Hey George is this promise the same kind of promise of getting Duke Nukem Forever out? Or where you out of the loop on that one too? Maybe you should have Ken Silverman take a look at it and give some recomendations for you. This game blows away Duke Nukem Forever because I can actually play this one!!
How about options for disabling that hideous bilinear filtering (that Duke never had in the first place), and an option to have the game auto-fire when an enemy is within your crosshairs? The game is unplayable at the moment due to the controls, here is hoping that it all gets sorted out; there is a lot to work with here!
I tried them. It is playable, but not fun. I still have 3 chapters in Wolfenstein left - I don't have to force my way through this mess.
When a game takes over a DECADE to not even come out, forgive people for taking what someone involved say with a grain of salt.
Then they should go post about their anger in a Duke Nukem Forever thread or forum. That game or this issue has zero to do with Duke Nukem Forever.
You can set the right hand side to be looking, and the left hand side to be strafing if you want. Or you can tilt to look, allowing you to strafe, look, and shoot at the same time.
i sure hope this game will go back to the 2.99 price the day the update is released. i have learned never to buy a game on the promise of updates.
Obvious the dev doesn't care much about the controls. They look ugly as. A huge eye sore and work like crap. Was the biggest turn off of Prey. And looking at games like Modern Combat and LiveFire which seem to make FPS good for iPhone. I just don't get why the dev has put no effort into the design. This game would never sell on controls. And a classic example of the hate some people have for the controls on the iPhone games. Some games are great. This Dev has ruined Duke for iPhone. Can a GOOD Dev redo this with some thought.
Have you read the topic? They've already responded to our complaints and it's only been up a matter of hours. New controls in the works as we speak.
Yeah, but why were the old ones ever allowed to ship? Did nobody play the game, and say "this isn't working"? These developers suck. There is no other explanation. Any competent developer would never have shipped a game this broken. With that in mind, just because they are saying that we're going to have controls as good as Wolfenstein and Minigore, that doesn't mean the developers are capable of giving us controls that good. They didn't even realize that the controls were crap until people complained, and to me, that says a lot about their company.
To the dev: I am suffering from horrible slowdown on my iPhone 3G. Please tell me this will be fixed. Thanks.
Well, apparently George Broussard was "out of the loop", and he's sorry about it. It's still his game so I'm sure he'll whip the team into shape somehow. Controls aside, the game looks to be a damn good port of the original, so the dev team can't be all that bad.
Just a quick update to my previous post for the dev: I deleted and re-downloaded and installed the game, then rebooted my phone just to see if that would help the slowdown issues I was having. Unfortunately it had no change. This slowdown problem seems to only be affecting some iPhone 3G users as I have not seen anyone with a 2G Touch or 3Gs report this problem. Hope that helps and hope you guys can fix it because the way it stands right now I can't really play this game (well not without feeling like I'm playing on a 286, anyway) and it's pretty frustrating to not be able to play the game I just paid you for.
So...you're comparing the controls on this game to the controls on games that have not yet been released? Interesting. Did you even bother to read the other 21 pages of posts? Did you even notice that the developer is aware of the shortcomings with regard to the controls, and has been soliciting suggestions in this thread? I'm not sure why you would even waste your time attempting to contribute to this thread, since it's clear you're clueless about what others--including the developer-- have been discussing. Go back to the "Minigore Waiting Room," and let the grown-ups talk here.
