The first Dungelot is all premium. That said, you may not like it as it similar, just without the IAP. I really enjoyed the first one. Still figuring out this one. I agree this one needs some tweaking.
I have the sword but it only have counterattack ability. My attack is still 1 How to increase base attack damage ? Is spending gold at tavern the only way ?
Purely from a technical perspective it needs work; it's riddled with spelling errors and missing text (I've seen "New TextMesh" pop up more than once in place of an actual message) - there's even a menu item that's in a different language altogether (Russian?).
UGHH, apparently you need to EQUIP the damn sword I find it accidentally by clicking the sword icon and a green checkmark appeared Now my attack power is 3. This is the same with skills, you need to equip it first This is serious design oversight IMO, along with accidental Runes spending
I'm having a great time. I did have some nice RNG though. I'm only 2 keys into the first dungeon and made it to the last key floor but died. I'd say I've done about maybe 15-20 runs for that progress, and have a top score of 22 floors. Once you get the sword and first piece of leather armor it's a bit easier. I spent gold on upgrading those as well since the sword adds to base damage, and the armor adds to base hearts. Yah the sword needed upgrading once but it cost me 28gold and a couple of stones. Tips: 1. Prioritize health over anything else 2. I wouldn't pay more than 1 damage upgrade for 75gold at the start of a run 3. Best spells - Shield tiles, 10% hp return, reducing monster damage by half 4. Don't sit on spells, use them consistently 5. This game doesn't reward clearing floors that well, I move on any chance I get 6. If given the chance to uncover all tiles around monsters take it, you can replenish hearts, find loot way faster My problems with the game are that the meat timer is broken, I left the game overnight and never gained any meat back, so seems like its glitches at the moment, and some of the RNG can be quite brutal only in master key rooms. The rune IAP thing I'm not really bothered I mean it is what it is. Of course I'd love that it was tuned a little more favorably but once I put it out of my mind and just think that a rune system doesn't even exist it's been alright. Would I like it removed, yes but for free I can't really complain. The graphics I absolutely love, can't really see how people are complaining about that. I'm still not compelled to purchase the IAP unlock until a few of the bugs are fixed.
I'm usually not too hard on devs who go f2p, as I understand it's basically required to make any money these days. That said, this game is one of my first big disappointments of the year. I loved the first game, but this one seems significantly worse in every way. I've been playing for well over an hour just waiting for it to get anywhere near as fun as the original and it's just not happening. This is a painful grind, where the first one had a beautiful sense of progression. Add on the fact that things are really poorly explained in-game, there's significantly less strategy this time around, and you have to be extremely lucky to get runes and equipment (to progress) and this game just feels really frustrating. It's kind if depressing as I had high hopes for this sequel. Hopefully the devs take all the negative feedback to heart and do some major rebalancing. I'd happily buy the ham IAP to support this.
Game Impressions I think you're a little too unfair on this game. I've made a 3-4 games so far. Obtained my first piece of equipment (sword) and with tavern attack buff Im able to get to 15 lvl of dungeon. Proper spells also help to survive (to get two healing spells is a good thing) if u use them wisely. From my last run i managed to get about 650 gold so making 1500 gold isnt so hard as u tell. I think i will buy golden ham because stamina limit hinders progress really bad. My overall opinion: good game with few bugs (i.e. text messages, annoing revive window - i lost a few gems because of that :/ - but im sure they will be squashed in next update) and good replay value. Definetly worthy of support by buying golden ham. Im waiting for updates Good luck guys, try being not too frustrated with dying
I'm afraid I am also on the disappointed side of the fence as well. I wouldn't go as far as to say they have ruined the game with the implementation of freemium but by god they've hurt it. I'm not going to retread old ground but I will say I agree with most of the negative points in this thread so far. A real shame, the first one was a great little game, could kill ages playing it and I therefore had suitably high hopes for this one, ho hum. I'm not as anti freemium as some people on the site. But this is an abject lesson in badly balanced and thought out implementation of it. Needs reworking in my opinion.
So to anyone saying there isn't strategy involved is mistaken. Dungelot 2 needs to be looked at similar to a roguelike. Random elements each play through. Half the strategy comes from deciding if you stay to fight a monster (perhaps a boss with a blue chest) or continuing to the next dungeon. Also which skills/spells you will keep in your 2 slots. Maybe you hold onto the sleep spell that allows you to sneak passed enemies to find the key or maybe you grab the heal spell. Sure sometimes you'll have bad luck, not getting any skills and get destroyed early, but other times its all about how you play what is laid out for you. I agree some tweaking needs to be done, but I haven't spent a dime yet and have been able to progress easily.
A few more weird things to report (for the devs mainly): - I bought some one-shot items before entering the dungeon, then got a phonecall before even getting to the equipment screen. Came back to the game, and my one-shot items had reset back to nothing, but my gold had still gone. Not cool. - The last really good run I did, I was one floor away from the next boss, then I got warned that this floor had a bomb on it and I would instantly die if I didn't get out within 18 turns. Seriously? 18? It took me five taps to even find a monster, then it wasn't even dead after the remaining 13 and...game over. I had no chance. I know this game has an element of luck to it, but that's just pure evil.
I played til i lost all the meat today, coz i want to find something good out of it. In the long run, the first one was still a lot better for me. I never judge a game just because of a pay model, but i do consider it in doing so.
I actually didn't realize this with the sword. I'll have to go back and try it and see if it changes my opinion of the game at all. Definitely a big design flaw.
Clearly you're the exception. I'm reading a lot of comments from people that don't understand a lot of the mechanics. That isn't their fault, the developer needs to do a better job there.
Needs confirmation on using runes. Accidentally clicked a portal and accidentally hit the revive way more than I should. Considering that I never see any runes drop in a run, this is a bit extreme. I wouldn't consider spending a dime in this because of how easy it is to loose IAP items.
