I do hope that this game's inability to play on my 4G iPod is not the start of a trend. I did have a 2g iPod two months ago and more and more games were coming out that I couldn't play. I was lucky enough to get a 4g iPod given to me for my 40th birthday and I thought I would at least get a couple of years out of it before it became obsolete. Although I understand the financial reasons, I really wish Apple could slow down on their 'bringing out a new device every year' policy. We all like the most up to date technology but it is just not financially possible for most people to buy new devices so often. And it makes iOS devices throwaway, ephemeral devices, which is wrong - it just feeds into this culture of wast that we have. What's wrong with building a mobile device to last? Sorry if this is a bit off-topic but I think we, as customers, should start demanding that iOS devices have a much longer shelf-life. I don't want to get to the stage where I can't play games on my device a few months, a year or even a few years after buying it...
No support for 3GS either? wow that sucks i was actually looking forward to another good UE game, oh well FAIL
From what I read of the original forum thread (linked a few pages back), I gathered that the developer himself was surprised and disappointed when he discovered that the game would only run on those two devices. It seems that there could be some problem with the game code itself, and he is trying to change this. So (by my reading of the thread), there is every likelihood that the game could still come to other unreal 3 capable devices.
Go to hell with your iPhone, you are idiot..... really Users of iPod Touch 4G have too newest divice (sorry for my bad english)
LOL! Where did you find the statistic that said 80% of iDevice owners has and iPad 2 or iPhone 4? It really sounds like you just pulled it out of your... You know. Anyways the real statistic is probably that 80% of iDevice owners don't have an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4. So don't be a selfish prick and let other people enjoy this wonderful game.
With recent iPad 2 sales and the iPhone 4 craziness, I'd assume 50% of all iOS users own an iPhone 4 or iPad 2.
You are way off with your statistics! Look at this chart showing iOS device shares for Perfect Cell as an example: http://tinyurl.com/3qkh2ht The iPhone 4 accounts for 25% of sales at this point, and the iPad 2 is less than 3%.
iPod touch 4g have 256MB RAM iPhone 4 have 512MB RAM This is main difference, i think big mistake of Apple...
developer(UDK forum) : Update: I did get the go-ahead from Apple to release the targeted version. WHEW. Ironically, however, I did connect with a programmer who feels confident that we can get D:S running on all relevant devices. SO, while he works on that, I am adding a few new gameplay elements. There will be a new trailer in the next week or so, and when D:S finally does get released it will be better than ever. As always: onward!
That sounds promising. I don't mind waiting a little longer(although I have an iPhone 4) just so everyone can play and share
That's not irony!!! Irony would be if it only ran on 4th Gen devices, and then the day after release, all 4th-gen devices were recalled.
To all of you whiners, look here http://http://www.speedbumpstudios.com/. They're delaying the release to make the game comparable for the iPad, 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen. So thanks for that, now all us iPad 2 and iPhone 4 owners have to wait because of YOU, you selfish pigdogs. Love you.
Well Godspeed to the developer, and good for him wanting to release a quality product, in terms of compatibility and polish. I guess the compatibility scare spooked him into also reconsidering the game's polish as well... =D
btw it's also delayed for the good of u iphone 4 and ipad owners..why? cause he is adding new elements to the game so u really should thank us 3gs users to make the game to be delayed so the game nw will have more elemntes and more gameplay we rock -4g users
It's actually a good thing they are delaying the game. I'm mean I was a little upset at the fact I would only be able to play it on my iPad 2 and not my less than six months old iPod Touch 4g or iPhone 3GS of two years almost. However, they are adding in creatures to the game and making it more interactive. So it really is a good thing they are not releasing it only for devices with 512 MB Ram and waiting to bring it to all devices as possible; while adding in a ton of new content to make the game even bigger and better.
I didn't even know that before it was not compatible with itouch 4g, that would have been a real bummer for me....Now my latest gen itouch feels old already
