I hope this is the case. Its just that I'm a follower of review sites such as Gamespot and IGN since more than a decade, and have seen how George's announcements have changed over time. Anyway, hoping he won't let us iDevice users down (especialy 1st gen touch owners like me)
Add this: "Have no fear! Mindfield Premium Quality Tin is here!" .. and this almost sounds like an advertisement anyway, relax man.. dun take it personally. I hope the update comes out. Peace.
The App. Has been pulled so the update was probably cancelled aswell. They had to resubmitt the App. George broussard Stated it on His twitter page.
It is most certainly NOT an advertisement! I resent the implication that you'd consider the idea that AlcanĀ® would pay me to advertise their premium quality Aluminum Foiltm brand tinfoil in a Duke Nukem thread on an iPhone gaming forum. That offends me, sir. I may have to leave these forums and go eat some vegetables that were kept market-fresh in a bowl wrapped securely with AlcanĀ® Aluminum Foiltm brand tinfoil Good day to you sir! Remember: shiny side out.
I "love" it when writers use off-hand phrases like "not without its issues" and then move on without explanation. To try to draw any kind of equivalence between Duke Nukem controls and MC:S controls is pretty asinine (and frankly, an embarrassing bit of butt-kissing on the part of the interviewer). I actually think that Duke Nukem is a decent port except for the controls, so I'm looking forward to the update. Still, MC:S has now become the gold standard when it comes FPS controls (whatever you think of the actual game), and it wouldn't hurt if the press acknowledged that.
I noticed that too...."Silver-rated"??? What issues? This part is nice too: Ya, good stuff there...making excuses I wish I didn't buy Duke at all, not from these guys.
I'm just confused at how broken controls (I think the scheme is fine, but the sticking is a programming error) can be explained by "a communication problem". Did someone say, "Make sure the controls work!", and someone mistook it for "Make sure the controls are broken!". I guess I could see it if someone said don't release it yet, it's broken, and it got out by miscommunication.
im rejoining this thread to add my discontent as well .. .. but really, it was cheap at the time. if you like the current shambles then is all good. poor excuses tho and way too long a wait, thats what really disappoints
I can work with the digi controls rather well. Tried analog and wow it's bad. Digital controls fully work great though!
One things for sure I won't be wasting 3 bucks on a pretty game with ugly controls. Sandstorm is still the king.
I've just been told by the developer that the update is live, finally. I have no idea with it took this long to get through Apple. Approval times, from talking to other iPhone devs I know, range from 1 week to 5 weeks. It's just silly. Hopefully the analog controls are much better and you can all enjoy the game now. I'm sorry it took so long. We had the update submitted 4 days after launch
Bottom line is, I wasn't shown the game before it shipped and the devs thought the controls were ok. I was aware of the port but wasn't in direct control of it. As soon as I saw a version I tried to delay the release, but it had already been submitted. Doing the best we can now to straighten things out.
I know it's fashionable among some here to bash you personally because they feel that you let them down, but I appreciate the fact that you're up front with what happened. The controls, as you yourself noted, weren't optimal, but the game WASN'T broken. I decided to wait after the first two levels for improved controls, and it was a long wait, but I for one didn't hold you personally responsible. I admire the fact that you continue to come on here and update us even though some are attacking your character.
