Disappointing overall, just hate all the IAPs, gems, potion system, timers etc. Had so much potential, awesome graphics, animations, gameplay, menu/crafting (in theory!) etc, but too many of the things above that most people hate about a lot of recent games. The TA vid just shows how awful it is. I played through until the warmage arena style battles where you fight waves of enemies. Cheap tactic which was too easy just to kill the mages then kite around (like zombie train) the other enemies waiting for health to regen slowly. So yes, cheap, but wholly necessary as scale of enemies perhaps too high so early on - but of course it's so you give in and start spending on IAPs. But what's the point of a dungeon/looter if you can just buy instead of earning - what's to work for if you do take the plunge? It's counter-intuitive and sucks the life out of such games. I guess you could grind the early levels for gold and then hit the shop for more powerful gear, but so early on? Yawn! And you can get around the timers / health issues by just defeating the area of baddies, then doing nothing whilst you recharge, then move on, fight, repeat. And having to use so much gold on every action is just appalling : removing charms or combining charms. I loved DH1 and 2. Hope no-one drops real money on this shambles!
Yeah, it's really trying to get you to chuck some cash in to the pot! Don't do it!!! Best thing is to kill the ranged enemies first, then just run round the edge of each area with the rest following while health/energy/spell recharges. Then kill a few, run around/recharge, kill a few and repeat. Actually, you can even leave the odd ranged enemy alive. As long as you are moving, their fireballs etc wont hit you. You can do this for every wave for each area.
Just to complete a triple-post I don't like the IAP stuff etc, but accept the Devs need to make cash, so am not expecting it would be free and void of IAP. Much prefer a one-off charge like the early DH's, and then the feeling that you can earn everything in the game - get rid of all the rubbish/timers/potion/crystal system etc. Maybe you can find everything possible in repeat play throughs, or buying with grinded stacks of gold, but am guessing it would take some immense time investment - perhaps not very rewarding in that sense.
I'm sure if the game were 6.99 you would be complaining anyway about some other aspect. There is a reason devs have gone free to play. USERS. People moaned and groaned about spending a few bucks on a game. Where is the same uproar about the price of gas? Haha.
... So I played this some last night and for a min or 2 this morning and its ok. It feels a little slow kind of I dont know why but I feel like its not all that smooth and as fast as I would of liked. I mean I enjoyed it while playing it but at lv 5 or so I was taking more damage and noticing the difficulty adding up to hopefully not but potion use. The timers for removing a gem and speeding up this and that kind of sucks I mean here you find a awesome gem in a piece of equipment only to have to wait 10 min to remove it and use it on your current equipment or pay IAP.... I will keep going to see if this gets any easier if you find some decent gear. Has anyone else noticed while doing a quest if you answer a text or phone call it tosses you back to the world map when you come back to the game and you have to start over?
Hi everyone! I'm C-A-N-D-I-C-E (TA deems my name inappropriate ) and I'm the community manager for DH4. Some of you might know me from MC4 I'm not super active on the TA forums -I focus more on the official FB page (https://www.facebook.com/DungeonHunterGame) and the Gameloft forum, which should be up some time next week. However, I'm always lurking and available to answer questions and listen to your suggestions (you can private message me if you want my Twitter handle, the best way to get in touch with me). I've gone through all your comments about the game and have forwarded all the issues to the dev team for their responses. I'll post them here as soon as I get them! Happy dungeon hunting!
Exactly. I find it laughable. This is not a hack and slash, it's a cash and grab. This game is the epitome of what real gamers don't want iOS gaming to turn into. So enjoy this joke of a game guys, keep telling them we want to be treated like mindless consumers and that mobile gaming isn't for serious gaming.
Game Impressions Trust Gameloft to throw a little non-toggleable auto-aim in there for reduced combat interactivity. If you could have the devs to implement a toggle for full manual aiming/attack direction (in both melee and ranged), CMMC4, that would make a solid difference for my enjoyment of the game. Possibly for others as well
Yep fair play shes posted but i just hope the comments (constructive ones) do something. Plus at the end of the day didnt they think the last few weeks that 'perhaps iOS gamers wont be happy with the timers and IAP's ?'. Was it really that much of a surprise ?
I'd be happy with 6.99 or more for a full version of this game without IAP, where you earn your upgrades etc like DH1 and 2. I wonder if I spent 6.99 on IAP how powerful I could be, but then that would ruin the point of looting/progressing. The core game is pretty ace, presentation is impressive. Just a shame the whole experience is cheapened / ruined with the IAP, timers, potion system etc. Just too in-your-face and too much saying how great your character could be if you spend some cash. One of the most awful moments was part of a tutorial section on timers, saying something like "... would take far too long, so speed it up with crystals..." - just really awful. The sad truth is that clearly the free-to-play model is profitable otherwise Devs wouldn't be going for it so much. But a big thumbs down from me!
Not true. I've bought Dungeon Hunter 1 & 2 for both iOS and Android and have not complained about either. I'm not the whining gamer you'd like to peg me as. Believe me, I'm aware of how fickle gamers are. $6 for a game is nothing to whine about, that's cheap.
Not true. I spend about $50 at least a month on apps. I prefer when i can just buy an app for say 6-10 dollars rather than 'free' which we all know means grind grind/tons of IAP's. I want the devs to get money, i dont wait for early bird sales, i buy games asap so devs get the full money, i dont wait for a game to be 99c or free. I think the amount of freemium games is due to users who wait for games to drop in price (when they are SO cheap anyway) or wait for games to be free, then the devs make no money, retire from apps and we all lose out. But what i do dislike is when a game has timers (do you seriously like those ?) or is IAP heavy as they 'force' you to buy IAP's. Just let me buy it as at a premium price as i did with SO many previous Gameloft games. I loved DH1 and 2, Hero of Sparta 1 and 2 (before they went freemium) and many others, eg Batman which was premium priced. I want to buy this for say $6 or $10, just many people (you 'might' have noticed) dont like freemium Its not about being a cheap, its about not being taken for a ride with lots of IAP's in order for you to get past 'level xx' etc.
I wonder if the game is too far gone to change any of the fundamentals - assuming enough people want the same thing of course. This depends on commercial success of the current IAP system - if they make enough from people coughing up, then nothing will change, naturally. I wish they'd be a second version, maybe a £5 price tag, but is more akin to the awesome DH1 & 2 with no IAP. And then at least the current version remains for people who want to buy their way through a tough level / buy an epic weapon or item. The core game is just fine in many ways, it's the implementation of IAP, crystals, potion systems that are a huge disappointment/annoyance for me.
Totally agree. Shame. Its like Order & Chaos, now i loved that game, played it tons , so much i was ignoring my other games i had. But wish that had an offline single player type version (as i was on an ipod touch and didnt always have net access). Dungeon Hunter 3 i would be happy paying $10 or $6 etc, just dont want to play it and get in the position of waiting for certain items due to a timer or having to keep buying health potions as they cunningly dont have so many in the game kindathing. Wish there was a premier priced version of it
Just hit a paywall. Level 8 at Warmage academy, it's near impossible to defeat the final boss. Going to grind a bit, if it's still not doable then I'll delete this game.
I havent got that far yet but i'll see how i get on. I think the game plays well but yeah i've been nervous of hitting a paywall which will totally ruin it. I'll see how i get on once i get this far
