Really? Forever or is the Appstore there just slower? If permanently then that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Well, you could.... Yeah, Wolftenstein and MC:S has the best controls. I think one of the "problem" is there are too many things we can do in Duke. It's the first FPS game that I remember in which I can jump and crouch. Plus, they didn't even implement the other "foot" (not a complaint). On the computer you used to be able to kick whenever you want without switching. After a while I sort of got used to the controls, but it's still to fast. Don't nobody tell me about tuning sensitivity, read my previous post.
I really disagree, the digital controls work just fine (I could care less about the messed-up analog sticks). And do you remember the controls in the free FPS game called "Cube"? I think that this game plays much better than Cube so it couldn't play worse than every other FPS....
Well, part from the bugs causing sticking, I managed to play fairly well with it. I don't slide around all that much, and resorted to kind of tapping. But then, I pretty much adjust to any control scheme quickly.
at last an update for this game but although the controls are alot better than before there is still room for improvement. if this game was out with working controls in the first place i would say that they are the best around but now with games like gangster west coast, imech and of coarse modern combat the controls for duke now feel very dated. im no programmer so i wouldnt have a clue on how hard it is to get controls working well but other company's have done it so why cant the duke team??
Yes, it was pulled a few days after the release. It is no longer available in the German store and therefore no update for the buyers of 1.0.
That stinks. Hopefully since you've brought it up, Broussard or someone within the company would investigate it and rectify the situation. Worse comes to worse, I'd say you're entitled to get the update by crook or by hook. (I bought the game, incidentally) Microphone? What? Exactly which aspect of the game requires you to use a mic?
Thanks George , this update makes the game easily playable. The controls are no longer broken and I am having no issues controlling duke (and I suck normally at this type of game ).
Nothing requires the microphone, that's just the generic statement you'd receive if you try to buy a game that's "not compatible" with a 1st Gen iPod Touch. Sometimes it is actually the microphone, other times it's because the developer forgot to check the correct boxes when submitting the app. I can't believe that they screwed up twice in a row with that, especially when it is stated as "fixed" in the update!
Ah, okay. I didn't know such problem existed Thanks for the explanation. Anyways, my playing Duke Nukem 3D again on iPod led me to do some googling stuff about Duke Nukem 3D, and I'm only just now finding out about Duke Nukem 3D high res project and the Doomsday Engine. Who knew! That looks so cool. I'm astounded.
im sorry. did someone say the controls were fixed? i dl the update yesterday and still cant play this game. why did this developer have to get all unique with the control mechanic and go off and design such a wacked system? hopefully this app isnt broken forever 3D. i dont see how things could get any better from here as the dev seems to think everythings ok? very disappointed with this game/update controls need to be re-thought out and something else has to be implemented
I could control this better before the update. Fiddled with the settings a few times but no good came from it. Why cant the Dev take a clue from all this negative feedback and get this right?
This game reminds me of how awesome MC:S is ! I think the guys who localize this can learn a trick or two from Gameloft!
Attempting to play this game is just a messy, sticky, tedious affair. The sad part is apart from the controls, I have no other issues with this game. Well having to open doors manually sucks ass too, but something I can deal with. I just want a fluid, fun experience rather than having to wrestle Duke around.
I still can't install the app to my 1st gen touch either. From start to finish, this has been an absolute epic fail of a release. It doesn't get a lot worse than this.
