No my point is, the company that made DNF shut down. The development team was all fired. Any hope of having the game finished depends on another developer buying the rights to it and finishing it themselves, and no developer is going to do that if there is any concern over ownership.
It had a free look mode even when it was launched! But you could play it in the Wolf3D mode (with auto-aiming and just keyboard) which most of the players at that time did - especially in VGA mode. I played it from day one on in SVGA, with mouse and free look.
Yes, but since the game was handled in software rendering, free look didn't really do anything. It distorted all of the graphics, and never really added anything to the experience, since the aiming automatically targeted up and down anyways. My point is that even though the game always supported looking up and down, it never required it - it was designed to be software rendered in a way that didn't support anything close to true free look.
Well, back then it was a big deal for me and really a step forward for games. But you are right it wasn't really integrated as part of the game - although sometimes there was an enemy outside your "normal" view.
Hi George, i don't know if this was addressed already but i noticed that the areas that are supposed to be pitch black or very dark aren't. thus making the night vision goggles rather useless. though i dont really care about it much, it's just something that i noticed.
Just a bump to remind people that an update is in Apple's hands now to correct the Touch 1G compatability and the controls (they are more like Wolfenstein now). Feel free to help pass the work on various iPhone forums. Appreciate the help.
While I'm here, feel free to start listing things you'd like to see in the next update. What features, bugs or general polish would you like to see added? We are compiling the list(s) now.
Thanks George! I for one would like to see cheats implemented, more guns, the map, and the game music.
Can we get a Sound Board? Or even just all those favorite sayings like Eat Sh** and Die. or Time to Kick Ass and Chew Bubble Gum... I'm all out of Bubble Gum.
Perhaps better optimization for the 3g? i get some wicked slowdowns with 3+ enemies on screen, large areas etc, otherwise i love it, this si taking me back to 6th grade!
I guess the update should be out any day now. I like the digital controls so i'm really waiting for the second update, not the first one. I don't understand those who say it's unplayable. Just practice a little and it's fine... I love the comment on the app store by the person who says that the controls are so bad that they can't even get off the roof on the opening sceen. Are these negative reivews by doom/wolf fanboys who want to duke bash like they did last century As far as what i want to see in the second update: 1. music 2. ammo count on the screen 3. atomic edition levels Thanks again George. Hail to the king!
It took me about 5 seconds to get off the roof back on my 486 33mhz, it took me about 1 minute on my 3gs, unacceptable.
George: I forgot to mention earlier that you may want to update the text on the app store listing saying that the update to address control issues will be out any day. That may boost sales for those on the fence about it.
Dumb question.... Why can't I continue after beating the Abyss boss? After I defeat him, it says "touch to continue" and brings me back to the "New Game/Load Game" screen!
