Basically if you just expect that this version will suck and the controls will be lame then you will be pleasantly surprised and really enjoy it. It is what i did with Transformers 2 and i turned out loving it Honestly though. Duke Nukem will be what it will be. It will be a port... graphics will be patchy and oldskool with a touch of polish. Controls will be different and adapted to iphone. Some will love some will hate. If you genearally hate FPS on the iphone then DONT even bother getting this. All you will do is waste your money and then spend the next few weeks of your life on this message board moaning about how much this game sucks and how its over priced etc etc. Personally i will enjoy it for the nostalgia and for the simple fact that finally i can live my childhood dream of being able to carry a game i loved as a kid around in my pocket!
Most don't even know the people you just mentioned. What western Sci-fi series was Bruce in. Name another wrestler of the same vintage. What operating system was the first Duke Nukem released for.
Hmph. IGN had the release date bumped up to yesterday (from today) and this still isn't available! Doom Classic can't get here soon enough, either!
Western Sci-fi? I'm pretty sure he was referring to Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead series. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, The British Bulldog, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Ted Dibease, etc. Duke Nukem OS? You got me there. I played it, but I wasn't a huge fan. I'm sure that i'm one, of only a few, on the forums who grew up in the 80's.
There's a pretty good contingent of older farts in here. I think it's just that the young'uns tend to be a bit more prolific in their postings than some of the older folks. I did some of my best growing in the 80s.
IGN and release dates will never go together. Anyway this is the only game on my list I'm looking out for right now.
Yep your not alone friend (Born in 83)..... If this actually comes out I won't waste a split second to get it...
No worries, I for one know that I act like a juvenile retard. Ahh yes the 80's, that was when I was horribly addicted to pitfall and qbert, Although lets be honest, things didn't really start heating up till the early 90's.
I don't consider myself an old fart...but I did grow up in the 80s with hair metal bands and wrestling main events shown on network tv. Hope this game will rock on my iphone. Apple, just f-ing approve it! EDIT: Pitfall on the Atari. Just brought back an old Christmas memory.
The early 90's, a.k.a. the beginning of a new generation of video game awesomeness. Sonic, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and eventually the unforgettable SNES takeover. side note: I know Genesis actually debuted in '89, but that counts as early 90's in my book.
I remember bugging my dad to get me Defender on the 2600 at the Sherman Oaks Galleria (the mall where they filmed Fast Times at Ridgemont High). The price? 50 bucks! Do you remember how freaking expensive those high profile 2600 games were even in the 80s?
Precisely what I was hinting at! Altered beast with it's craptastic controls is still one of my favorite games.
