Anyone here here also concerened about the recent events at www.GOG.com?

Good Old Games had officially sold older PC Games classics for downloading without any DRM attached.

Now they are about to go away. The message on their website only lets expect the worst to be expected.

Seems people could not stay honest an uploaded their games to "share the love" FRAGG U, PIRATES!!!!

Thus causes one of the coolest online Game distributors to close it´s gates.

I heard from many sources that it's only a marketing trick.

Odd. If they are closing shop, they missed the greatest opportunity to make a mountain of money by not telling anybody in advance.

I agree with both of you.

Some one got the Duke Nukem Forever Drama/ PR Stunt down the wrong throat.

If that's true, they need to fire whoever thought this was a good idea.

They're using a suspiciously Mac-like theme for a website that doesn't have a Mac section.

  11. Cool. I like it. Lots of retro goodness, and you get a few freebies when you sign up, two of which are actually good. (Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky.) Must be getting hit hard though 'cos it keeps timing out on me.

yes, it was indeed a PR stunt for a site relaunch.
I wrote them how much I did not like it.

    But well...
GOG is dead, long live GOG,
    Hail to DRM Free Software!

That's what I said. Their deception knows no bounds.

How is that deceptive? That makes no sense. They never said anything about Mac downloads, and I've been a member since day 1.

However, I really despise how they went about this, and will think twice before buying anything from them again.

The optic says Mac and you may have taken my comment too seriously.

You act like this is their first brainless business move. I always thought that advertising on piracy websites would freak out their partners.

Huh, I'm not familiar with GOG.com, but to me it does seem like lame marketing stunt is indeed rather lame.
