I'm playing the Lite of the first game (link on p1 of this thread) and I'm finding it rather easy. It says games are 10 min but I've been at it for quite a while now and am down to the 38th dungeon. Is the game broken?
Im sure i asked about this at least once in the upcoming games thread but never got a clear answer. Now that you confirmed it, seems pretty moot they put a leaderboards if IAPs can rule it.
It's too easy to use them as well. When you die it asks if you want to use a Rune, with no way of saying no and skipping. If you touch the screen at all during the timer you end up using a Rune. I used my starting Tune like this and haven't found any more. Pretty annoying. So far this went from "I'm buying the unlimited meat for sure!" to "ehhhh... Well see how I feel in a few days."
Does anyone know what those weird potions do on the map? The only things that cost mana. I tried holding down on them to see what they do but it just "buys them". What's the point of grabbing the corrosive armor that is damaging to your player? Also what does the warp gate do again? I tapped it and didn't even ask me about my rune stone and just used it. Then I was like whatever then tapped the warp gate and it did absolutely nothing. So have no idea what it did and I took my rune stone.. --- I really wish killing enemies leveled you up. It'd give me a looot more incentive to fight. And it would make sense progression-wise since you can't upgrade your base stats. Your character really won't change much aside from the spells you find by luck. Now I feel like I'm just hunting for potions most the time and trying to avoid enemies (although they do hold the key to leave). Fighting stronger enemies almost has no incentive unless they have a chest above their head. I did lucklily find a 10% healing spell with a long cooldown but that run only netted me 130 gold...
Oh well... At least Dead Effect update can keep me busy for a while til things get (hopefully) tweaked/fixed in Dungelot 2. To be honest, im quite disappointed from what im hearing. I am downloading to see for myself, but mostly because im holding on to what i know in Dungelot 1.
The weird potions are totems or something that power up monsters unless you destroy them. Destroying them costs mana. The corrosive armour gets dropped when you kill certain enemies and powers up every other enemy in the field. Super annoying. I haven't found a way to get rid of it. Edit: It appears they can be cleared the same as totems. Weird.
That's odd, maybe it's because all I have used lately is the paladin (now all talented up) but eventually I get killed by the rougher monsters at the bottom. I hope the new game makes it easy then gets rougher. A game should be easy to learn and play but difficult to master. That really is what pulls you in and keeps you playing.
I disagree, I usually bow out of games that are difficult in the beginning. There must be time allowed to learn the mechanics of the game and then it begins to get more difficult as the game is convinced you have learned the basics enough to turn the difficulty up a notch. Having said that if the game lacks challenge it feels like you are just going through the motions and the victory is not exciting. This next statement is my opinion but I believe that the very best games are very easy to learn but difficult to master. Community builds around these games and discussion is usually interesting on strategy and in competition. Threes is a very good example of that kind of game. Now, playing the devils advocate I will admit that our ability to absorb information and be challenged is dependent on how knowledgable we are on those types of games and our ability to process information in general. You might be one of those who has a smaller learning curve and because of that you are overcoming the challenges easier. Hopefully this new Dungelot 2 provides the fix for those who are already stalwart and more difficult to challenge.
Ohh I get it. Seems like the hard earned equipment is what boosts your stats and survivability. Just got a second one, leather armor, which gives +6 hearts plus a chance to evade. Upgrading equipment upgrades your stats....I feel stupid for not getting this.
Nobody ever disagreed with that. But Dungelot 1 didn't turn the difficulty up ever. Once you were already a competent player, you still had to go through the chore of the first dozens of levels every time. They were clearly too easy for you by the time. That's what I meant by "challenging from the beginning". If you're new to the game then incredibly easy is probably already challenging. But when you're getting better, then incredibly easy is just boring.
Occasionally there is an archway that is uncovered. It has a symbol for 1 mana. I have tapped it but nothing happens and it merely says something like New Text. What does that do? Been experimenting with the armor and things. Have 2 of 3 keys to open the new tower but I hear that tower is a real pain. I have uncovered some runes. Probably 4 or 5? I am guessing. So it is possible. I just use them sparingly. The last one I used I was going to die with one hit remaining to collect the 2nd key. I used it to get it lol.
I think the archway is supposed to be a portal back to that level of the dungeon when you restart. I spent 1 rune by accident to continue my game, so I put my other rune into an archway on level 15. However on the next run I started back with low level monsters again, so I do t know what I did wrong there
Tower 2 does ramp up the difficulty for those worried about that and upgrading your gear will prove very helpful during that tower.
What are all the random "pieces" you get from the dungeon. I opened some bags and it looks like there's some leather or metal in them or something. But I can't see where they're stored. Not sure what they are. It doesn't seem like you can make items in this game.
