Especially gameplay and Payment Model. Thank you Everguild Active Member Nov 3, 2016 25 0 1 #3 Everguild, Nov 24, 2016 Hey there! Drakenlords developer here. I'll leave game impressions for the players. In regards to gameplay and payment model, we'll tell you this: Gameplay Drakenlords is a duelling CCG. if you're reading this, you're likely familiar with the genre, so let's jump straight into what makes Drakenlords stand out: A lot of single player content. And more to come! In gameplay, your playable character, a Warlord, is another unit in the battlefield. It can attack and be damaged, be affected by positive and negative traits and use powerful abilities. As your Warlord levels up you will unlock active and passive skills to empower your deck and open the door to otherwise unviable strategies. Some of your minions, not just your Warlord, have active skills This means you can use the mana you'd use to play cards to activate an effect from the minion instead. The Sealed Deck arena lets you try out the rarest cards in the game in a balanced deck. It's great to learn the game's nuances, card combos and tactical options, and to compete on a ground outside of the meta. What about the Payment Model? Drakenlords is free to download and play with optional IAPs. You get all features right off the bat, including: A single player campaign and events with 8+ hours of content and truckloads of rewards to improve your deck and unlock new playable characters. You can explore all game mechanics safely and having fun with it. Ranked PvP. You can go straight away and battle other players online too. Taking part in PvP gets you rewards the higher you climb in the ranks every month. A sealed Deck Arena where all players get a choice of 3 premade decks out of a pool of (currently) 15 and battle to test their raw skill. It's a great way for new players to earn new cards. Expansion Campaigns rewarding sets of specific cards and an an unlockable Epic mode for a true Single Player challenge. Time Limited Special Events rewarding either booster packs, extra XP or promotional cards. Offline deck editing and Practise against the AI. Access to the Sealed Deck Arena, Expansion Campaigns and some Special Events, as well as individual booster packs, have a cost in Gems. Hold on. Gems? Gems are our in-game currency. You can earn Gems by winning PvP matches, at the end of every monthly Competitive Season, completing daily quests, earning achievements, and sending a Goblin Miner to get you some every few hours. What about IAPs? Our range of IAPs includes bags of gems, stacks of booster packs at a discount and daily deals where we put up 3 cards to buy individually, each priced according to rarity. Finally, there's an option to buy direct access to the Sealed Deck Arena and Expansion Campaigns. By the way, you get at least one Epic or Legendary card guaranteed every 10th booster, but chances are you'll get them at a higher rate than that. We frown upon having a huge divide between players with Legendary cards and players without. Is there any other way I can get free cards, booster packs or gems? Yes! Keeping an eye on our community hubs (facebook, twitter, official forum) will let you know of all the special promotions, contests and giveaways we do regularly. Hope that clears it up! We'll stick around, everybody feel free to ask anything. TheSop Well-Known Member Sep 24, 2016 264 0 16 #4 TheSop, Nov 24, 2016 Does the game support Apple Game Center? Can I play on multiple devices using the same account? Is there a card list online anywhere? How big is the player population? Thanks in advance. You'll be required to register once, and that user + password will let you play on any device and login to our forum! We have the expansion campaign cards online here. In game, you can check all the cards you own by clicking the three-card button in the lower left side of the deck editor, as pictured bellow. We launched today, but our soft launch gathered already a few hundred players, mostly Spanish speakers. First of all, thanks for the let's play video! The login option is only for people with registered accounts we may improve the wording to better signal this soon. After the tutorial you will be asked to give yourself a username. You can register from the Settings menu, or the game will force you to do so once you reach an ELO score of at least 500 in PvP. TheSop Well-Known Member Sep 24, 2016 264 0 16 #7 TheSop, Nov 24, 2016 It sounds great and I like the look of the game, my only concern is that I used to play a game called Deckstorm by DeNA and they just decided to terminate the game after a few months which resulted in me losing money I had spent on card packs. Due to this I get nervous when new card games appear as the market is so competitive. Everguild Active Member Nov 3, 2016 25 0 1 #8 Everguild, Nov 24, 2016 We were shocked when we learned about Deckstorm. It's the fate we all dread. I can't promise we won't ever shut down; we launched a few hours ago, after all. What I can tell you though, is this: Our fate relies solely on our game's success. No corporate overlord will come and shut us down. No publisher can force us to try and squeeze more money out of our players, or take our IP away from us. We are an indie studio and we are self publishing Drakenlords. Nothing stands in our way, nothing is distracting us from making the game the best it can be. One year after soft launch, many of our first players keep playing the game, and often. If that doesn't speak about the competitive health of the game, nothing will. An advantage of being a small, independent team is we act quick. Be it a support ticket, a balancing issue, a newly discovered bug... If we're awake (we're on London time), we will see your message and get back to you or get to work on a fix ASAP. I hope this puts your concerns to rest. If it doesn't, I encourage you to play the single player campaign to get a good bunch of booster pack rewards first and get a feel of the game without monetary risk. PBSNellie Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 1,381 168 63 Southern CA #9 PBSNellie, Nov 24, 2016 Hi everyone. I downloaded this and have played a few rounds. So far I like what I see, and I have purchased a special pack. Now I had a problem with my purchase, and I reached out to the devs, who IMMEDIATELY resolved it. That and they seem to be very active here in our forum bodes well for the future of this game. The other thing I so far like, is that I can play the game without constantly losing. Sure I want a challenge, and this game has some aspects that give it a lot of depth that I can see going forward. It does have what seems to be a lengthy single player campaign which I hope they can keep adding to. As well as a lot of achievements which reward with gems and quests. The card packs I have opened do not have constant repeats but some rare cards as well.. AND the FILE size is really manageable. So far under 200 mg. I too was let down by the Deckstorm debacle. But you win some and you lose some. I have spent money on games and eventually lost interest, so it works both ways. I would definitely give it a try if you like card battlers. TheSop Well-Known Member Sep 24, 2016 264 0 16 #10 TheSop, Nov 24, 2016 Is there likely to be more expansions going forward? nosoup4crr Well-Known Member Apr 29, 2011 689 0 0 #11 nosoup4crr, Nov 25, 2016 Refer me to get us both booster packs. SixDaysShort luckystrikeguy Well-Known Member Sep 18, 2013 615 7 18 #12 luckystrikeguy, Nov 25, 2016 So 19.99 for 15 packs of cards Or 19.99 for one legendary even though your garunteed to get one every ten packs. And I just got a special offer for an hour, 10 packs for 19.99. Do the devs think I'm stupid ? Seems shady and I'm just hoping it's been overlooked Even though I enjoy that this has an offline mode it stops being fun when you get hit with a brick of difficulty spike where it's basically begging you to open your wallet. It's just feels like a cheap cash in on hearthstone. Same mechanics different card names. I don't expect to play a game for free but 20 bucks for one card ? Come on nosoup4crr Well-Known Member Apr 29, 2011 689 0 0 #13 nosoup4crr, Nov 25, 2016 Last edited: Nov 25, 2016 The pay structure is definitely a bit ill-conceived. But I'm liking the feel of the game so far. Customizable "heroes" lead to a greater range of stratagies. The cards are solidly-varied for a starter set. But the game will benefit a lot from some more options. The relative power level seems a bit strange to me currently, though. Maybe that opinion will change over time. But having a common 3/1 haste beast that costs 2 and a rate 3/1 haste goblin that costs 3 is just one example of many. I feel like, maybe, given some of the customizable powers, off-classes aren't supposed to be playable...but I'm not seeing that. Everguild Active Member Nov 3, 2016 25 0 1 #14 Everguild, Nov 25, 2016 Last edited: Nov 25, 2016 Yes! Our daily deals offer a choice of three specific cards, one of which is Legendary. You will get at least 1 Epic or Legendary card when you buy 15 packs, and it will be random. Thanks for posting this!! We weren't aware of this. This is a typo, and it only happens on iOS. This registration offer gives you 20 packs for 19.99, not 10. We're working to deploy an update ASAP to fix this and some other iOS-exclusive minor issues. We take difficulty spikes very seriously. That's why you can beat all free single player content with any starter deck without any changes. Expansion Campaigns have craftier final bosses, but can be beaten with precise deck tweaks and no need of Legendary cards. Then we have the Sealed Deck arena, where everyone's using the exact same decks. While it's not exactly easy, you know the decks are designed to be of equal power level. Finally, PvP is when things get serious. We have an ELO score system in place and a matchmaking cap to make sure you never get pitted against someone of greater skill or power level than you. As you keep winning you will eventually plateau. That is the time to decide if you want to start investing in the game to become truly competitive and reach the Legendary Division where the best players battle. Remember, you never get stuck with the cards you have. There's always more than one free way to earn gems, booster packs or prizes to expand your collection. Hearthstone is of course an inspiration. As is Magic: the Gathering, Ascension and many others. However, this is a great opportunity to lay out the mechanics that make Drakenlords unique and deeper than the average CGG that aren't obvious at a glance: – Warlord Skill tree: Choosing a Warlord –our playable characters– doesn't mean a choice of a set of unique cards. You get access to a Skill Tree you unlock as you level up, which let you choose a set of active and passive skills. – Warlord as a minion: Your Warlord is is not an avatar removed from the game, it's a super-minion battling along with otehr minions: it can attack, be attacked and be subject to status effects and AoE attacks, with some exceptions. The fact that the Warlord trades every time cycles minions faster and changes the way you have to manage your board control, particularly in the early game. – Minions with active skills: Put simply: imagine some minions in Hearthstone had Hero Abilities. Some of our minions do! This enters yet another layer of thought to deck building because you have to think about your mana needs beyond of cost of cards. But more importantly, it makes duels much more fun and tactical! – Two Copies of Each Legendary: Allowing two copies of any card in your deck makes it much easier to enable your combos, which result in faster games. But be careful! You'll be sacrificing in flexibility. – A Better Going Second: In Drakenlords, each Warlord's skill tree has a choice of 3 passive skills in case you go second; some generate a card in your hand, or let you draw an extra card, or put a minion in play at the start of the game. You don't automatically get an additional card if you go second because your Warlord can attack or use an active skill on turn 1, so you begin every game with means to try to counter a first turn of the first player. – Mercenaries: All Warlords eventually unlock a skill allowing them to use cards from one other Warlord at additional mana cost. Again this allows for further deck specialisation, a meta less likely to stagnate thanks to the vast array of choices to counter dominant strategies, and more exciting play because you never know when, if and how your opponent will use, if at all, cards from another Warlord– and neither will your opponent. Hope that gives a good overview of our strategic depth. As always, feel free to ask anything! Everguild Active Member Nov 3, 2016 25 0 1 #15 Everguild, Nov 25, 2016 There are two factors that go into the power level of our cards: Rarity: The Hunting Wolf is an Epic card, whereas the Goblin Raider is Common. If the talk strictly about individual value, better cards will be rarer. Race Synergy: However, the Goblin Raider is extremely dangerous in an Orc's Goblin-focused deck, where you can, for example, play it for 1 mana cheaper, attack with it, resurrect it, play it AGAIN and buff it to deal more damage, if you plan well. The Hunting Wolf, being an Animal, has marginal synergies with other cards in comparison. Hope that clears it up! nosoup4crr Well-Known Member Apr 29, 2011 689 0 0 #16 nosoup4crr, Nov 25, 2016 That is helpful, thanks.
