- Incompatible with older devices - Huge file size for some 3D tower defense - iOS4.2 only (while something like Infinity Blade supports older iOS, lol) - Dungeon Defenders First Wave: yet another incomplete game urging to get released Oh guess these just saved me $2.99. Lots of great game releases today to keep me occupied.
downloading now! Add me on GC: DigitalB33R This is $2.99 of awesomeness, its so worth it considering I have an ipod touch and getting 2 ipads soon.
It's not just tower defense. It's a persistent action-rpg with tower defense elements; hence the huge file size. There is a ton of loot, equipment, character options, weapons, etc. that take up a lot of space. Not to mention it's running on the unreal engine. iOS4.2: it's a multiplayer issue, something you notice Infinity Blade did not launch with First Wave: It actually has MUCH more content than most mobile games. We call it first wave because you can import your character into the upcoming PC version which will have even more content. In the mobile version you can get up to level 60 and there are full campaign, challenge, survival, and pure strategy modes. This isn't even mentioning the 4 difficulty levels you can (and need) to take your character through if you want to get the best loot, etc. Anything we have extra on the consoles is literally stuff that was impossible to do on mobile: i.e. hundreds of enemies on screen at a time, etc. So it made sense that this should be called "first wave"
That was a cool online game that we just played, my connection to the host timed out though and I wasn't able to finish, but I look forward to playing a game with you guys tomorrow.
I agree, this game is loaded. Just experienced my first 4 player online and it was a blast. Didn't get to finish the game cause the app crashed, not sure what the cause was (RAM, wifi). Apparently you can also receive invitations from others while playing an online match. The frame rate does slow down when there is a lot going on. I'm really enjoying the game though and I'm probably going to pick up the next game (either PS3 or PC). The game is a mix of RTS and Tower Defense. I would write more but I need to jump back into the game. More impressions later
QQ you know this game is awesome when people compare it with computer and xbox standards XD instant buy for me
Finally got started on this game. Hmm am I the only person feeling a little dizzy with the game's camera / map controls? They seemed very awkward to me. Also not liking how the game requires me to rotate my phone to portrait (especially having it upside down portrait!) on the Hero Info page. Looks like it's going to take sometime for me to get used to the controls and camera... I kind of wished the camera to be at a fixed angle, like Warcraft3/Starcraft2. This is really making me dizzy. There should be a pinch to zoom unless there's another control already assigned for 2 fingers. Also, why do we have to set an angle for the towers? While I really love the narrator voice in the tutorial, the tutorial text is massive and is blocking everything in its way, making for a very unpleasant experience. There don't seem to be a way to hide the text (I tried the options didn't work for me). BUT I am loving the presentation of the game so far
Fun game with great graphics, but I find the controls to be very frusterating. I would like it a lot more if there was an option to have a fixed camera or a "swipe to move" camera like aralon has.
My very first impression is that this is a very content filled app. The visuals on the iPhone 4 are wonderful. However the HUD is horribly and (dare I say) unnecessarily cluttered. Some ideas to reduce the clutter: 1. Allow the user to pinch to zoom in and out It's 1000x more intuitive and frees some screen space from having to have a + and - button on the map button. Also, let the swipe one way to rotate the camera in that direction. 2. Is there a reason the user needs to press the map button to see where the incoming enemies are coming from? Couldn't small icons at the corner of the screen give the user a better idea from what direction the enemies are coming from? Like in Minigore, when there are enemies off screen, there's a tiny icon on the side of the screen that indicates that there's an enemy in that direction. Something like that. But tiny, less clutter the better. 3. The tutorial is fine. However the huge wall of text overlaps nearly half the screen is a little cumbersome. This is especially a pain when entering the equipment screen the first time. An audio only tutorial would be fantastic! Basically trimming down the HUD for the iPhone/iPod would be ideal.
For some reason, the game keeps crashing at the loading screen after conencting to game center, already re installed and it keeps happening : / EDIT: Oh wait, now it starts to work
If you guys get a crash, please keep track of it and PM me. We'll get as many fixed in patch 1 as possible . Same with suggestions for the game.!
