Blake stone would be awesome! I remember playing that for hours, good gibs too for it's time if i remember correctly, someone should port that, but with wolf3d quality controls, not duke3d.

I'm happy with Duke Nukem 3D, although the controls are not as good as other games. But better then nothing: Duke Nukem was only for one day in the German Appstore  Then someone decidet to protect children and kicked the Duke out of the store. Wolfestein?? Never saw this gam in Germany :(

So thanks to toucharcade.com to post new releases as soon as possible, before the stupid Germans kick the game out because of brutality

Hey was just wondering, if an app you have gets removed from your country`s appstore, do you still get updates for it?

I bought it a couple of weeks back and I'm really not convinced it is better than nothing. I find it to be completely unplayable. A real shame.

    No Updates

in Appstore you can buy games only with credit card, this should be enough protection for children  but they must deleate the the whole game from the store...

and why? because of killing stupid looking pixelated monsters... I don't understand the Germans...

The same with normal videogames, but we can import them from UK for example, what a big luck!

Can somebody tell me a trick, how to update Duke? Go in anothe country :D ?

Actually while I found the controls horrid, I was still able to beat 2/3rds of the game. So unless I've unintentionally become the god of all that is gaming, I'll go out on a limb and say it's not "impossible". I honestly didn't really even notice them after an hour or two of play. There's some pretty tight, hairy jumps too, which I had moderate at most difficulty completing.

I've beat the entire game with digi controls and went back through with the updated analog controls.... I don't see how you can say this game is completely unplayable. It's amazing!

Agreed, it's really not HALF as deserving of this flack as some have made it out to be. I still found it to be the most "complete" fps package on the iphone up until doom. Certainly has more content than that sloppy crapfest modern combat.

FINALLY. Someone that actually can determine a REAL FPS from a sissy FPS (Modern Combat). If you liked that game, your a shame to true FPS fans.

Purchase yourself a first-gen Ipod Touch, then you'll see. I had to turn off the message about Duke not being installed because it wasn't compatible with my ipod, that's how annoying it got putting up with it for this long.

I bought an app from an unknown developer, and they'd set theirs up the same way. I sent them an email, and they'd fixed the problem by the following day. They don't even have to resubmit the app; after the change is made with Apple, you redownload again and you're good to go.

3drealms unfortunately, aren't that honourable. Their unwillingness to fix this problem, instead content to just keep our money, cheapens everything that came before. No, my last memory of them remains one of deceit, and that's a very bad way to finish up.

To be honest, the first gen thing does really suck. But luckily I have a 2g as well. I do agree the first gen thing should be fixed, I know for a fact it runs great on a 1g

This game is coming along quite nicely and the controls are much improved, but to be really playable it's still in desperate need of a few fixes. jezzahardin sums up it nicely:

And can we get multiplayer?? Duke matches are a blast!

it might be fun if you like choppy unresponsive controls... the main reason it got a bad rap

These controls make the game prettymuch unplayabe, which makes me sad because I love DN3D

George, you've got to get your devs to add a tilt-aim mechanic. Turning and Looking should be done by tilting the device, moving with LS, and actions with buttons on the right; even after tweaking the sliders, the current scheme is too awkward to use. Also, the Mighty Boot should be activated by with a push motion, and optionally jumping with a pull motion too.
The weapon changing is not as urgent, but is still unwieldy. Try using a swipe list, it worked quite well for me. Swipe left and right to change weapons, with a small graphic to identify which one is currently selected, and a slight delay so that the user doesn't scroll through too fast.

I'd also advise not even having an option to turn on mirrors if they're going to slow the game down to a crawl, it just looks bad. Why not just port the Build engine to the iPhone? F**k BlurrySprites, I'm sure the iPhone is fast enough to software-render Duke in all his oldschool glory.

Please, please get them to work on this stuff asap, I'd love to have a portable version of such an awesome game, but unfortunately it's just not enjoyable in it's current state.

I liked Modern Combat, loved it actually. I don't see any shame in it at all
