I'm still a bit apprehensive, I mean, I know it's only $3, but I want to see the controls in action! If anyone could make a vid, I'd very much appreciate it. If not, oh well, I'll probably buy it anyway.
You've got to fiddle with them -- it takes some experimentation to find the right level for you. I prefer the analog ones, and they certainly work better than before. But don't expect MC:S controls, or you will be disappointed.
Yeah, fiddled around a bit, and they're a bit better now, but still feel awkward and clunky. MC:S controls would work a lot better I think. But I can at least play the game now
Okay, the new controls are better -- they take some adjustment, but once you get them where you want them they're a definite improvement. There's still one thing that bugs the hell out of me though: The sticks lose focus when you slide outside the circle. They shouldn't. They should respond accordingly no matter where you slide your finger and only lose focus when you lift. I feel like I have to be cautious with where I slide my thumbs lest they lose focus and I stop moving. That needs to be fixed.
Yeah, but the difference in Alive-4-Ever is that the sticks are digital, so it didn't take broad movements to do things. Because the improved controls in Duke are analog, you intuitively want to move your fingers further for faster movement, but without any physical feedback to denote the outer limits of the controls you tend to slip off the circles if you're not paying attention. If the dual stick analog controls were also applied to the digital controls I think that would solve a lot of issues people are having. Most people play FPS games with a combination mouse/keyboard, with the mouse being for looking and the keyboard for moving. Even if just the movement stick was made digital it would be a huge improvement. You'd need to add either a run or slow button though.
Congrats George on finally rectifying the control issue, late as it may be. I was pensive about buying the game upon hearing the control issue, and now I can finally buy and enjoy it. It has already been stated clearly that the 1.0 would not work on the first gen, and as far as I know the path only fixed the control issue. Anyways, the control is still a bit off but passable. Turning sensibility, even though can be tuned, just does feel right. Tuning the sensitiity just affect how fast you turn, it should have affected how far you have push the dpad to turn. Think about mouse sensitivity. It's not about how fast your in-game turning speed is, it's about how much you have to move your mouse. It would also be nice to turn off auto- centering. I did not see this option. It would certainly help to not auto- center when you're stafing and try to shoot someone above you.
Nope, it says clearly in the update description that it should support 1st gen ipod touches now. I'm dissapointed, I would have bought it.
Anyone else with a 1st Gen Touch try to download it yet? I'm really surprised/disappointed if it's not compatible with this update, especially since it says in the description that it is...
It won't sync... thats sad. It will sync on my gf's 2G with 3.0 but not my 1G with 3.0. I waited how long.... Seriously, and this situation still sits like this even though the Update status says "Now Works on 1G and 2G" For Real?
