This is my pick for app of the week.

This is just miles better than dungelot 1 and 2.

My only problem is because i played Runestone Keeper. In RSK you attack a monster and THEN they attack you. Here its the other way around. This is something that i never really liked since Dungelot1 day1.

Not saying it should be changed, just saying that it is the only thing i dont like, everything else is just awesome. Even the icon

I think overall though, this game is better than Runestone Keeper in my opinion. Some of the mechanics are just more streamlined without comprising on depth, and theres a general cohesiveness between the different systems that simply isn't there in RSK. I prefer the art in this over the lacklustre and inconsistent pixel art in the former as well.

Wow, well done on getting Editor's Choice. As soon as I opened the App Store I got a huge banner for Dungelot and also the first game under Best New Games. This wasn't even under the games section, just the top-level of the App Store. Not sure if this is worldwide or just Aus, but congrats on that.

Looking the store page for the game though, I would have personally used portrait instead of landscape mode screenshots for the iPhone version. Most players probably prefer to play in portrait mode, when the option is available, and so it would have appealed to a wider audience in my view. Would have made the detail in screenshots clearer as well.

I live in the states and its Editors Choice here too. I think that is awesome. They deserve it! (Although Crashlands is also awesome. 2 outstanding games in one day!

I'm in the UK and Crashlands is editors choice, I thought they would be the same on all stores but I guess not. Crashlands is great though I've spent 6 hours on it already.

Slowly working my way up on this one, currently still catching up to my paladin with the vampire as I'm enjoying his play more so far.

Seriously though great game and I hope it does really well for you ((and for us so we get updates)) my only gripe I can't belive you didn't fix the gold icon only being half on the screen!

So, 3 hours into the game and i am stuck at cow tower. I do not mind the game being hard or grindy, just wanted to know if its normal or maybe im doing something wrong? #

Great game, and oh, Crashlands is also the editors choice here in the Philippines.

I thought I'd never beat the Zombie Cow tower, but I just finally did. Felt great too :D Upgrading the mansion is the key I think. And you naturally get better the more determined you are. So to answer your question - your situation sounds exactly like mine was so I guess it's normal?

Right after writing my post, i went back and tried it again, and weird enough, got it on that one try. I think healing potions and food helps a lot, guess a bit of rng luck with the vendor is a factor too. I breezed through it, on that run. Often times, im dead at 6-15 floors. :D

Edit: That boss fight, cutest fight ever. :D

Congratulations. Yeah I definitely agree luck plays an important role. I won't say too much but gaining access to the potion fairy helps ALOT too. (But you prob already knew that)

Edit: @Developers. Crash Report - when you select a bomb then choose who to throw it at, if you instead hold your finger on the monster as if checking its information, you get a crash.

I watched the trailer, and part of a video, and I'm not seeing what makes this interesting. It looked like a typical dungeon-crawler rogue-like from the screens, but then I saw how your character doesn't really move. Are you just tapping panels, and hoping they unveil stuff?

Could someone explain to me what the draw of the game is? What makes it fun? I'm on the fence about buying it.

Sorry to be daft but how do you upgrade your mansion? Is it something that unlocks later in the game? I'm only 3 dungeons in....

I was 10000% in agreement with you before I bought the first game when it was on sale at one point. I consider myself a hardcore gamer, which is where me opinion's coming from:

This game's got depth, but it takes time to realize it. Each monster has an hp and attack value, and each time you tap one, it deals and takes the amount you have etc, RPG mechanics. The interesting bit comes from the fact that the monsters each have traits. For instance, the lich, deals extra damage if you use a spell on it. So you have to think, is it worth taking the extra 5 just to maybe clear the room and get the extra gold.

The sticking point is that there're abou 5 monsters per room at the end of the first act, and it's a 5x4 grid, meaning that each time you unveil a monster, a high chance per turn, it "locks" the tiles around it, forcing you to deal with it in the most economical way.

That's it. It's sort of like minesweeper except you don't die by finding a monster. That's where the rogue-like mechanics come in. See if maybe one of the old ones is still free or something. However, without knowing the type of gamer you are, all this is totally potentially useless lol.

    -------------------

Pixeye, I've also got the same frame rate issue in the mansions screen as at the char select. Ironically, portrait mode helps one issue but not the other. Meaning, char select screen FPS count is lower in portrait, but mansion FPS count is higher in portrait.

Again, iPad 3, whatever os version is before 9.2.1

I wondered too when I heard about it. The mansion unlocked at some point around the same dungeon count. A new button will pop by the armory with absolutely no mention that it's there, or what it does.

When it pops up, every item in red is too expensive. Go into the screen when you have more than 100 gold, I wanna say that's the cheapest. Whatever you can afford to buy won't be red anymore. Tap on it and choose buy instead of OK.

The more time I spend with this game, the more it's starting to smell like the second one, and forgive what sounds like an annoyed tone, but that's the case.

    BUG REPORT.

    - Chocolate doesn't always add food to your total. (Paladin or vamp. Don't even wanna think what this means for the witch, whom I have not unlocked yet).
    - The green leaves don't always give the correct amount of health if used in multiples.
    - Same thing happens with iron ingots for armor, use multiples, gain 1.
    - Not all taps register properly, especially when it comes to collecting food. (See a pattern?)
    - Character stats screen doesn't display maximum life, it shows the current. This literally does not help at all.
    - Charge levels are supposed to affect spell power somehow. No information is given in the spell menu, no difference in damage between empty and full charge when using spells.
    - The vampire has a passive skill for leeching life per hit, blood drain specifically, NOT the initial staff. What's the percentage chance on that one? Considering you have values set as low as 0.6%, the lack of a figure leaves me guessing whether it's working at all. (There were nasty bugs in 2 concerning skill procs, so I'm now concerned.)

I'll add more as I stumble on them. If the devs need some kind of save game from me to check my save states, feel free to tell me how to extract it from the iPad, even generally, but I really hope this is just launch hiccups.

An rpg is only as good as the algorithm that does the math, and I'm not liking the fact that this game has the same problems 2 had, and missing content which was advertised in the teaser trailer. I'm not concerned about it being added for a cost later, I'm a grown man who can afford the 2 bucks, but again, my experience is starting to mirror what happened with the second one during law school. Bugs everywhere.

    1. We will check chocolate. Witch gains morale boost for eating choco
    2. I believe there MAY be visual bug with that but they work properly. ( you may see a lot of "1" numbers that spawn nearly the same time )
    3. same as the second point.
    4. It's something that we will tune.
    5. Agree.
    6. No, they do not. The spells that uses charge will use one spell point. They do not always give bonus in DMG. If spell has charging ability it is described in the spell menu. The charge level though affect passive skills.

ONCE AGAIN - we are NOT going to add something for cost that we planned to make for free. The game does not missing ANY content except two heroes as I do not see them in the game right now. I'd prefer to polish best what we already have and only then add new heroes.

Please also notice that we work with publisher and the great part of this that we have more time on game develop and supporting, so do not worry : ) We will make updates.

Thanks for your feedback : )

Awesome game that breathes the spirit of Dungelot 1.

Here's a big I found: I entered a dungeon and under the first tile was a monster that got struck down with divine intervention. But the surrounding tiles still were locked. (I helped myself by saving and reloading.)

Oh and please show the app icon more love (the "jaggies" are ugly).
