameloft needs to work on their payment model. Then again, I'm sure they are making a ridiculous amount of money from people with too much disposable income so they don't really need to change. It's just very frustrating that a series I use to love has devolved into a lackluster exploitative polished turd. I can't even play this game because it's just not fun or rewarding in any way when the greed behind every mechanic is so blatantly obvious. I'm glad some of you are enjoying this game. I really wish I could but I think this is the last DH game I'll ever install and uninstall.
Blah blah...are you done with posting this nonsense yet? If people don't like a game it doesnt matter how much of a cash cow it is. You cant be taken serious since you said that D3 is fading; every indie game has snes graphics; freemium is the only way to go for not going bankrupt and saying that 'this is the way how it is", anyways. Back to topic so my comment doesnt gets deleted for derailing the thread: I really don't like the color palette which has been used in DH5. Anyone with me on this?
Like other games your progress may be tied to the Game Center ID on the Gameloft server. You may not be able to start over unfortunately.
Mission 8! I suggest you all go back and play it on hard to get the ice armor. It helps a lot and I got it on my 4th try. Some get it 1-2 tries but def go for it!
Really love the way you can equip any weapon and use any skill, this is exactly what I am talking about, Battle Heart Legacy class/skill system on top of Diablo style combat/loot and top notch freemium production value/infinite contents. COC base building is cheery on top. I like the skill/class system even more than Battle Heart Legacy because you don't need to worry about stat requirement so you literally can be anything at any time. It will be a lot of fun to decide whether you want to use an epic 2 hand sword or stick to dual wield because you have better gear set for dual wield even if your weapon itself is weaker. Addictive RPG is about forcing the player to make choices! This is definitely my favorite hack and slash on mobile so far (and I tried everything from every Zeonia/Inotia to Dark Avenger to Battle Heart Legacy)! Truly the complete package in feature set. Suggestions: Is combo just for show or the damage goes up when you hit bigger combos? It would be much more satisfying to line up bigger combos, fighting games style for say a 0.25% damage bonus after each hit, capped at 20% or something. This way you can chain combo and finish with an active skill with damage buff. I wish they nerfed auto-attack damage and made active skills a bigger focus. It would greatly reduce the "mash auto attack until dead" syndrome. It looks like you can chain cast skills (the first lightning spell I got can be casted twice and it would need to go through two cooldowns). So the longer you wait the more powerful that specific skill becomes. I just hope active skills are more powerful than DH4 later in the game. The entire series had this problem from DH2 days and so far, it is my only complaint. It seems like active skills are once again supplemental and you will be doing 80% of the work with auto-attacks after you cast active skill buffs.
Not sure but I've read that completely resetting your device through itunes is the only way to reset your character. Most games are using a file called keychain.db inside your devices system folder to identify your device since Apple changed the policy on UDID usage. The savegame itself is stored on GL's server. It seems this is the case here cuz people on the in game chat were saying that logging out from game center doesnt work at all. If your device is jailbroken, you can try to delete any relevant info inside the keychain to reset your device. I did this on some games already, though, it doesnt work for every game. Is there any reason to why people want to reset their account?
With all the awesome premium releases this week (assuming you have an iPad), is there any reason for me to spend time decrypting DH5's Freemium game mechanics? Yeah, I'm sure it will the Grossest game released this week, but that doesn't mean anything to me. I don't make a profit off it, Gameloft does. I just play it.
Any general tips that anyone wants to give me? Right now I'm trying to get a full set of armor of every element. dunno if its the right goal I should be setting on myself or the wrong one probably name change or gender change. Or maybe they screwed up something when they barely started and they want to avoid that error with a reset.
Try to get a good weapon of every element instead. For armor, just pick the one with the most stars and the most defense and level it up as far as possible.
