Promos: K4KKP6E4LRR3 9AJRFXJYKPRY 47RLEE7YJPH6 M3N4MHAPYMTX WLK7N6A73L4R P66HXNTTAF3A So my latest App called "Droste Effect" features 9 animations of trippy recursive pictures. It hasnt had the response I wished for, only receiving about two dozen sales in the last 3 days. I would love your feedback on it, tell me what you think I could do to make it sell more. Thanks Gabe
Well, I have to be honest: I'm not sure that there is anything that can be done to make it sell better. It is what it is: An app that features zoomy Droste Effect images. Apart from that it doesn't really do anything. It's one of those "cool for a few minutes" apps, maybe something to keep around for a bit to show a few friends, but that's about the extent of its utility and entertainment. Were I to review something like this I'd probably have a tough time dragging it out to two paragraphs, and while that would make for a nice quick review so I can move on to something else, it wouldn't really be much of a review in and of itself.
What an interesting app. While cool, it's bit my cup of tea. (wow, I actually said that) I can see this veiny nifty to pull out and show friends though. Well, good luck on sales.
M3N4MHAPYMTX is taken. I used to have a couple screensavers like this. They were sketches by Escher, though. They make sick really fast.
You're probably completely right. I just wonder if there is anything I can do to make the app more appealing. Yes it is one of those novelty app that you only open once in a while, but I feel like there are so many of these kind of app that are actually popular. Maybe it has something to do with advertising, or design. I do not know
True, there are tons of "useless" toys on the App Store, but the popular ones generally have something going for them: 1) They're interactive in some interesting way, 2) (Soundboard apps) They feature lines and quips from popular sources, such as movies, TV shows, or well-known personalities, 3) They play on a well-known internet meme (screamers, rick rolls, etc.) 4) They're designed really well 5) A combination of any of the above Engaging the user is probably one of the most critical here. Passive entertainment is fine if it can engage the user for more than a few minutes, but this app doesn't really do that. Each of the 9 Droste images will probably entertain for a few recursions before the user moves on to the next, and then when they're done they'll probably revisit a few of their favourites, and maybe repeat the process a few times before ultimately getting bored of it and consigning it to the bit bucket when they need to make some room in their 148 for something new.
I took K4KKP6E4LRR3. It's a pretty cool app but I'm not really sure what you can do to improve it. More images would be cool and possibly a way to make them using your own images? Not sure if that would work but I'm sure I've seen it done somewhere before. Also it stutters a bit on my 2nd Gen iPod Touch, even after restarting my iPod. So increasing the frame rate would be good. Being able to adjust the speed would be cool as well.
