You will care about the controls once you can get it to run on your iPod Touch, trust me. :) Still, if you want to get it working; just have a look at this old thread of mine: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=22611

Eventually you'll still end up being utterly disappointed though... Not just because of the controls; it's a sloppy port all over:
At some points the game's unbearably slow, causing the controls to be even more unresponsive than they already were... And, because there's not even a basic thing like a frame rate limiter, the game sometimes is way too fast. And a ton of smaller bugs: Some sound effects are wrong: For example, if you walk over a teleporter, you'll hear a machine gun sound...
Secret levels are cut out; in fact, if you try to go to the secret levels, you've suddenly completed the episode, instead of going to the next level.

In conclusion: Save yourself the disappointment and wait just a little longer for the update...

    Very true.

George? Perhaps you shouldn't be looking for us to tell you what we want "added" to the game at this point. Perhaps it's in your best interest to have those of us that TOFTT actually test your application. It's clear that a proper round of testing was never done on your end.

    Great post, nferno.

Anyone else have a bug list? I'll start compiling one if I can ever bring myself to play again without fixed controls.

    Grrr.

That point was conceded a very long time ago. In fact, you have brought it up before: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=448482&postcount=526

What good is complaining more going to do if the update is in the approval process?

It might make him feel better? In any case, I'm pretty sure he spent his money and not yours, which gives him the right to hold a grudge if he wants.

And hey, it's not like we have anything better to do, like enjoy a round of Duke Nukem 3d, for example.

I love this game, and it came as such a disappointment when I found out how awful the controls were. We just need some simple Doom controls here. Nothing too ridiculous. I don't know, but I would think it wouldn't be that hard.

Apple aren't responsible for the shoddy controls of the original. Nor are they under any obligation to give the update any special treatment in terms of how fast it is approved, regardless of how many impatient whiny brats are complaining.

Just out of curiosity when an app has been pulled and is resubmitted, does it count as a new app and if you owned it before you wont get the updates?

That would be a joke if i had to pay for it again just because of some wrong search tags.

The general answer is: no, it does not count as a new app. There have been a few cases, however, of apps changing publishers, where a new purchase has been required for updates, but that's a rare (nasty) move.

The update for the improved controls was submitted almost a month ago. Where the hell is it then¿¿ Isn't it only supposed to take 2-3 weeks in most instances from submission to approval? George, if you're still keeping up with this thread, please shed some insight into this.

Don't want to start a fire here but... what makes us so sure that George has actually submitted it? Maybe he just 'promised' it like he 'promised' Duke Nukem Forever?

    Just a thought.

Not really. 3DRealms never promised to ship DNF until "it was done". While there were many attempts to guess when that date would be, the correct answer was always "Never".

As for what's taking so long, I could ask the same about The Deep and Wild West Pinball. They've been stuck in approval for so long I've started to give up hope of ever seeing them on my phone. The only hope I have is that Defender Chronicles finally made it through approval. If DC can do it, maybe the Pinball games can too.

No hope for DN3D, though. I figure Apple will have it approved just in time to upgrade to the next model of phone. (I kid! I kid!) :p

Do you really think that someone who wants to run a profitable venture releasing a title that is not DNF and has nothing to do with DNF or the problems that plagued it would commit career suicide by intentionally misleading everyone by saying he submitted the update when he didn't? Especially when it isn't even him that developed it, but another dev team entirely who otherwise have no ties to George or the erstwhile 3DRealms? On a title as classic, popular, and hotly anticipated as the original Duke Nukem 3D? On the most popular mobile software platform in the known universe?

Do you two own stock in the same aluminum company, or do you think George is just that mind-bogglingly stupid?

Occam's Razor: Do not needlessly multiply entities. (In layman's terms: The simplest answer is usually the correct one. This is Apple. Approvals tend to be ridiculously arbitrary and take entirely too long. Which is the most likely explanation?)

Everyone knows that aluminum oxide is a far poorer conductor than tin. Real nuts use only the finest quality tin foil. That way the aliens can beam the... err... I mean... stop the government from reading their minds!

Yeah, that's the ticket. Stop the government and their mind probes. Only the highest quality tin foil.

    Yeah.

Hey, look at the shiny thing everyone! :p
