Look I'm not going to lie, Drifter will basically run on a potato. https://twitter.com/celsiusgs/status/640937855158775809
Sure, if Drifter needed newer hardware to run it, it would make sense. But since this game has been in development for a while, it will run on older devices. So, there's no reason to require newer hardware or iOS versions for this specific game. However, if they were just starting development, it would be good to target newer hard/software.
I don't know how it's looking, but I found Stellar Horizon some weeks ago and it has covered all my needs (and even more!) for a game of this kind. I still hope Drifter comes out for iOS, but I recommend you check Stellar Horizon too if you want a great space trader on iOS.
We're still alive and getting ever closer to 1.0 and an iOS release! To that end we just released Drifter 0.7.0 on Early Access and just cut a new 1080p@60fps trailer which shows how the game is looking right now. I said I was going to bring Drifter to iOS when it was done and I'm still bringing it to iOS when it's done, that's the best I can do.
I've been watching this progress for so long and can't wait to get it on both steam and iOS on release. Don't get discouraged, you're doing great!
I just bought an Android device and found a game called Interstellar Pilot. I've been playing for an hour or so doing the tutorials and a few missions and believe it's quite similar to what we've seen in Drifter. Has anyone played both and can tell us the similarities and differences? The wikia of interstellar pilot is here: http://interstellar-pilot.wikia.com/wiki/Interstellar_pilot_Wikia
For me both Drifter and Interstellar Pilot look quite similar. There are some differences obviously, but they've got the same base. In fact they are both "2.5D" gameplay wise, since you can only control left, right and speed, you don't move vertically. I was very surprised to find it and how similar they seem to be.
