Just some personal considerations about the tech side of the game. 1) The italian translation is very poor, and worst of all the translated writings on the option buttons are often misplaced due to bad adaptation (i.e. the "Restart level" and "Exit to the main menu" options "go out" the borders of the button spaces). Please devs try to correct these issues, or at least put an option to choose ingame language since it's automatically detected on the device itself language. 2) The frame rate is, in my opinion, very low, both on iPhone and iPad. Hope a patch can fix this. 3) The UI is very confusing, too much buttons on the screen, and having an option to reconfigure the positions of each button could be very useful. Thanks in advance to the devs for listening to these (constructive) critics.
Ok ive just bought and tried the game. This game is really cool but for me the biggest drawback is the terrible camera. there's no swipe or pinch zoom and u can't pan away from your character which is a bummer. i would like to see in future updates some of these camera features implemented if not all of them. also it would be nice of you just give us like a lock to character camera option and free look. u could also add in a tap to move feature so that as we pan around in the free look mode we could also direct our character to where we want him to be at. and why are the game's graphics very jaggy?
1) Currently the iOS version does not have pets, there were technical performance issues with those little guys flying around on the iPhone 2) Yes you can forge items. Once you forge an item that item is forever named by you. You can trade it, sell it, or use it yourself and it will always have your name attached to it. It can be your way of showing off.
Game Impressions I got the game and played it on the train for a couple hours this morning. I did not do very much in that couple hours though. I find the UI kind of difficult to use, especially the camera. I find it hard to figure out where I am, or where the mobs are at any given point of the battle phase. I keep building the spike barriers in places that seem to block my own ability to move freely around the board. I keep finding chests that seem to drop little sparkling blue dots or money or something, but not sure what they do. I thought that pacing of the tutorial was totally whack. It would go too fast, or it would be in the way of what I was asked to do, or it would go too slow. Horrible tutorial. I think the game looks neat. I am not even sure what all of the buttons do though. And I am not so sure that I understand why I am building spike barriers, when it seems easier to just go hit the monsters with my sword. So it just seems more action than TD.
Wanted to delete it during the tutorial but didn't. Played a few waves after THEN deleted it. Horrible game on many levels. Bad controls, bad camera, bad UI, cluttered display, poor use of 3rd person 3d in what is an overhead 2d genre. The list is very long.
Yeah, I've been soloing and having a lot of fun. I have been replaying levels farming for mana to stash in my forge to upgrade my equipment. This game takes a bit to get use to but once you do then it's just amazing. Really I just wanted to take a quick break from the game and say GREAT JOB TRENDY ENTERTAINMENT! I love this game and can't believe you guys are only charging $2.99 for this amazing game. I really think the production value looks and feels top notch, thanks for the great deal, I will be supporting any future IAP for sure.
/cosigned Wait until you try multiplayer.. It will be even better.. One of the best multiplayer ios game i've played along with Carcasonne and Fruit Ninja.
Nice... Amazing game. Kudos to the devs at Trendy. Love the two phase approach ( Build + Combat ) and the tavern is a great touch. Do I think this game could use some further polish/optimizations ( some slowdowns even on my iPhone 4 + zomg where are the pets?!?!? )? Yes, absolutely. Is this game the only one I can't put down since downloading this, Real Racing 2 and Aralon? Yup. If the goal of making this cheap at $2.99 USD is to get people hooked and see a sales conversion when the PC version releases, well... I'm converted. Incidentally, is this coming for OSX? I much prefer my macbook to my pc.
Another nice small review. Everything is spot on here. My only gripe about this game are the slowdowns in multiplayer.. Might be to due to lag or non-optimized netcode ?
Seriously, you must have some godly high standards. I can't believe how many people are complaining about the tutorial and the UI and the camera. Everyone is just used to pinch to zoom and swipe to pan. Sorry but not every camera should work that way. And the frame rate is not that low. Am I defending the game? Hell yes. It's a magnificent game and I had a blast jumping into multiplayer without doing the single player campaign first. I got through the tutorial really fast so I could hop online as well but I still had the patience to work through it. Only thing I can say about the tutorial is that maybe the box dialog can move on faster after the spoken narrative.
okay so ive been playing this game for the past couple of hours and im getting the hang of it. this game is fun! just finished a random multiplayer session too. man, talk about hectic. lol! awesome stuff. as for the camera, i just play zoomed out all the way. seems to help a whole lot.
thing is. we're used to pinch zoom and swiping. its what the iphone is based on. pinch, swipe, tap. but the mechanism is absent here and most of us dont understand why. so it is kind of an issue. especially when you can easily press on the minimap accidentally. plus. less buttons on the screen the better :3 but despite the lack of the camera control stuff. i think this game is pretty neat. :3
Adrian, is there even the possibility that the team would be able to optimize the engine enough to support pets down the line in a free update or IAP?
