Yes, it's gone once it's used up. But you don't need the jetpack to get into his apartment. Just jump on the crate you see to your right when you drop down the duct at the start of the game, then jump from there onto the ledge and in through one of the two secret windows, same as you would if you were getting the hidden rocket launcher, just going to your left instead of your right.

Eh don't mind him , there's always at least 1 or 2 asshole posts per thread. I hope to see DNF one day but if not it's not like I lost money or something. 3DREALMS owes me nothing.

    Mine saves.

And for the record, you can shoot with a button, you can put jump on the centre analogue and a whole slew of other stuff that people want are already in the game.

The controls are a bit broken and gltchy, this is true - buttons not working, or getting stuck (lol, my fire button got stuck and it emptied my shotgun).

  4. Releasing Duke in a state that it's currently in would be like releasing Pac-Man without a directional down and controls that were sometimes responsive.

unconnected hit it on the head when he said that this is not MiniGore, this is Duke Nukem 3D.

Well I found something out about myself. I already seem to touch on the analog circles to move ;) So I don't have nearly as bad of a time playing this game then the rest of you :p I do think the speed is way to fast though.

Not sure why people are mad at the tap to shoot option? There is a crosshair option which will give you a "button" to hit to shoot the guns. Also to help with the somewhat odd controls is the "Easy Aim" feature.

Took me a second to figure out where the inventory is but the jetpack worked out all good.

One thing I'd love to see would be entering to console mode to enter codes  codes rule lol

Duke's apartment is actually across the street from that one, the windows next to and above the Movie Theater entrance. I read that you can jump on the tree to gain access, but it's very difficult, especially with the controls on the iPhone.

    But thanks for the response.

    at my computer?
first. YOU CAN TURN TOUCH TO SHOOT OFF! and use a button to shoot.

ok saying that, I agree with everyone that the controls are still horrible. How about instead of everyone coming onto this forming and just yelling and saying how bad the game is, maybe we should give more feedback on how to at least salvage it. Yes, I too think that its wrong for devs to release games like this... but I don't know about you but I was really looking forward to this game and I want the devs to go back and change the controls and actually make it playable.

My suggestions for what they are worth:

I like to use the analog sticks, but these are unusable. You can only tap on them, you can't slide your finger around. They need to be like wolfensteins control pad (smooth). As they are right now sometimes I tap on the right side to move right and I end up running backwards. Impossible to use.

The best control system I would see right now would be a system similar to iFps.

make the left joystick all the moving around:
    up - move forward
    down - move backwards
    right - strafe right
    left - strafe left
add a button to press to interact with doors and such.

    the left joystick
    up - look up
    down - look down
    right - look right
    left - look left
also put a button in the middle to jump.

add another button somewhere on the screen to TOGGLE crouching.

You can keep the change weapons how it is right now, and the menus are ok too.

for firing, either set an option to use touch to shoot, or have it so you can touch anywhere on the screen that there isn't a button and it will shoot at your crosshairs.

These are the controls that I would say would work the best. Keep in mind that the analog sticks would have to be SMOOTH unlike how they are now.

I don't think you can, I first thought maybe switching weapons, or even switching to the same weapon would reload the current weapon, but it remembers the number of rounds chambered. :(

I'm glad to see that it came out, and I'm very happy to see that the control issues are being taken care of. I can see this being THE game I go to when I want to play on my iPod once the controls work. I was happy to grab it at $3 knowing that the controls will be fixed.

I'm a huge Duke fan. Enough that I still think one day DNF might see the light of day out of development hell :D

With that said I think I will wait on the app store version until the control issues are addressed. From looking at the video on the front page it would make any of the higher difficulty levels very very hard due to the controls.

If they can get the controls patched up I'd love to even see the older expansions ported over too or maybe multiplayer.

edit: Aww its censored? Is that the only thing thats been changed? I hope Duke's one liners are still all there. :(

Okay, I was slightly put off by the censored strippers, but whatever, I'm having a blast playing this. I turned the speed on the analogs way down, and it's a lot better as long as you use taps and swipes.

so i'm definitely going to be the black sheep on this one and say...i have no problems with the controls. i'm currently using the setup with the bars for movement and with tap to shoot. i personally like the tap to shoot more than pressing a button and i don't have any problems aiming even though my finger may be over the screen. even the somewhat erratic flying pigs don't stand a chance against me. if the controls are going to become tighter and better(though this is likely only for the dual analog setup), then that's just a bonus for me. if it means anything, i also played this back in the day as a teen and am not some casual guy new on the scene. i am disappointed in some of the censorship though, but that was to be expected. hopefully the upcoming patch makes everything well and good for the rest of you, because i'm enjoying this nostalgia packed blast from the nasty past.

and as a side note, i've been thinking about picking up prey now that i've experienced the duke controls and have no problem with them. did prey have any other major issues aside from the controls, or was that the key thing keeping it from shining? i'm a big fan of prey for the pc(easily one of the greatest unsong heroes of the fps genre that was hyped and then lost in obscurity) and the controls work for me, but the rest of the game will have to be decent as well.

yeah the censored strippers sucks... but I guess it's the only way they could get it approved. You know how Apple is......

Basically, because of the controls, this game sucks more than the G.I.Joe movie.

I previously said that this game was just as bad as Prey. I was wrong. This crap is ten times worse than Prey. The aiming is just so bad that the game is truly unplayable. Every control setting sucks. Even moving your character is a huge hassle.

    I'd give this one a 0/10

According to iTunes, I have 207 apps. This is easily the worst.

Are you kidding? Prey was great. But only lasted a little bit. This is like a longer version of Prey. Much more fun. And I honestly dont think the controls are THAT bad at all. I dont have a problem. The only thing I hate about this game......censored strippers :(

    Booooo!~~!!!!

after playing Duke for like ten minutes, I have to say I did not like the controls of this game. Crap, I should have just waited for a better FPS and now I wasted 3 bucks.
